The 2020 ICC T20 World Cup will be played at Australia and the results from today's match is not very encouraging for Sri Lanka. First of all, they could not directly qualify for the Super-12 because of their low rank. So they need to play the preliminary round, unlike the other big teams. And if they lose to the big 3 teams by this much huge margins, then I am afraid that they'll become irrelevant in international cricket.
Are you sure that Srilanka is not confirmed for the next world cup while non international teams playing for qualification can get into the world cup and i am certain that Srilanka will destroy all the teams with ease and if this is true this will be another blunder by the ICC and i really wish that what you say is not true as there is no logic behind that as they can accept who are not at all in the rankings but they will reject top teams playing international cricket Shocked.

SriLanka are confirmed to be playing in T20 Worldcup next year however SriLanka and Bangladesh will play in the group stage of the tournament.

They have a few players who have excelled in the T20 format during the past few years, such as Rashid Khan, Mujeeb ur Rahman and Mohammed Nabi. Playing in the T20 leagues around the world has definitely helped the Afghan players.
All 3 players that you mentioned honed their skills through the IPL and became criticial components of their respective teams which is why it makes sense why I like to call them as the MRM trio.

Rashid Khan is my favorite one among them and I observed that he is a superstar in SRH. If Afghanistan batsmen also improve their game dramatically, this team will surely rise in both the ODI and test rankings in the future.

Afghanistan has come a long way while Sri Lanka seems to be in tatters(Excluding the recent Pakistan tour). If Sri Lanka does not continue winning, I do agree that they might become irrelevant in the coming years.

Afghanistan is ranked 7th as per the ICC T20I rankings, but their ranking for the other two formats are not that good. The odds were never all that good from the start of the first game. Its best to bet live in betting when it comes to T20 as the game can change quickly and that's when you can make some good money betting live. I normally don't touch T20 when it comes to betting but I do like live betting for this format.
Live betting is still risky when it comes to T-20 format. Test cricket seems to be the best option followed by ODI format in my opinion. T-20 Cricket has too many dynamic variables which is why I avoid them unless I am 99% confident.

When the direct qualification slots were decided, Sri Lanka was ranked 9th as per the official ICC T20 rankings, and therefore missed the slot. Bangladesh was ranked 12th. On the other hand, Afghanistan was ranked 7th and they gained direct entry.

That is how the format for the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup works.

The top 8 teams have been granted automatic entry to the Super-12 stage. The remaining 4 teams comes from qualification phase, and this phase includes a total of 8 teams (Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and 6 teams from the T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019) . I am not sure why you are so surprised about it. Even during the last T20 world cup, the format was the same (back then, it was Super-10 instead of Super-12).

When the direct qualification slots were decided, Sri Lanka was ranked 9th as per the official ICC T20 rankings, and therefore missed the slot. Bangladesh was ranked 12th. On the other hand, Afghanistan was ranked 7th and they gained direct entry.

I share the same sentiment when it comes to T20 as you never know who will perform on a given day and it is hard to analyze before the match, even in this match Srilanka was touring Australia but i never expected a one sided game as they were coming from an impressive series in Pakistan where they white washed the first ranked team and now this performance is not what i expected from them.

A one sided match we had seen in this first T20 match and all the top order batsman made min 50 and this has boosted the opening of the series and for the OZ specially. SL would like to break the opening stand quickly in the second match else they would lose the match again.
I missed the match and the sad part is that we will not be getting good odds in the upcoming matches because the Australians dominated the entire match with bat and ball and looking at the score board it looks like a club team facing a top team, the Australian bowlers destroyed them without giving away any free runs and i am yet to watch the highlights.

Yes mate the first T20 match between Australia VS SriLanka was disappointed to me because one sided match and I never expected from SriLanka team, but Australian did really well thought the match in batting and bowling, I hope that SriLankan team will get come back to winning track next match.

It is true that now odds will not be a good one but more concerned is that SL team would be demotivated with the kind of loss they had and now they will need to recover and bounce back if they want to make any impact in the series.

If Srilanka is able to win the toss and able to score runs then we can expect a good match as they could put pressure on the Aussie batsman if they are able to score a huge total but with the way in which the Aussies bowled today i find it difficult to see any upset, there was a time when they had power hitters but they lack that and they are not even experimenting as they have power strikers like Thisara Perera who have a really high strike rate and if they allow him to open in an innings we might see some explosive starts for Srilanka, not sure whether he is in the team.

Kinda agree with that. Shorter format is kinda favoured to batsman more than bowler. Also the fielding restrictions gives them more benefit since they are able to play more freely like you said.
If you notice the grounds are much smaller now and all the rules favor the batsman and it is really hard to be a good bowler in these situations as a miss hit will go over the ropes, i would like to see some equal playing field but the more commercialized cricket became more rules are favoring the batsman so that they could get more air time.

You also should have hitting batsman to chase that score and I felt like Sri Lanka lacked aggressive players like a side should have in yesterday's clash.
The Australians were on point and not giving away free space to launch these shots  Cheesy.

Certainly must be relieving for Australia for Warner to come back to his form again but we have yet to test out how he perform against side with good bowlers. Apart from Malinga I don't see bowlers who are quite good. We have seen Warner struggling in Ashes against England's bowlers so not quite sure if he can perform against good bowlers.
There are not much incredible bowlers in the world to terrorize batsman in the shorter format of the match, Warner was a bunny to Stuart Board and he is only playing in Test matches and the pitches made for T20 helps batsman and there is not time for swing too, so the format is made for batsman to play freely and only the best bowlers could contain the run flow.

Kinda agree with that. Shorter format is kinda favoured to batsman more than bowler. Also the fielding restrictions gives them more benefit since they are able to play more freely like you said.

With a huge score to chase it is not easy for any team and Srilanka admitted defeat after giving away that much runs.

When it comes to IPL, my support goes for Chennai kings under the leadership of MS Dhoni and i am guessing the next cup will be lifted by them. The defending champions, Mumbai looks strong too and high chances that they will reach last leg this time as well. My bets on finale between CSK and MI.

Here we go, another Cryptotalk spammer messing with ongoing discussion Undecided quoting the 10-month-old OP and completely being offtopic by talking about IPL when it's not even close and diverted the topic from ongoing qualifiers and the SL-AUS series. I hate it when such things happen.

I don't think the SL team will win any of the matches against Australia in their home ground even if they managed to get a few wickets. Because, all the top-notch SL players are retired except for maybe Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mattews. So we have only one top-notch player playing for the Srilankan side that is Lasith Malinga. I know that he can create some serious upsets with his bowling, but I highly doubt that his fellow teammates will able to counter them.

The latest news from the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier is that Papua New Guinea has almost qualified for the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup. It is still "almost", because Scotland is playing the Netherlands now and if the latter wins by a big margin, then they have a chance of overtaking Papua New Guinea as the top team in Group A. As of now, the top 4 sides in Group A are PNG (10 points), Netherlands (08), Namibia (08) and Scotland (6).

In Group B, no one has confirmed their slot yet. The top 4 as of now are: Ireland (08), Oman (08), UAE (6) and Hong Kong (6). The remaining matches are Oman vs Jersey and UAE vs Canada. So the ranking can still change, but as of now it looks like Oman will top the group as Jersey is a very weak team. And this is how the tournament format works:

1. Top ranked teams from both groups qualify for the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup.
2. Second and third ranking sides from opposite groups play each other. Winner qualifies for the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup. The loser from these matches play against the 4th placed teams from both groups and the winners from these matches qualify for the 2020 ICC T20 World Cup.

Under Ms Dhoni Chennai kings is the team to beat in the IPL and the ease in which they are winning the tournament is astonishing and the amount of times they reached the final speaks for their performance as a team and in the history of IPL they reached the finals eight times and none of the teams play with that level of consistency and remember they were banned for two years.
CSK also boasts the biggest fan following in the country. There was a video released sometime back which showed them following the CSK bus. Was insane. With Dhoni at the helm, CSK will continue performing well in the future too.

Srilanka beat the number one T20 team with ease but the number 5 team trashed them Cheesy.
This is why rankings are not everything. Upsets happen and underdogs do win sometimes though Australia here was never an underdog to begin with. As expected, Warner(The beast) is back in form and Australia rocked that match.
