Delhi Capital Women VS UP Warriors Women

Delhi Capitals Women's Team is now playing against the UP Warriors Women's Team. And it looks like Delhi is going for a very easy win. UP Warriors' players' collection was only 138 runs. It is not enough collection if they want to win against a strong team like Delhi. At least more than 160 were required to be collected. At the end of 14 overs, Delhi Capital's women's team collected 114 runs. Delhi needs only 25 runs from 36 balls to win. Delhi is going to get an easy win in this match. My guess is Delhi Capital Women's team will be the champions unless there is an accident. The players of this team are in great form now.

After losing 5 matches consecutively, RCBW has now won two successive matches. On the other hand, Mumbai lost both of their last two.
A lot of drama in the current match between MI and RCB at the moment. MI will still win thanks to RCB's small score, but I have no idea why MI are hemorrhaging wickets even though they just need 6 more runs to win.

Edit: MI just wrapped up the game thanks to Smriti helping them at the end. Looks like they directly qualified for the final.

At this point, Delhi Capitals Women and Mumbai Indians Women are at the top with equal points in the points table, but in the NRR rating Delhi Capitals Women gets +1.978 points at while on the other hand, the second position is Mumbai Indians Women +1.725. However, there is no room for anyone to invade. Mumbai Indians Women now seems to me to be favorites and hope they will win the winning title in this tournament.

If both the teams win their next match, then NRR will come in to play (or even if both of them lose their next). But at this point, the advantage for Delhi Capitals in terms of NRR is quite significant. And the problem for Mumbai Indians is that their next match is against the resurgent Royal Challengers Bangalore Women (scheduled for 3:30pm today, to be played at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai). After losing 5 matches consecutively, RCBW has now won two successive matches. On the other hand, Mumbai lost both of their last two.

DC, MI and UPW have qualified for the playoffs stage while RCB and GG got knocked out. MI and DC have pretty much dominated the first season of the WPL which is why I am expecting a tense final between them.
Am not expecting any surprises from UPW and I still think that DC will win the first season primarily thanks to Lanning.
Gujarat Giants are knocked out of the tournament, and because of the tournament format this time Royal Challengers Bangalore women are also not in the contention anymore. The match between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will decide who will play in the eliminator and who will directly qualify for the final. I would prefer Delhi Capitals winning the trophy this time, because they did their homework without much showoff. They have the momentum with them, and Mumbai has lost two of their last three matches.

I have seen several matches of Delhi Capitals. This team is very good. I did not find any weakness in the batting and bowling line-up. In the last match against Mumbai, I saw Delhi players batting well. Mumbai was given a target of just 110 runs. Delhi reached the target of victory in just 9 overs. All three batsmen in the top order scored more than 30 runs each. Delhi is the most likely to be champions. Unless an accident occurs.

One loss have made Mumbai Indians to loss the second match. As the league is getting close to the final days Mumbai Indians looks like losing its form. If this continues scenario could change as Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz would play the finals. In T20 format cricket anything could happen, even the last player could stand and win a match scoring big runs.

Today's performance is completely worse from Mumbai Indians and it looks like Delhi Capitals is having better stability in performance. Team that scored above 150+ runs easily losing with the score of just 109 runs is really bad performance and lost consistency.

This game was interesting one in the list now.The target of 160 runs will be the reasonable one,but they play like wicket is important one then a runs. But their run at 17th over is not the acceptable one.Kallis made his enough batting with the score of 50 runs is good game from the experienced player as compared to the younger players in their team.Taylor had made his enough game by his 32 runs was welcome run to the team and they should target of 170 runs.
After having very good performance in league matches WG lost the final against AL as they fail to perform as expectations in this final game Abdur Razzak was the hero for the AL as he bowls amazing spell 2 for 14 in 4 overs was surely deserving MOM award and just because of this WG no batsman were able to score any good runs just legendary Kallis was on crease with his mark of 78 of 54 balls which is amazing stuff but at the end WG have only 147 which was not good and opening pair from AL score more than 100 runs which helps them for having big win in this final match of this series but at the end good entertainment for the cricket lovers in Qatar which is also now going to be good hub of sports after having best organized soccer world cup few months back.

The decision between MI and DC is a bit of a toss up for me personally. Honestly, I think they are both really good performers. Both of them also have the potential to win. However, when it comes to raw performance, my opinion is that DC is the better team in my opinion. My expectation for the final of the women's IPL is not actually that there will be a little bit of drama in it. Ultimately, it's all about TRP, the number of viewers and the popularity of the show. No, I am not saying that it is going to be fixed in the near future. However, we can expect some drama in a final as well.

Who is watching the Legends league final today between World Giants and Asia Lions ? Giants did not start the innings well and they are now struggling at 114 runs in the 17th over. The top oder batsmen failed today but Jacques Kallis scored 50 runs and is still at the wicket giving some sort of reasonable target. He was helped by Ross Taylor who scored 32 runs before he was bowled by Perera.

The good thing about the match is that you can watch it live on youtube. It's rare that you see a match being broadcast live on youtube.

Just think of IPL, at the first season. It takes time and it is a wrong calculation to compare men's IPL with WPL in terms of revenue. Even before the start of WPL there is not much interested on it. Now the audience and viewership have increased than calculated. When the franchise number increases automatically it'll gain even more popularity. Maybe WPL isn't that profitable as IPL, but it is sure to generate profit, no doubt in it.
Men's and women's league will never be equal. It doesn't matter how big an investment or promotion, it will never get the equal position. But its good and bad things can be judged comparatively. The Womens Premier League has just started. If it will not be 100% successful this year but there will be more improvement in the next seasons. If a few sessions can be completed regularly then a big revenue can be earned from this tournament. At that point we can make a comparison of the women's league with the men's.

I agree with @Vaskiy that comparing women's sports with men's sports is not fair. But at the same time, we all have to remember that this is not a charity. Unless they bring in good revenue for the investors and sponsors, they are not going to be interested in investing. Of course, it is going to need time. But is the BCCI going to give women IPL the time it needs? Considering the fact that they did not want the women's IPL in the first place. I don't know their situation now but that was the case for a long time.

It was truly said by @BobK71. Comparing men's sports with women's sports is like comparing world-class cars with Nissan. You are going to get your money's worth with a Lamborghini. People will also show a lot of interest in a Lamborghini. With a Nissan, you might get reliability, but you will certainly not get the popularity.

Look like Dilshan and Tharanga are too good for the World Giants and they single handly will take them home. The Asian team seems far better in this match. However, I haven't seen any of the previous performances so can't comment much.
I could not watch this match because no channel in my country was broadcasting it live but thanks to you for sharing this live broadcast link.
Do you or anyone else know if there is any cricket channel that shows all the live matches on youtube? It will really help. Smiley

World giants did not post a good enough total in my opinion. They gave a target of 148. First of all, they had a lot of wickets in hand. So they are a little short of where they should have finished. At least 160 were needed.

Now they are not being able to defend this properly. The Asia Lions are not waiting around to get to the total. They are really in a hurry. They have already scored 115 in 9 overs. They are scoring at a rate of almost 12 runs per over. They now need only 4.58 runs per over. With 9 wickets in hand, it is going to be really easy to achieve.

I believe no one in the BCCI setup or franchises for that matter expects the same success as Men's IPL.

The poor state of the Women's NBA is a fair argument but I'd say WPL won't follow WNBA's route. Only because the recent media rights deal of WPL suggests that it won't become a subsidiary of Men's IPL and can sustain itself

My argument is that even if women's IPL is somewhat popular, it is never going to be as popular as men's IPL. It is never even going to be a very good business, to be honest. The best thing that might come out of this is the players that will represent Indian women's cricket. The profit is never going to be enough for most of the big businessmen. Of course, it is going to be enough for the broke people who always try to play it safe. But I think it is too early to say. Probably they will make enough profit eventually.
I got that and already answered and it wasn't out of thin air. BCCI on record mentioned this, they are not delusional and not chasing Men's IPL success with the WPL, they only want self sustainable model for WPL. Also all parties BCCI and franchises are willing to take even some hit for a couple of years, which is normal in any new business setup.

I feel the legends should rest rather play again  Cheesy. I have been seeing a lot of social media promotion going around this tournament. Let me tell you there are too many good cricket matches happening around the world that are being played by the current generation. It is far better to watch those games than watch the veterans. Some of us might like to watch them play again but I am least interested otherwise those games would have been discussed here.

It is too early to decide the fate of WPL. The first season is still going on and after its conclusion, we will come to know how well did it perform. I doubt that WPL won't be generating any revenue for BCCI as it has already done that when the media rights were sold. Now the main question lies in the revenue of the franchise. Most of them are in this business for quite some time now and they know how to make it a profitable venture. We need to wait for the viewership data that will be released after the conclusion of this season. That will give us an insight on the success of WPL.

Every new thing is going to be interesting for people. We all know about a lot of controversies that happened in the men's IPL. That was a big reason for the men's IPL to become popular. I am not saying every club should look for controversy in trying to make the women's IPL interesting. But I simply think that the fact that there is no controversy is an indication that a lot of people are not interested in women's sports. But if any league, the women's T20 league in cricket does have the potential to get popular, I think it is the women's IPL.

Personally, I do not think women's IPL is going to do as well as men's IPL. Doesn't matter how hard or for how long they try. I am saying that because we can easily take the example of women's NBA.

A country where the feminist revolution is at its peak and women can get a lot of rights that even men don't have. For a long period of time, women's NBA is not generating money. They have to take money from men's NBA and health women's NBA continue. I am not saying that women's IPL is impossible to generate profit. I am saying it is going to be a thousand times harder compared to men's IPL.
