Their 2-1 loss against Afghanistan in the T20 series was unexpected. That said, I would still say that this series will be evenly contested. Not all of them may be part of the squad, but I could see a few stars in their lineup, such as Kieron Pollard, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Evin Lewis, Nicholas Pooran and Sherfane Rutherford. Please don't forget the fact that T20 is the weakest format for India, and the strongest format for the West Indies.

There is no change in the team and West Indies is playing with the same team they faced Afghanistan, even in the series against India Kieron Pollard is the captain and Jason Holder is the only member in the team that i can recognize, so i am not expecting a close match against India as they will be playing with their top players and if Afghanistan could trouble West Indies, India will destroy them easily.

West Indies was not playing with their best team against Afghanistan and you cannot say that the moral will be down when their star players return for the India series and i expect they will be facing India with their full bench strength as the leagues they were playing are over and now they will be available for selection for the India series and West Indies have the power hitting players to defeat any time and i expect a good battle.

Obviously it is not very easy to replace legendary players such as Mahendra Singh Dhoni. But as you pointed out, India is a huge country with a population of 1.4 billion, and there is no dearth of talent. When Sachin Tendulkar announced his retirement, the same argument was put forward. But then in just a few years players such as Virat Kolhi and Rohit Sharma stepped in to fill the vacuum left by Sachin. It is not right to compare two players who have played their game in different time periods facing different bowlers. But in my opinion, Virat Kohli is the best batsman India has ever produced, because he has performed consistently well against all the opponents in all types of surfaces.

Do you think having a lot of talent sometimes is not good for a team in the long run ? If the good players are not able to make the position in the team because of even more good players, then this will ruin the career of those players who are not able to make place in the team despite being well talented.
Also it will put extra pressure on the players because if they fail to perform, they will be immediately replaced.

The problem with Pant is that he’s trying very hard to replace Dhoni, and he’s putting lots of pressure on himself to perform and it’s starting to effect his natural game. In my opinion Pant can become one of the best wicket keeper in the world, but the media and the fans need to stop comparing him with Dhoni for that to happen. @SaShiRaJaVu that’s precisely the problem everyone is focused on thinking the former Indian captain cannot be replaced, but no one is focusing on allowing Pant to be himself they all want him to replicate Dhoni and this decision is backfiring on him.

Rishabh Pant got many opportunities and he is yet to prove his worth, he is a young talent but i have seen him missing catches and stumping chances and he needs to improve those wicket keeping skills and his batting is also not that great as he is struggling with the bat too, if there are other young talents then you need to give them opportunities too and if they are performing well then he will have a slot and if not they will get replaced eventually.

I am really disappointing with the selectors for not giving a chance to players and then excluding which will demotivate any player, he should have given a chance and see how he performs in the international stage and rather than giving him a chance he is excluded in the test series, i used to see these kind of procedures in the past where players will be selected for tours and not play a game and then gets excluded.

What happened to Sanju Samson was disappointing and demoralizing. The same happened to Karun Nair, when he was similarly dropped from the squad to be replaced with Hanuma Vihari. The Indian team selection is really sub-standard. Even now closeness to the officials and support from the state associations matter a lot while getting selected for the national team. The Zonal system for selectors needs to be replaced with a better system, in which the power lies with the captain.

Even with the selected team, i am sure India will easily win against the West Indian T20 team.

There is no doubt that India will win the series against West Indies with the bowling and the batting power India has but in the series the West Indies is bringing back their specialist players and hence it will be a really good contest. When you are selecting a players and not giving a chance to play he is not gaining any experience, they should allow the player to play a couple of matches if they are selected rather than warming the bench.
