Spinner in CSk : Imran Tahir, Karn Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner, Harbhajan Singh and now Piyush chawla and Sai Kishore. then they have one or two part timer spinner too.

Out of this, Imran Tahir and Ravindra Jadeja seems to be confirmed slots and others may get a chance only if someone out of these two gets injured. And the 3rd choice is going to be Mitchell Santner, and not Chawla (since his batting skills are better). I don't understand the point in splurging almost $1 million on a player, who may not get a single game during the whole tournament.

I think Dhoni have different game plans for this season because CSK bought only bowlers in the bidding action it seems to Dhoni understand the other teams strength and what CSK need exactly.

What your thoughts about CSK bought Piyush Chawla for 6.75 cores (INR) and what strategies behind Dhoni go with Piyush Chawla because there are so many young players are in list with good form.

Quote
players bought in auction: 4 (Piyush Chawla, Josh Hazlewood, Sam Curran and R Sai Kishore)

I too feel that he was bit expensive but his selection make sense, CSK and Dhoni like to keep tab on any spinner or leg spinner because their home ground is spin friendly and historically every team had nightmare when playing against CSK in their back yard.

If I was the franchise owner, then I wouldn't give anything more than the base price for Piyush Chawla (20 Lakh or around $30,000). I heard that it was Dinesh Karthik who went all guns blazing for Chawla in the auctions and there may be something behind the curtains that people may not understand. I don't want to go in detail, but "DK" is very close to N Srinivasan and his name was heard a lot of times when CSK was banned in 2015 for match fixing.

I guess another of his fellow team mates Cottrel was also a wastage of above 8 crore rupee. He don't deserve such huge amount of money. He won't get a good time in IPL, I can bet for that. Maxwell as well have been over-priced. These guys are making money with the fame from the name.
Seriously? Cottrell and Maxwell are 2 of the best buys in my opinion.

- Cottrell is easily my favorite bowler in the current West Indian lineup due to his pace and celebrations. He will be a treat to watch.

- Maxwell is recovering from mental illness and recently performed really well(Don't remember the tournament) which goes to show how popular he still is. Easily one of my favorite T-20 batsmen.

Bumrah is back but they made Rohit and Shami rest for this upcoming T20 and brought in Sanju Samson. When Rohit is such an important player, why they made him rest in an important game against SL especially when SL defeated Pak in Pak? I hope they don't skip him for the ODIs against Aus as well.

Bhai, Rohit deserve the rest. he's playing non-stop cricket for quite some time now, almost 45 + games this year. Australia tour starting from mid January so my understanding is that he should be back by then.

The cricket betting industry is very organized now and millions are being waged on relatively minor leagues such as the TNPL and the Pokhara Premier League. A few months back, I was really surprised to see a viewer count in excess of 10,000 for a match between Zimbabwe and the Netherlands. Then I realized that the vast majority of the viewers were from the Indian sub-continent, and they are watching these matches because they had wagered bets.
How did you analyse the view count, i did not understand that part, the betting industry is huge in sports and there are organised betting and the betters can manipulate smaller games because of the high rewards they can give to those players, it is nothing new, if international players can be lured to dance to their tune then why not small players.

Well said unless person who does not have anything to do or does not want to do anything in life would only see the match ball by ball else people nowadays just take a glimpse or in between check the scores and go back again to their work.
As @Vishnu.Reang said the gambling industry is really huge and they will be taking a keen interest on all these matches, everyone might not be seeing all these matches but if we have an incentive to watch the matches then you will definitely watch all the matches, the gambling industry is huge and billions of dollars are wagging annually in legal gambling sites and just imagine the unregistered illegal gambling, so it is a huge industry and there will be people who will be making money watching these matches.

I once told about the  Mzansi Super League here but no one look interested in that league and therefore we had no discussions about it. Although I was watching this  league actively but did not share anything here buz of lack of interest. I just want to inform you that today is the last day of the leqgue and the final is in progress at  Paarl between TS and PR.  AB de Villars is playing for TS and I hope they can win this one.

To put it honestly, nowadays too many franchise T20 leagues have been started and it is getting slightly repetitive with players such as Chris Gayle and Andre Russell appearing for 5-6 different franchises in a single year. We have the Pokhara Premier League (Nepal) and the Qatar T10 League ongoing now, apart from the Mzansi Super League. It is actually very tiring to keep track of all these leagues.

If you are a true cricket lover than you should follow all the leagues and watch all the matches. The ones you missed can be viewed later on you tube but ideally you should watch all the match in full Live. This shows our dedication and true love for the cricket.

Who in the world have the time to watch all the matches live and in full ? No one has this much spare time. Even people these days do not have time to sit 9 hrs in front of TV to watch the whole 100 overs ODI and you are saying to watch all the matches  Shocked

There are people who follow cricket as a religion who stream the matches in their mobile even when you are at the office, most of the time what i have seen is people from India watching the matches where India is playing and not the rest of the countries.

The interest is greater for matches involving India. But the audience base is so huge that the Indian viewership has emerged as one of the main revenue drivers for the foreign T20 franchise leagues, even when the Indian players are not playing. For the recently concluded Caribbean Premier League, there were more viewers in India than in the West Indies. This may not be true for the other leagues such as the BBL and the BPL, but the Indian cricket fans do contribute a lot to the revenues of other cricket boards around the world.

I too really wanted to follow the religion pretty close but time is not allowing me to follow my religion and that is the biggest problem, glad that you are having the time to watch every match and there is a time for everything when you are young and so enjoy the time you have right now because life becomes tough when you grow up  Wink.

LOL... completely agreed with what you posted. Here in India, now we have close to two dozen sports channels and therefore you can be assured that a minimum of 2-3 live cricket matches will be shown in TV at any given point of time. On top of that, there are other matches which are being live-streamed in YouTube. For my part, I hardly ever watch any tournament other than IPL and the BBL. I watch other leagues such as BPL and MSL only occasionally, as they don't have the same standard as IPL/BBL.

Three T20 leagues are ongoing right now - Big Bash League, Bangladesh Premier League and the Pokhara Premier League.

Sydney Thunder won the toss and elected to field against Adelaide Strikers in the BBL, and we will witness some solid action from Alex Carey and Phil Salt. They'll be up against the formidable Thunder spin trio of Chris Green/Arjun Nair/Jonathan Cook.

The BBL match between Khulna Tigers and Sylhet Thunder will get started in around half an hour. Rilee Rossouw and Mushfiqur Rahim are playing for KT, while Mosaddek Hossain and Ebadot Hossain are the stars from Sylhet Thunder.

Shimron Hetmyer is sold to Delhi capitals for a million dollars which is around 7.75 crore in Indian rupees and it is a really huge amount , get used to the Indian numerical system if you are looking for the prices in the IPL  Tongue.

These guys are regarded as T20 specialists and that's the reason why the franchises are spending huge amounts of money on them. The West Indian players in particular are highly sought after by the IPL franchisees and in case of both Hetmeyer and Cottrell, their good performances during the ongoing ODI series against India played a big role in attracting huge bids from the franchisees. The case of Maxwell is also similar. He is considered as someone who can consistently score at a strike rate greater than 200.

I think the reason Sheldon Cottrell got a huge value is simply because of his personality in the ground where he gives a salute with every dismissal
If you start getting selected because of your personality then it will be a hard thing for the viewers as all the players will start their own character like we see in the UFC which is replicating the fake Wwe. I like seeing personalities in the cricket field, Andre Nell was a character as well as all the Aussie players who could have a verbal spar against their opponents in the field but if you incentive players for their character then it will create a huge problem.

I think the reason Sheldon Cottrell got a huge value is simply because of his personality in the ground where he gives a salute with every dismissal and he might be used for advertisement and i think if they are picked the teams have the ability to control what all advertisement they get and may be he is paid because of that value but Maxwell is a hard hitter of the ball and when he is in form he will clear any boundary.
