Has anything like this happened before?  A large exchange going down taking coins with it?  Sorry I am relatively new to bit and altcoins.

I answered your inquiry two posts ago (scroll up)

Get your altcoins out of Cryptsy, now! Withdrawals are already not working for 10+ biggest altcoins trade-volume-wise. Nor Bitcoin. If you fail to react to current situation you might lose double because not only you might lose your altcoins but Cryptsy demise might result in altcoin available total supply dropping massively hence price increase due to all lost coins.

Interesting what you said about Cryptsy demise resulting in altcoin supply drop...do you have any idea how significant it could be.  Any particular alt coins it would happen to most?  I am seriously surprised people still have coins in there.  There have been countless warnings on this forum.

Cryptsy was the major or even the only one exchange for many altcoins.

Coins disappeared from CoinEx.PW and the website was (from memory) taken offline by the ISP after all kinds of threats were made to them (the ISP) with no word ever as to what happened to the coins - some think the wallets were deleted, the markets recover, people keep mining.  Just keep supporting your local SXC.  Grin

I have used yobit a bit and have not had any issues.  Make sure to read some of the numerous posts on what is going on with Cryptsy and definitely be careful.

Yobit is okay, cryptsy is a timebomb waiting to steal all your bitcoin ---- avoid it!!

Is this available on Yobit.com? because I am listening first time Cryptsy is big shock for me so never recommend to any one for this

It is on yobit.  Cryptsy isn't dead yet, but I'd becareful.

Better remove all your coins from Cryptsy (not just SXC) else you might end up without them, forever. We are at similar stage as with MtGox, when there were many signs of inevitable shutdown yet many ignored them and later lost all BTC they had at that exchange. Either learn the easy way from their mistake or you might learn the hard way from your own.

★YoBit.Net★ 350+ Coins Exchange & Dice
Cryptsy market is not listed at http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/sexcoin/#markets  Huh  so it should be added as well as YoBit.

I'll send them a note.

Cryptsy has always been listed on Coinmarketcap, so they only recently stopped reporting them. Maybe they couldn't get the API feed? Or maybe they are just as pissed off as everyone else.

API issues probably, all Cryptsy markets (any coin) are gonne.

Yes, it has been confirmed that all Cryptsy markets were removed for the moment.

Quote
"The withdrawal complaints have prompted popular altcoin pricing site CoinMarketCap to delist the exchange, a move it also attributed to "skewed" prices on the platform. The site stated on Twitter that it would add Cryptsy after the issues are resolved."
