Yeah, every match of IPL cost around 105 crores INR for the next 5 years and many pundits believe that it should've been higher, at least for the digitals.
But the current price makes sense as some of the key players like Disney, Amazon etc chickened out early. In a hypothetical scenario, BCCI missed out on around a Billion dollars.
This is too much money bro, too much. That's the prime reason why BCCI is sole leader and enjoys power in icc. I am sure with every passing year more money will come into this. No where else in the world we have so much craze for cricket. India has huge population which is crazy for cricket and as long as this craze is there BCCI will continue to print more money out of cricket.
Where this huge money goes by the way? Used only by BCCI alone or it goes to national treasury?
IPL revenue is based on the 50-50 model. BCCI keeps 50% and the remaining 50% of the amount gets divided among each franchise equally. Gate collection and merchandise sales etc are not included in the IPL revenue, this revenue goes directly to the franchise, not BCCI.
No there is no concept of a national treasury in BCCI, they don't even pay any taxes, at least direct taxes. A big chunk of BCCI revenue goes to all state cricket bodies (38 teams), it includes all levels of cricket (M/F) Junior/senior schools, State level and infrastructure, overall it's a transparent process.
And this is an unofficial stand, some small % also goes to big guns as bribes, mainly politicians (not the ruling party) but every stakeholder and almost every major party in India has a stake in the state bodies and it's nonpartisan.
