Pakistani Umpire Asad Rauf, the former ICC elite umpire who officiated in 170 international matches across 13 years, passed away due to cardiac arrest in Lahore today. He was 66. May his soul Rest In Peace.

A few months back I had read that he had become a shop owner in Lahore and had completely left cricket.

I have seen Asad Rauf umpiring in many matches and he was an asset, not only for Pakistan but globally recognized, however, there were corruption charges on him and he was also involved in the 2013 IPL spot fixing. He was banned from umping and these days running up a clothes shop in his native city before he died at the age of 66. What made me sad is that life is so unpredictable, and we never know when our last day in this world will be.
I was watching a documentary in which he said - that all the allegations on him by the indian players are wrong.
I felt very sad on seeing how he has spent last days of his life selling garments  - because his son had schizophrenia
Rest in peace Asad Rauf!

India already has a very bad start in this match and they are 16 for two wickets down.

Both Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana are gone cheaply making India women's team in deep trouble in this decisive T20 match. I think today's is an England day and they will win this match.
This match is going to be an easy win for England. India have 79 runs in 17 overs losing 7 wickets. Ghosh and Vastrakar on the crease. Somehow England will wrap India within 100 runs. This is an easy target for England. From the very beginning England have taken control of the match.
In T20 format it is lower score but in women's cricket there are big fights even in low score. England won the toss and decided to field. On the other the match is being played at England's venue, they will be ahead in this perspective. England's chances of winning are very high. Already 20 overs done and finally INDW collect 122.

The last and the decider match of this T20 series will be played today. Both team have shown that they can defeat each other in the previous matches. I cannot pick a favourite team in this series as both have their pros & cons. What I am interested is to again watch Smriti Mandana and Freya Kemp repeat their previous performance. The English side will still have the home ground benefit and the Indian side will have the spectators benefit.
I will support India in this game. India has good players.  India's batting and bowling are very strong I think. But in this match I think it will be a good game between the two teams.  I think England don't have that many good players. If England can put all the players under pressure from the beginning then it will be good for England.

Well, England has won the toss and they will field first. Another interesting thing is that last two matches are won by the team chasing, maybe this is the reason Amy Jones decided to field.

Bristol will decide who will be the winner of this interesting T20 Series. I will say, England has the advantage of the toss just like teams had an advantage in Dubai during the Asia Cup matches.

India already has a very bad start in this match and they are 16 for two wickets down.

Yes and a great start from England's. I think today India will not able to crosss  100 as already they lost their 7wicket and  only more 4 over is available. Again I think England will win today's game.  If they can tackle indian bowlers then I think It will be one of the easiest win for them .
The game didn't turn out the way it was supposed to or the way it was expected to turn out.  Indian batsmen could not maintain their performance like in the second match.  Now let's see if I get a little freedom then I think I won't say anything more about these things. Even then I will not underestimate India's team because until now if they keep holding their performance like 2nd match but I think today they can also be winner.
I am also not underestimate Indian team but I am talking about their performance today, their batting performance was very poor today, but with a bit better performance towards the last they managed to get above 100. Now let's see their bowling performance India is a weaker team than England team but I also think they can still beat England as it reflected in the last match.  Now if only they can keep their bowling line up then I think they have a chance to win as well

I don't want to put any team ahead in this match. Both teams are almost equally strong. India set a target of just 133 runs in the first match. And Matgro scored 134 runs in 13 overs and England won. England set a target of just 143 runs in the second match. India won easily. So my guess is whoever wins the toss and decides to field will win today's match.

A few months back I had read that he had become a shop owner in Lahore and had completely left cricket.

It is inevitable that everyone will leave this world one day. A cardiac arrest has taken the life of former ICC elite umpire Asad Rauf at the age of 66. I observed him supervising many international matches as an ICC panel umpire. I am saddened by the news. I offer my deepest condolences to the family members of the deceased. I pray that the departed soul rests in peace.

His struggle for livelihood has been documented in a video I watched recently; he used to run a very small shop in Lahore, the local market.

Assalamu Alekum
So, if you are trying to say that Pakistan has played 15 times in the Asia Cup and only has two Asia cup wins and you are trying to implement that they should have won more than that I am not going to agree.
Your logic makes zero sense. Pakistan is a top tier team which is why they should have won more than 2 times, but they didn't which implies that they need to improve that figure in the future.

You would think my logic makes zero sense because the argument in the previous post about Pakistan winning only 2 Asia Cup titles even though they participated 14 times was just rubbish.

Yes, they needed to improve but the competition in Asia Cup is one of the best. And it absolutely does not make sense to say that they have participated in Asia Cup and that's why they need to win. Bangladesh has also participated in the World Cup 6 times. And the number is going to be increased to 7 in a few months. That doesn't mean they are going to win the next World Cup.

Thank you

Duke

This is really sad news for the whole cricketing world as Asad Rauf was a well-renowned umpire and he was an umpire for a very long time.
I don't know why he left Cricket as you said but whatever it is I really hope his family is doing fine in these challenging times.
His void will never be filled by anyone as he was a legend in the umpiring world.

The Afghanistan teams lack it the most and it was evident in their defeat against Pakistan.
Both Afghanistan and Pakistan fans were at fault and they will suffer the consequences which they totally deserve.
I beg to disagree here. Actually Pakistani fans instigated it, they started mocking and taunting Afghanistan fans. Which led to  Afghanistan fans eventually rioting and beaingt up of Pakistani fans mercilessly. I personally do not support such kind of behaviour but when you think yourself as superior in this case Pakistan then such incidents would occur. The worst part is that now Pakistani citizen think Afghanistan hates them more than India Grin.

This is the biggest problem with such individuals as they cannot see a country that got independence at the same time and is one of the top 5 countries according to economic development and being a leader in cricket as a sport.
Makes sense. Different people have different opinions after all which is why these controversial debates are actually interesting sometimes.

However, some of my beliefs do have reality if anyone thinks realistic while some of my beliefs can be wrong too, as I am a human too.
Problem here is that you keep mixing sports with politics. Cricket is a gentleman's game which is why pointless politics should be avoided.

Do you guys watch Caribbean Premier League matches? Last night there was a match Between Trinbago Knight Riders and Guyana Amazon Warriors. Trinbago Knight Riders won by 26 runs. Only ten players could touch a double-figure score from the two innings. Pooran, Pollard and Narine were on fire. At the same time, Akeal Hosein and Andre Russell take three wickets each. Guyana's run rate was reasonable, but they lost all the wickets. They had two overs more to chase the runs.

Both the teams have played the best. The first match was won by England in a much comfortable way. India faced little difficulty to win the second match as there is fall of wickets. However the pillars of India women team saved the match for India. Now the decider match gonna be very interesting. I support India to win the match and make history. Following this we've got the ODI series and the ongoing performance have increased the expectation over ODI series.

England is a more balanced and experienced side. That is the reason why as per the betting odds they have better chances. India on the other hand is mostly dependent on individual performances. But a win will be earth shattering for the Indian time. Interest in women's game is increasing steeply and this time a lot of people in India are following these matches. A win will be very beneficial for the players. Anyway, they have performed well till now and doesn't have anything to lose. On the other hand, England will be under pressure.
Yes, India women's cricket team is much on individual performance. For now the chances of win is high with England. If something happens as the second match, it'll be a big thing for India women's team to get boosted and grab the attention of the Indian cricket fans who are not much into Women Cricket.
