Untill there is a vaccine or all the country officially diclare that there are no virus only then we can think of such big events.
Vaccine takes years to develop (research, testing, trails, approval etc ) so it would be very difficult to create this with in 1 year, unless XI Jinping already hiding something under his sleeves.

Did they officially called it off? Yeah it seems one race (the novel corona) is ruling the world now. Not good.

The Olympics is not cancelled but they postponed it to a future date and that is the right decision to make, for a sport fan 2020 was the biggest with Olympics T20 world cups along with many fan favorite boxing and MMA match ups and many Football tournaments that were suspended for the time being and this is by far the worst year in my life with death around the corner like feeling.
Well if the condition does not improve worldwide then it is not easy to have a big event like this. Untill there is a vaccine or all the country officially diclare that there are no virus only then we can think of such big events.

Indeed 2020 turned out to be a year which will be remembered in the history for the disaster. A microscopic cell germ causing all this. It's unbelievable.

Olympics also cancelled. I thought 2020 would be a good year but it's the most unfortunate year.  I want 2021 to come soon as when the start is so bad, the end might be even worse Lips sealed

Haha its loosely translate in this context "Thank God"
Hindi and Urdu ( official language of Pakistan) are similar when spoken but they have 2 different script. (When writing in Roman script its looks almost same and sometimes no google translater can help )

Sukriya (Thanks) Indy bhai

I got this from a telegram sticky LOL
Google sucks. Once I used it for a translation to see what it gives as outcome and trust me it literary changed the meaning of the statement :-P
Good to know some different language.

Situation is udner control after lockdown but peoples not taking this all very seriously so authorities now calling army for control as most of youths playing cricket and other sports on street which are not good but hopefully we will fight and survive because now many things going in positive way most effected area is Sindh but Chief Minister doing good job for bringing all things normal in near future kids and youths are really frustrating but they need to be calm for some days for safety.
Good to hear that government are well aware and trying to save their citizens. I bet those kids have not much idea about what is going on. Their parents needs to come forward and force them to stay at home.

^^ I didn't heard any official statement so far but as of now India is in complete lockdown for 21 days so no one thinking about sport or cricket anymore. 99% chances are "No IPL" this year.

100% no IPL. When people are panicking for grocery and medicines, who'll bother about IPL  Sad

Lock down started which is really worst for many poors like me as now we have to do some hard things for next few weeks but still its better as we have to sacrify for better future IPL is in limbo but still hopes are high for this all.
If I am not wrong the you are from Pakistan, right? How are things there? It's seems you are lockdown too? I saw a fake news in the social media about Putin to let 800 lions to leave on the open street which is obviously fake by the way. The image was taking sometimes in April 2016 and it was somewhere in Johannesburg.

Lockdown for 21 days!
That's very hard for a nation with this large number of population. I can imagine the poor citizens who do not have enough to bring food in their mouth. Is your government doing anything for them? What is their plan for them?

By the way, welcome back.  No IPL will be boring lol
Common people gets rekt every time.

Center and State Gov doing their best by providing some relief with money to poor citizens but its not enough considering the population and major economic relief announcements are yet to come from finance minister, hopefully tomorrow.

Welcome back to you too... Ban got lifted early hahaha

This is sad. As far as I know, India is over populated country and large number of people lives under poverty. Only few are very wealthy.

I am not a big fan of Olympic events but it's a spirit. For athletes it's the platform they want to make history and shine. The last thing I heard about this Olympic is that it's still 4 months away to start but in the next two months the athletes will start their training or something I guess.

The biggest difference is that IPL is conducted every year and they have to cancel this years event and then carry on with the even as usual from next year while Olympics is conducted once every 4 years Wink.
Is this what you are predicting or Indian Cricket board already give the official statement.

Have Fun )@@( Stay Safe
By considering India's population against their available medical facility and general public's awareness on corona, I am afraid their lock down precaution measurements may not serve its actual purposes.
Things are different in different states in India, Kerala does have good medical facility and the government is providing free treatment and food for the patients and there are no death till now and it is the first state that got affected in India because of its high NRI population, the situation in Mumbai is that the government has ordered a complete lock down including grocery stores and people are still moving outside their houses even in this situation.

The only possibility will be, if their current lock down precaution works as expected then we may expect IPL matches to happen behind locked doors. Yes, government and BCCI may plan for IPL matches without allowing viewers into stadium.
There is no way that a group sport can happen even behind locked doors, if there is a extended lock down there is no way the rule will allow a sport like cricket as every team consist of 15 members then their coaching team and a minimum of 100 personal will be present and considering those it is hard to assume we will see a match.

Just today, 2020 Japan Olympics got postponed by a year. There will be no surprises if same happens to 2020 edition of IPL as well.

From what I have heard, the rules being laid for the lockdown are extremely strict. No one can venture outside their own homes, without explicit permission from the authorities. And I don't think that they'll lift the lockdown completely after just 21 days. The restrictions may be eased in a phased manner. And for the IPL, the BCCI needs to get all the arrangements done, at least a week before the tournament. For example, they can't get the pitch ready in a day or two. It takes at least a week.

Yeah then in that case seems very hard to have IPL this season. Can't we have 2 matches a day and make the season a quick one?

IPL 2019 had a total of 60 matches, with each team playing a minimum of 14. So ideally of they can schedule 2 matches per day, then it may get completed within a month. But the problem is that the TV revenues will go down, if we have two matches on weekdays.

LOL.. Olympics happens once every four years and therefore they can postpone it by an year. But IPL is an annual event and they can't postpone it. There is another edition of the tournament scheduled for 2021.

I have my hopes high coz of how well we have handled the situation. Considering the population we have I expected quite some large figures but we are doing great so far. So if this lockdown becomes successful then maybe we have chance of seeing some IPL this year.

But now I think there will be a lot of time even after lockdown being spent on discussions and stuff so it's likely that we could have a cancelled season.

Even there are betterment in coming days compared to last few days still I doubt that government will allow people to gather before end of April or at beginning of may month (after the 2nd week of May, there will be less changes for IPL to happen this year).

This is really worst situation as developed countries fail to control this so developing countries like India and Pakistan have no enough resources to control this so this is case Most chances we will not able to have any good activity in next few months because watching on media numbers are increasing very quickly and lock down is going to increase for many weeks.

Its possibility but weather could be also big problem in coming days as its could be very hot and humidity which will create problems for players as this is off season for here in sub-continent most of peoples don't like to play games.

With the government decision of locking down for next 21 days starting from tomorrow it seems that most likely that IPL may get cancelled as even after 21 days it will depends how the situation is and still would require some gap in order to juts take some precaution. So now this year we have to stay without IPL and quite heavy losses to many people and business associated with it.

Well if we count 21 days from now we will have lockdown till 14th April and BCCI has suspended IPL till 15th April. So I think we can still have IPL this season unless there is furthermore extension to that lockdown period. All depend on how situation goes on later on here.

I still hope for IPL this season if situation resolves by 3rd-4th week of April.
