Let's awake this topic for the upcoming India vs WI serious and also for the T20 blast. Not sure if anyone is watching the matches in T20 blast. https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/_/id/8053/season/2019/vitality-blast

No I'm not watching this T20 blast as I don't get these matches here to watch. I am interested in the up coming T20 World Cup qualifier matches to see which team can qualify for the next T20 World Cup. Nepal have been on the improve recently so I'm thinking that they will win and qualify.

Anyone following the score of Pakistan Women vs South Africa Women T20 match. I think the favorite is Pakistan here although they scored only 128 runs after losing 5 wickets.

In response South Africa Women managed to score 70 runs for one wicket after 13 over so far. I have seen other day a women t20 and I can tell you these 128 runs to chase a lot for them LOL.

@Royse777 I didn’t watch the match live but time to time I was seeing the scores online, this match was not entertaining enough for me and I’m glad many here feel the same way. While low scoring chasing matches are fun to watch once in a while, but the problem with women’s cricket is that each and every match of theirs turns out to be low scoring. What’s ironic is that South Africa batted 119 balls out of 120 to chase a small target of 128 runs, and towards the end I felt bad for the spectators who came to watch them.

Well South Africa won having one ball in hand. I think the women cricket is not that much entertaining. These days people like to see high scoring matches and if you see the women cricket then you will see they don't score much.

For example this match. The target was only 128 runs or so. But South Africa team had hard time to chase it.

Well, being a woman I hardly ever watch these women's matches. They are not as exciting as the men's matches. There are no big hitters like Kohli or Warner and the pace bowlers don't have the speeds that Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins possess. Even the spin bowling is without variety. I have watched a few matches (long back), but never found it entertaining enough.

I still don't understand why women play cricket ? Is it just compulsory that every game should have a women version of it too ?

There are few games which are only suited to Men and cricket is one of them.

Yeah... I checked the scores at espncricinfo.com. Not a big fan of women's cricket and I was more concerned about the Sri Lanka vs Scotland match (which got washed out). My limited understanding is that Pakistan is not one of the stronger teams in women's cricket. Apart from Sana Mir, I don't know the names of any of their players.

Yes, India has got a huge viewership for IPL or the T20 tournaments. Same as that India has also got the viewers for 50 overs  ODI. From my view there is nothing as T20 and 50 overs ODI, everything is viewed as cricket. If a survey is taken for the viewers there might be small difference which is based on the time taken for the completion of a match.

What I was saying was nowadays people don't have the luxury of spending 8 hours or more to watch a cricket match. A T20 match takes approximately 3 hours, and although it is still longer than a football match, most of the people can afford to spend that much time in front of the TV. Anyway, I don't want to make too many assumptions. What I will do is that I will compare the TRP figures for the IPL final with the CWC final, once these tournaments are over (I guess the data for India will be available from the BARC website). Will post here once the data is available.
When it comes to an ODI, it is big as spending a whole day onto the match. With T20 though it takes half the time of an ODI viewers find the time getting passed very fast. In simple terms when there is an ODI viewers just view the score through some apps and when it is a T20 people intend to watch the entire match.

Agreed. The T20 tournaments have changed the Cricketing world in a big way and they have become my favorites(Domestic and International).

IPL is my favorite followed by the T20 World Cup which provide entertaining contests in a short span of time.

Lol this thread still alive Cheesy IPL betting thread got the all attention.
Same thing going to happen with Cricket world cup thread too?  Huh  just checked you already created new thread for World Cup betting  Smiley

Not very surprising. India contributes to more than 80% of the cricket viewership figures (if you add the expats as well) and if you take the TRP ratings for the entire tournament, then IPL will be far ahead of CWC 2019. On top of that the interest in 50 over matches is diminishing, as the younger fans are shifting towards the T20 format.

I’ll agree there’s huge number of Indians watching IPL, however I feel over the years it has become a global tournament. I don’t think it’s fair to compare T20 matches with 50 over matches, as both are different and entertaining in their own ways. When you speak of diminishing interest in 50 overs I feel you’re wrong about it, as the 50 over match between India vs Pakistan in the World Cup will break all viewership record of t20 matches.

I am not sure whether the India vs Pakistan match will go ahead as planned. There is a lot of pressure from the Indian public and the politicians for boycotting this match. Personally I am against any such move, but a lot depends on the prevailing political climate and the personal decision of the top players such as Virat and Dhoni.
I would not support such a move too and I think they might go ahead with the match since its been sometime since the terrorist attack and India's surgical strike. The news reports also mentioned that tickets were sold out too which is why it will most likely go ahead as planned.

Doubt it. The IPL is easily the most popular cricket league in the world currently and even the World cup won't surpass it in terms of popularity. It makes sense since many people don't have the time to watch 100 overs of cricket when compared to just 40 overs. On top of this, IPL is way more entertaining in every aspect.

But I guess some people will create-
1. Discussion of all matches of India
2. Discussion of all matches of Pakistan
3. Discussion of all matches of X
4. Discussion of all matches of Y

I don't get why people don't be logical. The more people are discussing at one place, the more informative and intwresting it will be. Why people create new thread instead of discussing in existed thread?
