I didn't knew about this series. Look like everyone is visiting England to play.  Smiley  First West Indies, then Pakistan and now Australia.
Rain will still play its part in these matches also because the venue is same and the weather at england is not predictable.
Yeah, the weather sucks but as per Google, its just cloudy in Southampton tomorrow and the other days seem fine too. Lets hope that Google is correct and we dont have any rain.

By the way i have forgotten who were qualified for the last 4 and how was each team performing  Cool  Need to recall the memories.
If I remember correctly it was Multan, Karachi and Lahore. No sure whether Peshawar or Quetta took the 4th spot though.

Edit: I was correct. It's Multan, Karachi, Lahore and Peshawar

Next tournament to watch is IPL where most of the matches will be thrillers.  Smiley

You missing the 3 T20's and ODI's in the Australian Tour to England which starts this Friday till Sep 16th Roll Eyes I think the Australian tour will be more interesting to watch than the recent Pakistan series and I really hope that there is no weather interference to ruin the fun.

Some challenges in front of BCCI and IPL

-Players pulling out their name, after Raina, Malinga new name is Kane Richardson, he and his wife expecting a baby.
-Elite ICC umpires are not very keen to join the league. Dharmasena already said NO....

Reminds me of the Sri Lanka tour of Pakistan in 2019. Back then a lot of the regular players pulled out, due to security issues. The SLCB was forced to send a second string side to Pakistan, but to their surprise the team performed rather well. Some of the players, such as Dhananjaya de Silva, Kasun Rajitha, Lasith Embuldeniya.etc went on to become regulars in the squad. The same can happen with the IPL. Absence of regular players means additional chances for the younger players.
Surely this could be great for IPL and new new youngsters as they can take good advantage of this golden opportunity even BCCI is already feeling good about tv viewership because they have some good market and its not going to hurt them few experts already saying average players can perform better then high profile players.

Localized and regional leagues are a great initiative. It would give established players much choices and new players much chances. Players move around the globe to play where they love and where they are loved. With every league having a minimum number of local players, the new players gets a chance to play with more experienced players from around the world. These leagues are not exactly a challenge to IPL but a platform that could bring new and talented players to IPL.

I like the idea of BPL, because the BCB started it off as a low-profile tournament and they never tried to challenge the established leagues such as the IPL and BBL. They were aware of their financial situation and made sure that the franchises and the organizers don't incur heavy losses. And that's why the BPL became a success and the SLPL became such an outright failure.

In case of SLPL, one of the mistakes they did was they expected the league to have good viewership from the global audience. That never happened. If you want to attract global audience, then you need the T20 heavyweights, such as Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Pollard, Russell, Gayle, Warner, Maxwell.etc.

I think every cricket board is trying to copy this idea to gain something now. And the enthusiasm has mostly come after the grand success of the Bangladesh premier league because Bangladesh being such a small nation has been practically able to make it a great success this is why Sri Lanka tried it too. But yes Sri Lanka has much lower fan following. I think a better idea for Sri Lanka could be to try and pitch Bangladeshi to merge their league with them and take profit sharing out of that league.

The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is more like a moderate success. Very few of the international superstars take part in BPL, and there were financial issues during the last edition. But to their credit, the BCB has managed to stage the tournament on a continuous basis since 2012. One thing to remember here is that the population of Bangladesh is almost 10 times that of Sri Lanka. That gives them a fairly big advantage. On top of that sizable Bangladeshi expat communities exist in nations such as UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, USA, UK.etc.

Lasith Malinga pulled out from the IPL due to personal reasons  Undecided and Sri Lanka starting their own T-20 tournament league from 14th Nov.

The SLCB came up with a franchise cricket league sometime ago, and this was a disaster in financial terms. They need to understand that Sri Lanka is a small country, which doesn't have enough resources to independently run a franchise league on its own. This is one of the reasons why New Zealand never tried their luck with the T20 league. CPL is a success only because the West Indian players have huge fan following in the sub-continent. Expect another loss making venture this time.

Missed yesterdays match, I had no clues that Pakistan won the first T20 against England. This why this team is truly unpredictable. You do not know what will happen next when these guys play. I will be waiting for the next match and hope to see them repeat the same performance.

Nope. Pakistan lost the first match and the second one was washed away. They won the third and last match. T20 is such an unpredictable format, and even teams such as Netherlands have defeated England in this version. It is like 50% skill and 50% luck. If luck is not favoring you, then you can go down even against minnows such as Scotland and Netherlands.
First was washed out and second won by England third won by Pakistan I agree with you twenty/20 is all about luck and skill any team can do good on day and all this happen but one thing is sure never right off Pakistan as they can fight back on any day as they done even as Moeen start charging I was sure they can easily won but suddenly Wahab change things for them.

OOPS!!!

I had no clue about the other two, my bad I got confused with so many matches happening suddenly it is hard to keep a track of all of them. Thanks for the heads up.

Don't get your hopes too high. There are multiple challenges. IPL involves 8 teams and that means a total contingent of 300-400 people. Already some of the CSK players have tested positive for COVID 19. There is a chance that more players may get infected during the course of the tournament. Things will get complicated if entire teams need to be quarantined. If that happens, then at least a few of the players may refuse to take part in the tournament any further.
Everyone who came positive recently had another test and results came negative so that's a good news.

I agree that when it comes to T20 cricket any team can win on the day, it can be said for most sports but I think T20 in more unpredictable then most sports as I think its an even playing field for all teams. In the longer forms of the game teams can recover but in T20 it is more difficult for this to happen unless its very early on but normally once a team gets the momentum its hard to stop whether its batting or bowling. Congrats to Pakistan on winning and at least tying the series.

Right now reports are not good about this as few players already feeling not good but quarantine is going on for few as CKS will resume training after few days but as I read few officials are still doing hard work for handling things in better way now this could be also factor for many players performance as they already feeling pressure specially after Raina announcement to leaving IPL this years addition.

The match was interesting and worth watching. After a long time, we saw a close finish match. Although overall series was a disappointment because of the rain affecting the matches.

Oh.. sorry for the mistake. So many matches going on and I am getting confused. Apart from the England vs Pakistan series, another T20 tournament is ongoing in the West Indies (the CPL). It is getting difficult to follow all these matches.  Grin

That said, I am not sure whether Pakistan can take too many positives from this tour. They had a great opportunity to win the first test match, but they wasted it. Most of their team members are above the age of 30 and few of the younger players have performed well in this tour. Naseem Shah and Shaheen Shah in particular were very disappointing.
