Apart from Maldives, all the other countries are 100% expat based, so I don't have much interest in the matches. Winner of this tournament will join other 7 teams in regional final, from where the top-2 countries will qualify for the ICC T20I World Cup in 2024. Mongolia is finally out of the Asian Games men's cricket competition. They made 61/9 today, batting first. But Maldives scored the required runs in just 6.4 overs, with 9 wickets to spare. It's hard to believe until I find the highlights for the match and see it with my own eyes.And what Mongolia team responded in return, was totally the opposite. The whole team were bowled out at 41.
I think we will be doing an injustice towards Mongolia if we expect them to win this match. After all Nepal is a very good and improved team compared to Mongolia. It is true that we never expected this kind of performance from Nepal. We thought they would perform well. Maybe even get closer to the 200mark score. But I dont think anyone actually predicted that they are going to score more than 300 in a T-20 match.
