England vs South Africa
Now I'm enjoying the first T20 match of England vs South Africa England lost 2 valuable wickets for 43 runs in 5 overs. Jason Roy managed to collect only 8 runs off 15 balls. I expected better batting from an experienced player like Roy. However, if England set a target of less than 170, we might see South Africa win the first match. South African batsmen are playing well now.
Completely one sided match was this one. England were very aggressive from the start. They batted well and score was too big for the South African team, the reason behind it too many catch drops of Bairstow. Once South Africa was known as one of the best fielding side but after watching yesterday's match I felt they are the worst for now. Bowlers become helpless when fielders do not support them. I hope they work on their fielding for the next match.

England was very determined to score a large number of runs. They have succeeded in doing that as well. The South Africans knew what they had to do, and they tried their hardest, but they were not able to reach that total. A reason for that is they had a really rough start. Otherwise, I thought the pitch was okay. If they were able to just play out the new ball and stay in the crease, they should have had a chance. They also needed some more meaningful partnership between the batsmen. They did score 193 and that is obviously not a bad score at all. But in the end, it was a one-sided match.

England and South Africa are live and it is a huge total for South Africa to chase but what is positive for South Africa is that they found Tristan Stubbs who is clearing the boundary with ease and this is the first time he is batting for South Africa and he will be a future prospect in the franchise cricket in the future with the way he is clearing the boundaries easily.

Agreed on Tristan Stubbs. He has the potential to make it big on franchise cricket sector. Dewald Brevis already made a name for himself in the IPL and now it is the turn of Stubbs. There is no lack of talent in South Africa. Only issue is that they mix politics with sports and select their players for the XI based on skin color rather than merit. One good thing that happened for them is that after Brexit, it became difficult for the Dutch-origin white players to represent county teams and therefore a lot of players have returned to South Africa.

Scotland couldn't restrict New Zealand in any way for this reason New Zealand collect 225 runs. New Zealand openers Guptill and Finn Allen took over the game. Finn Allen played this match scoring 101 off just 56 balls leading New Zealand to victory. Scotland's players could not inspire the game in their batting. New Zealand won the match by 68 runs. It was their first T20 Match and next one will be 29 July. Let's see how much they can change in their next game.
The ground was really small and before the match everyone was expecting Martin Guptill to clear the boundaries easily and would score a century but Finn Allen went on to score his maiden century in T20.

New Zealand  : Scotland

New Zealand set a huge target of 226 against Scotland today. New Zealand's collection was 90 runs in the first 10 overs. And they managed to collect 135 runs in the last 10 overs. Especially in the last 3 overs they collected 52 runs. Finn Allen collected 101 runs from 56 balls. And James Neesham scored 30 runs in just 9 balls. I know Scotland won't win. If Scotland can collect more than 150 then I think it is a good collection for them.

A massive century by Finn Allen and a great contribution by Neesham helped New Zealand to 225/5, after 20 overs. Will the hosts be able to chase this down since this is the highest T20I total in Scotland ever! I would say quite challenging, but not impossible. Scottish openers make a 50-run partnership with a decent strike rate. We can hope that both of them can go big to meet the target.

@SirLancelot the media will only highlight what’s clickbait or sensational news, and in this case he achieved this feat in a sport that many Europeans won’t care, hence they decided against running this story. However if he continues his fine form them I’m sure that he can turn up on the radar of one of the IPL teams, and then the media will be forced to cover his achievements.

When was the last time a player from one of the associate nations turned up for any of the IPL franchises? If I am not wrong, Sandeep Lamichhane from Nepal was the last player who participated in the IPL from one of the associate nations. And despite good performance on field, he was never considered for selection by his franchise for the next season. There are quite a few quality players among the associate nations. But the franchises just want to fill their overseas quota from a select bunch of countries (Australia, West Indies, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka).

Entertainment like this should not be neglected but I think this would have been a lot more fun to create if France was able to win the match. I am sure that would have made this record a lot more memorable than what it is now. But it is also true that most of the mainstream media almost like avoided this news. Probably they thought it wasn't appropriate to spread the news because this happened in a small match. Well, this is quite small when we compare it with the big games.
Whether it is a small team or a big team we should encourage everyone after a good game. This motivation improve a player enough to play in major events which not only enhances his personal reputation but also brings welfare to his country and has a positive effect on cricket. Everyone should expose any success for the spreading of cricket.
In Europe where Soccer, Rugby and Basketball are dominant games no one have any good information about this cricket just because of this we can say too many players from subcontinent in their national cricket teams so with this all western media is not HI lightening about this record It's not strange because it's not in their good copies even it's a world record and surely need some good encouragement for this young player.

With this all we also know Europeans have some personal issues as well as most of the English media never hi light French youths on their channels these things also have their impact and here in subcontinent it's a big news, but sadly we have no updates about this all as they have to be.

Despite the lack of encouragement from the ICC and a sharp reduction in the funds, some of the associate players are performing well. But from what I have seen in the past, most of these players get fed up with the lack of support and drop out after a few years. All these players are amateurs, and they find it very hard to balance their full-time job with national duty. When they need to make a choice, most of them will opt for full-time job. Even established associate nations such as Scotland and Netherlands have faced this issue.

One record was made to day in T20I cricket, which was largely ignored by the mainstream media. French player Gustav McKeon became the youngest ever to score a century in T20I. The record was held by Hazratullah Zazai of Afghanistan till now. Gustav achieved this feat during his second ever T20I match, which was played against Switzerland during the T20 World Cup Europe Sub-Regional Qualifier Group B. And better still, he is a citizen of France (the only French citizen in the playing XI for that match).

That's very interesting. I didn't even know the French had a team playing for T20 world cup qualifiers. I might go check out the highlights just to see how good a level of game they are playing. Since, both countries are relatively new to Cricket (France and Switzerland). Cricket is growing, that's nice to see as well. Joining the Olympics soon?

The match was part of a major tournament (T20 World Cup qualifier for Europe region). But there wasn't much interest even within the Europe region, because almost all the teams were 100% comprised of foreigners. The local media and local fans were not following the matches and they refused to support these teams. Overall, this tournament turned out to be a sham. More than a dozen teams participated and hardly anyone had natives playing for them. When that happens, achievements such as this one get overshadowed.

Why would anyone watch all the matches of the IPL? (Except it's related to their jobs)

How many times we watch all matches in the World Cup? Even hard core cricket fans don't follow every team's fixtures in the WC as they focus in high profile games, casual cricket fans only follow rivalry-matches only and so it's a same with the IPL.
I don't think so, because of the timing in which IPL matches start. Around 7:30 pm the match begins. This is the time by which most of the people sit to watch what have taken place around the world. During the time of IPL fixtures, the people who are watching the world happening will start watching IPL matches. One day if it interests, the next day onwards particular person will sit to watch IPL.
In Indian context timezone argument is correct as it's a prime time slot and families do get together and watch some action during dinner or so but no one can sit 4 hour on the trot for month. 1-2 hour yeah sure that happens all the time.

Not counting other subcontinent nation. Oceania countries especially Australia and NZ hardly watch IPL due to timezone (IPL do have fan following tho) unless someone has some stake in it like their fav players, franchise etc. Eng,SA,WI etc do have fair amount of audience but majority of em only follow their local players.

3-4 years ago, I used to watch almost all the IPL matches live. But now I don't do that. For this season (2022), I watched only 5-6 matches live. Party due to the repetitiveness, and then partly due to lack of free time. An average IPL match lasts for 3.5 to 4 hours and if we watch one of these matches, then the entire spare time for that day is gone. On the other hand, EPL matches last for around 1.5 hours. And the EPL season stretches for many months and most of the matches are being played on weekends. But IPL is having a jam packed schedule and all the matches will be played and completed in 2 to 2.5 months.

IPL was a long tournament and people didn't show much interest unless it reaches to the quarterfinal.
even in India people didn't have time to follow all the initial matches - there are so many teams in IPL on the other hand PSL has only 4 teams and it was far better than IPL

As day by day life is going to be tough for many around the glob, surely no one is caring about this all and have no enough time to watch these games like me is also one of these. In last IPL I just have 3 or 4 games live on TV otherwise mostly I was busy with my schedule and have no enough time for this all because other things are more important than this all now.

Even I was hard core fan of cricket for very long time but currently economic situation is bringing us deep down very badly and just having some updates and checking on sites is good daily doze for us if IPL is increasing teams and time then surely it's profitable for organizers, and they are going to have big profit, but we have to manage this all with our timetable which is more important.
