Wouldn't it be better for existing customers if KnC didn't ship any more hardware till Neptune ?
The november(December) batch just added 3PH to the network.  The October batch added at least 2PH.

Yeah, I would prefer them not to release anything. I hoped those big manufacturers to have some sort of contact with each other, agreeing not to flood the network.

What's the exact terms on which they will make another batch? Also KnC is responsible for more than half of the current network  Shocked ?

As soon as a competitor starts shipping, that's what triggers KNC to sell more miners.

if KNC sold Jupiters initially for $6,995
and then dropped it to $4,995

then now with difficulty higher and BTC lower it would have to be below $3995, and that seems high especially if BTC continues the downward trend.

One thing I believe that KNC are good at choosing price to always sell quickly, and if they didn't then the whole network protection and help customers keep percentage of the network goes out the door.

Also about the low BTC price due to news from China...
personally, I think the Chinese some time to sort themselves out, and we'll see BTC come back up when they have a solution sooner or later.
3000 ~ 3500 USD / Jan. Jupiter with limited (1 or 2) per customer. Let's see!

Next difficulty retarget occurs at block 276191.0 (eta 1.8 days): 1184765576.11 / +30.4% [est.] Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

wow.

every time KnC hits the market this kind of growth happens.

Anyone have an an idea of in what measure other asic vendors (bitmain, bitfury, avalon 2nd gen) contributed to this last jump?

Yeah, not gonna happen.  They don't make money if they aren't selling miners to miners.

There sure is a lot of wishful thinking in this thread lately.  The reality is that KNC will sell a buttload of Jupiters over the next few months and at a price that will most likely make you weep.  Sorry, but it's the truth and you'd better get used to it.

what's everyone worried about?  This volatility is perfectly normal in the bitcoin world and we've seen it many times already.

anyway bitcoin is coming back up as we speak.

what.. it's only 4000% up in couple months compared to 8000% 24 hours ago, to me it's still a good investment.

or do you want to put your money in the bank and earn 2% per anumm

enjoy the wild ride  Cheesy Cheesy Grin Grin

You forget, most on the forum have only been in BTCland about 6-8 months,so they know not of BTC  Cheesy

The smart investors in China will find an alternate means to invest in btc. You just have to be creative. there are other exchanges out there that they can migrate to at a bit of a loss. you also have to remember that the best time to invest is when everyone panics and wants to get out. I am keeping my neptune orders and wont make any more rash decisions based on the current value of btc. I'd advise you all to think ahead and not panic.

ok....I'm in I have 2 Neptunes on order

that equals lemming +1 or 2 lemmings (damn cliff keeps calling us damnit)

others?

+1 to the advice. WHen I was still GPU mining this was my constant nightmare. I had smoke alarms and checked my cables every few days. I once had a smoldering PCIe connector, that didnt help me relax. To be honest, considering the amount of electrical gear deployed for  mining, its surprising we dont read such stories more often. Particularly if you factor in exploding/melting/arching  BFL power supplies.

But Im a little stumped how in this case, the ATX cable got fried. Its not used. Well, only to jumper the power good switch, but basically there should be no current flowing through there whatsoever?

Hi all:

Quick question.  My Jupiter appears to have a bad Beaglebone Board.  I say this from experience as it's not the first time.  The first one that went bad on me was 2 weeks after a day 1 shipment.  I spent a week on the phone with Amelia and a few other clowns assuring them that I had been troubleshooting the issues correctly.  They made me mail my unit in, which I paid a fortune to ship 2 day express... then they shipped me a new one via pony express.  Needless to say I lost 2.5 weeks when the difficulty level was 86,933,018. My question, since I would prefer not to have to deal with them anymore... is if I can just overnight a beaglebone black to myself and flash it with the KNC image without any problems.  I know that at one point they talked as if the USB and/or video connector may cause a power problem with the units. If that the case I can grab my solder sucker and remove them my self. Last resort would be to try like hell to get an answer on the phone and just tell them I will pay for "their" beaglebone outright since I don't want to bother with a warranty claim. Perhaps the customer service has changed, but I doubt it. Just wondering if anyone has experience...  or perhaps someone wants to sell me one that is working off a broken unit as a Christmas present :-)

Thanks!

Humorous prediction: Chinese govt & people will wait until the value is absolutely tanked, and then corner the market by buying the majority of bitcoin. Sometime later, they will announce bitcoin is the best thing ever. Value shoots back up, and they now control the market.

Actually considering the Chinese military is heavily invested in industry in the country..that is not as far fetched as you'd think.....but then if true would rubber band an extreme reaction in usa ...if the usa gov't saw that china was trying to corner the market and promote bitcoin..ie we'd then ban usd to exchanges ..ie wash rinse repeat..heh

10 BTCs may not be enough if the drop keeps dropping. You'll need more like 15+ as it what seems to be happening.

No no, I am not touching those 10 btcs. I am ready to spend only what I may lay a hand onto on top of that. Which is like 3-4btcs  Roll Eyes.

Considering BTC is going through a slow crash we may not see those awesome high prices again just a few weeks back. I remember selling 1 coin for $1000. Not it is half that, and my miner isn't making coin any faster. This down trend makes me think twice before dumping any more money into mining hardware. KNC "should" sell their Jupiters for what they were charging for their Saturns, which was $2995. I actually paid the higher original price and then KNC lowered the price on all of us and gave us the middle finger if we asked to be compensated for the difference. Right now preev has it at $550. And now an entire government is trying to ban bitcoin from its own country. This is a real hard time for bitcoin right now, because we are putting basically value on nothing. At least with real money, it is tangible in my pocket. This is the first time I'm feeling pretty bad about the whole industry....I think the global banking world is just too powerful right now for bitcoin and we'll probably never see BTC go over $100 again once it eventually dips that low. Most of bitcoin users hoard their coin anyway. And that's not helping anything. They just can't let it go.

Then on the Jupiters possibly going on sale....I'm sure you noticed that KNC has posted their holiday hours right on their front page recently. This is in preparation to list the Jupiters, because if they are listed anytime before Januray we all know we won't see a delivery until after the New Year, but KNC will be added a few million to their bottom line numbers before the year is out. They wanna go out with a bang apparently.

It was fun while it lasted I guess....

I am not so pessimistic. Way too much money has and is being poured into bitcoin-related businesses and it has very good worldwide exposure. I think of it as facebook of cryptos. Probably not the best, but will be dominant due to overwhelming popularity. So, I am setting aside my 10 btcs and not touching it. If new Jupiters are priced so that I have to dig into that, well then no Jupiter for me.

Yeah, it was impressive to see someone dumping 2000 coins at once on Gox yesterday. But I am not so pessimistic.
