There is trouble even before the IPL is started. A COVID 19 positive case has been reported from the biosecure bubble of Mumbai Indians. Former Indian international Kiran More (who is currently part of the coaching staff for MI) has tested positive for COVID. I don't know how someone can have a positive test inside the bubble. Because individuals are placed inside the bubble after multiple negative tests.
Everyone will have to test the coronavirus again. If someone in the team is not positive, the team's matches will be postponed. In India, corona is now taking horrible forms. I think for Coronavirus some matches will be posponed. This season's IPL may not end on time.

Today there is another daily record, with more than 115,000 testing positive for the virus. In Mumbai alone more than 10,000 positive cases were reported today. In other metro cities also, the number of new cases are just exploding. More than 4,000 in Bangalore, while Delhi has reported 5,000 plus. I won't be that surprised, in case the IPL is postponed. The situation in India is really getting bad. Reminds me of the first wave that we had in September 2020 (even then, the daily numbers never crossed 100,000).

If the numbers continue to increase like this then I would think the IPL season will be postponed. Its going to be another year like last year in all sports until the vaccine roll out is spread far and wide around the world. Until then I think we'll see many sports delayed, even with these bubbles players are still catching the virus and officials so it might be best to postponed until its under control.

BCCI still don't want to move the matches from MI which maybe the root cause for all of these, and sadly MI squad members tested positive which means how the scenario is going to be because we have only few days left for the start of this season.  Sad

^^^ At the time of the IPL auctions, did Moeen Ali communicated to the BCCI that it will not be possible for him to wear alcohol related logos? If he made that request, then I am OK with an exception being given to him. But if this is a last minute request, then I have to say that he is going overboard. SNJ is sponsoring CSK for many years now (since 2019 if I am not wrong). I would be disappointed if they are given a raw deal here, despite spending a lot of money in sponsorship through all these years.

BTW, there are Muslim players such as Imran Tahir and KM Asif in the CSK squad, who have been wearing this jersey for long time now.
Some players give more important to their religious beliefs as well and one player who I know is Hasim Amla who is also not wearing such kind of advertisements while playing for his nation South Africa so it all depends on the individuals so we have to respect them for their efforts. I saw that CSK management accepted the request for the removal of SNJ logo on Moeen's jersey for 2021.
Such a proud Muslim, keep obeying his religious believe even as a athletes. His concern over wearing alcohol related logos to CSK are accepted, this is not only one example as you mentioned. Hat's off to CSK management for respecting his decision. It turns out both are alright with arrangement, nobody should make decisions about it.
Still there is no official statement about the request accepted but saw it on a news channel while I can't find the source on news sites or even on cricbuzz. We have to wait until he plays for CSK whether he is wearing the logo or not until that we can't trust any news.

A T20 series between Namibia and Uganda is taking place at Windhoek (Namibia). The hosts whitewashed the visitors by 3-0. I am interested in this series, because unlike the case with many of the other associate nations, both these teams are comprised mostly of citizens belonging to these nations. Next is the ODI series scheduled between these two teams, comprised of two matches.

Three days to go for the first match in IPL 2021, which will be played between Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chepauk.  Grin

^^^ If Moeen is so adamant about not wearing the SNJ 10000 logo, then he can be given the option of wearing the logo of other SNJ products, such as British Empire Premium Brown Sugar (SNJ conglomerate is one of the largest sugar producers in South India) or a logo of the hotels that are owned by the SNJ group (Hotel Anitha Towers and Hotel Nandini Palace). If Moeen still has a problem with these options, then his contract should be revised.
This shouldn't be a problem for him, after all he was part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Which is basically a Whisky brand (owned by Diageo group company)and RCB is founded and sponsored by Royal Challenge.

I guess Moeen Ali will not have any problem to wear the jersey which is free from alcohol/tobacco related advertisements. Instead of SNJ's alcohol related thing, if management makes any other replacement which are still belongs to SNJ, I guess Moeen Ali will accept that. This must be matter of conflict of personal interests between players and managements, but unfortunately it came to limetight due to media hype.

Moreover, we must respect individuals opinion and beliefs; there cannot be any rule to overcome those things by contracts. There are player supporting rules and organization which will come into scene if these things lead to revise of Moeen's contract. Like how management has agreement with players in similar manner internal players are also having their own right protecting agreement with management.

Moen Ali has been taken by Chennai Super Kings once after he got out from Royal Challengers Bangalore. He was auctioned for seven crore rupees. Now he have requested a good thing with the CSK authority and it has agreed to it. The CSK jersey had got SNJ 1000 logo, and he didn't want this to be on his jersey. He doesn't want to promote anything related to alcohol. The CSK authority have agreed and earlier similar thing was done by Hasim Amla. Good work from Moen Ali.
Why are they not promoting alcohol if they are paying the team to advertise them  Roll Eyes. Is this because of religious believes and even with that how come it is possible to skip where the contract is with the team so that everyone use them whenever they are in the ground. If everyone can pick and choose then it would be great  Grin.
How is the situation and things are getting worse everywhere and what is the situation with IPL as i saw an article about the situation getting worse in India as well.

Very unprofessional. A part of his salary comes from the sponsorship by SNJ 10000. As long as CSK is in a sponsorship deal with them, all the players are obliged to wear the logo. Those who have a problem with it should stay out of IPL. These guys need to treat IPL like a sports event and there is no need to mix religion here. If the BCCI allow this, then the next demand would be even more ridiculous.

You did the right thing, stay safe. Fingers crossed for Mumbai.
Another news coming out from Mumbai is that eight ground staff members tested positive for covid and with the situation getting worse you never know what will happen with the entire tournament. The recently concluded legends series was a disaster as the players tested positive after the series which includes Sachin Tendulkar, Badrinath and the Pathan brothers and we know these because they announced these in twitter and they might be others as well. Just curious to see how things will work in a situation like this.

Although it was unfortunate, the point to note here is that the players tested positive after the matches were finished. The organizer were able to complete the 2020–21 Road Safety World Series on time, because in between the tournament none of the players tested positive. Also, all of the matches were conducted in a single stadium in the same city (Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, Raipur), and obviously that helped.

Influence of Mumbai cricket association, not Ambani.

Why Mumbai Cricket Association? I mean they don't have anything to influence BCCI. Politically speaking BCCI is quite powerful on it's own today. State Associations aren't that sovereign in our country as they look. Moreover, with Jay Shah in the management team, I don't think there would have been lot of questions regarding who would be heard. Even Ambani factors aren't quite a reason because he won't earn a lot from non-Mumbai Indian matches. So I think we need to settle for the fact without any perfect answer. But yes Pandemic is a great concern now for the whole team. When last IPL was played things were quite settled even in India and despite that the folks moved to Dubai this year the Covid seems to me on peak and yet we are hosting the IPL right at the Corona Capital. Governments and Authorities can be wierd sometimes.
They were always dominant force in the Indian cricket (Selections criteria, Money and Political power). In recent time they are declining in terms of cricket but politically they are still very much strong. Gujarat also ranked up in the last decade or so but politically they are behind Mumbai by miles. Jay Shah is good with the lobbying and got plenty of experience under his belt but he's kid when comparing with the likes of Sharad Pawar, he holds the all key there.

Just curious to see how things will work in a situation like this.
With all the hurdles and the increasing case of corona virus means the BCCI will be forced to move the tournament elsewhere or will suffer the same fate as PSL and if that happens they have the money to move the tournament entirely to any other safe country and continue the matches within a month and i am not sure when PCB is planning to resume the PSL .
