oh.... here goes another 1000 pages of:  THIS IS A SCAM; DON`T BUY.

i can tell you being a day 1 jupiter costumer this was a very good deal. 23% roi in btc, and a shitload of cash in $.

I am at about 80% BTC ROI from my day 1 jup.  I was probably on of the first people in the US to get it too...  That said, I just don't see this unit being a good deal with the math I am running.  They would have to deliver 3.5 TH/s April 1st for it to have a shot of getting ROI by mid september.
It will most likely be closer to 4 or 5 terrahash(a guess..per the news)...I also imagine the timeframe included a nice cushion this time as well......  and who knows how high BTC could be by then....

what do you about 30 PH/s estimate for the end of March 2014?

I haven't made my final projections for March yet (not till December), but I wouldn't be surprised. Cointerra's smallest first batch was over 2PH, they opened up 3 more batches since then for even more (i think 5PH each?). If ONLY Cointerra ships, we'll be close to that projection.

As it is, KNC's 2nd gen are about to kick the neighborhood difficulty square in the nuts within days..

thanks for the reply Tongue

Buying this now with BTC locks you in at 850$/btc

if the BTC price crashes, you can get a refund

if the price stays the same, get the miner

you forgot to mention the third scenario: BTC at 2K$ by the time you get your Neptune...

That's true, it is sort of like a put option.  You could really use this as a hedge against falling BTC prices. BTC goes to 100 tomorrow? Ask for a refund.

Lol i get 255$ for UPS in EU, how many gets USA folks

And yes there is only btc payment, no way

There is bank transfer but they provide no re-assurance that you will keep your place in line with that option. One would assume from the last time that it is the case though.

Where did you read that? Did you call them ?

The place in line is like I said. I would assume so but they didn't state directly. A Fiat transfer takes longer than a BTC transfer.

sorry but I don't think the text you quote implies "no re-assurance that you will keep your place in line with that option", am I missing something obvious?

Yes folks, the Neptine is a terrible deal.... Don't do it!
You are better off buying my October Jupiter for 12k right now,
and letting Me take the risk!......     Grin

Haha.. I wish, I would love to do it.. $6k maybe, but not 12 lol..

For Neptune, BTC would have to be worth more than $5kUSD in April for it to be a good venture. Of course, simply holding your 10BTC now would put you ahead of the game.

I would be willing for a $5k product, but this is just too much, especially when the competition is planning to sell 100gh for less than $100 by first quarter, using 28nm technology.

Seems like KNC is leaning hard toward datacenter models, leaving other companies to deal with the individuals.

what do you about 30 PH/s estimate for the end of March 2014?

I haven't made my final projections for March yet (not till December), but I wouldn't be surprised. Cointerra's smallest first batch was over 2PH, they opened up 3 more batches since then for even more (i think 5PH each?). If ONLY Cointerra ships, we'll be close to that projection.

As it is, KNC's 2nd gen are about to kick the neighborhood difficulty square in the nuts within days..

And for those of you comparing early batch Cointerra and HashFast to this deal... those buyer paid a hell of a lot more than 12 BTC for there orders.

No.. $5k for January/Feb/March batches..

And I can guarantee that you could sell your KNC preorder on eBay this moment for double what you just paid, lol.

Yup.. Mercury's are going for $6k right now

I think 30PH/s is a good estimate and it will be much harder to double the network at that point, so Neptune will mine at least 0.15 /day for a while, probably 90 days to ROI.

Hard to double the network? All they have to do is ship more units. Keep track with the preorders and shipped batches much lately? Sounds like you haven't.

they hold my spot in line for 7 days for bank transfer right?
I don't see how since it only shows BTC as payment, but good luck.....
bank to exchange for BTC?.... yes if there are some left...
I especially like the fact that new custies will pay more... Smiley
I know I'm near the first ones this time..... yahooo!
set the chime on the page monitor up so loud I flew out of bed when it went off at 4am!....hahahaha

er not sure what to make of this .but I paid with paypal from my account page....I cleared it with AMEX first because it was over 10k...they cleared it with Paypal and it went thru as paid by paypal and confirmation letter as paid email by knc...slick right thru the order page on the knc web site my account just scrolled down to paypal...no issues

so then I get on my email like 10min later and it says no paypal

I contacted KNC about this as to not to lose may place in line should it get jerked

but anyway....that option did work as of 10 min ago

(jeez story of my life half ass backing into stuff)

how many coins do you guys think it will generate overall for 1 Neptune and how long will it take to break even when it delivers

Suppose you'll be able to start hashing the first of april (*) and taking into account the estimate made here by D&T (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/estimate-of-asic-pre-orders-13-to-15-phs-diff-18b-to-21b-by-end-of-2013-283820)
we should have almost 30 PH/s network hash rate. that means a difficulty of circa 4.285 billion, let say 5 billion just to be sure. At that diff level will produce 0.3017 a day.

I leave the rest as exercise for the readers Tongue

(*) first of april it's quite optimistic estimate.

Here's the estimate thread I've been a part of, particularly the first round results (I was nearly to the penny on the estimate): https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.3409229

And my next projection: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.3442350

And for anyone who can do basic math, yeah April is going to be a shitfest for difficulty. This is why I don't understand folks are thinking first month mining will be 12.. 15.. 20 btc.

what do you about 30 PH/s estimate for the end of March 2014?

I think 30PH/s is a good estimate and it will be much harder to double the network at that point (10,000 Neptune), so worse case at an average of 60PH total network a single Neptune will mine an average of 0.15 BTC/day for a while, probably 90 days to ROI.

Very bad deal. Assuming 1 april delivery and 30% difficulty increase per jump  (might be less but not by much), this unit will never ROI. Maybe the diffuculty will be lower than that but you can't be sure of the delivery date
