Ireland can play spin but the pitch is suitable for pacers I guess. In all Ireland has shown that it can fight & perform well with the big team, which they have shown recently in the concluded matches. Another reason is that Ireland has attained some crucial experience whereas Afghanistan has lacked it as they have not y7et played matches with teams like India and Newzealand.

What happened to Afghanistan? Such a horrible performance. If they had at least 140 runs on the board, then there was a chance. But target of 123 was too small. Ireland still struggled to reach their target, with Paul Stirling once again getting out cheaply. Harry Tector and Curtis Campher also disappointed. They managed to win the match, but not in a convincing manner. Anyway, for now Ireland will be relieved. They are having second consecutive win, after 5 successive defeats. They need to win the series now and for that they need one more win.

But every player is performing very well against relatively less strong Afghanistan. So Ireland secured victory in the second match.

Not sure about this. IMO, they have consistently underperformed. This time they actually managed to win matches, and that should be a big relief for them. But in order to justify the increased fund allocation from the ICC, they need to win matches on a regular basis, and that too against strong teams. Winning matches against Zimbabwe and Afghanistan once is a while is not going to help for too long. The world cup is just a few months away. Their performance in Australia will be closely watched before the fund allocation for 2024-31 cycle.
