I was wondering the same that no discussions were taking place.

CSK had a slow start today with 5 wickets down and felt they wouldn't reach 100 but Dhoni and Jadeja's 50+ partnership helped them get a decent score. Jadeja's last 6 was the best finish. Felt they were 10-15 runs short as in between they had dot balls. KKR are off to a damn good start with only 1 wicket down. With Jadeja being their new captain, I still see Dhoni being in charge.
For me, they are short of nearly 30 to 35 runs even it's first match but still they are all professional cricketers, and they can give their best even on their very first match of this season, but we can be applause KKR bowling as well they were on target from start and never allowed any batsman to play freely it's amazing job from them.

Right now end of 14 overs and KKR are on 98/3 with some good and stick bowling from veteran Bravo who took both wickets for CSK even they are completely out of match but still giving his best now Rahane and Sheryas Iyer on crease for their first win of this season with bang.

Edit: Santner just removed Rahane on 44 runs.

Tough luck for CSK today. They tried to slow them down but KKR batsmen are just getting those 4s and 6s. I was still hoping for some miracle but they couldn't get those wickets early on and when they got, it was too late. Just need 11 more runs with 3 overs left.

Chennai Super Kingsvs Kolkata Knight Riders

In the first match of IPL, Chennai has faced Kolkata. And batting first, Chennai gave a target of only 132 runs. I expected a score of at least 140 from Chennai. I don't think this run is enough to win. The Kolkata squad is strong enough. The Kolkata squad has T20 specialist batsmen like Rahane, Iyer, Russel and Sunil Narine. I think  Kolkata will easily today win by batting for 132 runs.
KKR can easily win this if they don't lose wickets but now CSK took the 3rd wicket and they don't have a player like Dhoni to handle such pressure. If they calmly play without taking risks, it's 1 run per ball which looks easy.

You are right. Kolkata batsmen do not need to take any risk at this moment. There are matches. Kolkata needs only 20 runs from 25 balls to win. And they have lost 3 wickets. The target of 132 runs is very small. It was necessary to provide a target of at least 150/160 runs on such a pitch. Iyer and Billings are batting now. Both are experienced batsmen.

After seeing some interest among the people here also on bitcointalk on women cricket world cup , i hope that women IPL can be a success too but its too early to say.

Coming to the Men's IPL, the first match seems to be one-sided and could be an easy win for Kolkata Knight Riders. They have to chase the target of only 132 runs and the focus should be to chase them within 15 overs to have a win with a very good run rate.
Surely a big and positive decision from BCCI about this because this was excising for some long time, but there was no good response from Board management, but now they change their mind and having some positive news about women cricketers specially after news from PCB is doing work on this for WPSL 2023 they are also doing very quickly which is good they are having some healthy competition.

About revenue and marketing surely this could be the most crucial part of this WIPL because around the world mostly women's spots have no good enough response and developed countries staying with some advantage and Third World countries face trauma so hopefully BCCI will give good support even they will have some issues in few early years.

Two new captains and first match is not going good for CSK as they have falter in batting with just 131 on board for their batting thanks to Dhoni who fires in last few overs and give this total no other batsman done any solid contribution but for KKR Umesh Yadav and Sunil Narain both were on target and never allowed anyone to attack now in reply they have good start even lost their captain very early but still on target for their first win of this season Shivam Dube's first over is turning point as it costs 15 runs which is not good for CSK.

Women's IPL

One positive news for Women's cricket. Women's IPL looks reality now and might start in next 1-2 years, probably 2023. Right now its 3 teams affair (Women's T20 Challenge). Fresh proposal suggests 6 teams format, existing IPL franchise owners' will get preference to own the team. BCCI also added that that it doesn't matter if Women's IPL generate revenue or not (Pressure building up to start Women's IPL).

That's indeed a big development that BCCI is finally going to launch women IPL. Seeing the current women WC, it's evident that there is lots of potential in West Indies, South Africa, and India. Pakistan will definitely not part of this league so for them it doesn't matter. BCCI has to invest something from its own pocket before revenue start to come.

I was really excited when the ICC included Netherlands in the ODI super league. But even after 3 years, they have played only two or three matches against the full members, as the test nations continue to ignore the scheduling requirements. And now the ICC has also backtracked and they have removed the ODI super league as well. This is going to be very demoralizing for the smaller teams like Netherlands. Already the number of teams with native players are going down, and cricket can't afford to lose countries such as the Netherlands.

I remember Netherlands were part of world cup 1996 but still they couldn't get test status. Cricket badly needs more countries as there are only handful regular test playing countries. Cricket need to be spread out to EU, America,  Afrcia and South East Asia. Right now Cricket is among top sports only coz its popular in heavily populated countries of India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

It is really sad news because it would have been great to see the Netherlands in action again. I haven't seen the Netherlands play in a long time, to be honest. and you know, they would have also gained a lot of important experience against a team like Newzealand.

IPL 2022 is already here. Am happy with the addition of 2 new teams which will improve the competition and player changes across all the teams make the tournament a lot more exciting and entertaining overall.

However, I am disappointed to see MSD resign as captain while Kohli resigning makes sense. Wonder if CSK or MI will still end up winning despite all these huge changes.

Another big difference is the impact of COVID on IPL which has decreased drastically this time around thankfully and I hope it stays that way in the future. My random prediction is that DC will win the IPL for the first time ever.

Probably it's just me but I really fail to understand what is the problem here. it's not about double standards, it's about the players having more and more playing time. and if the players get those playtimes in other countries like Australia, England, New Zealand, or countries like these, I think the players would have become better compared to just them playing in the Indian domestic league.
I have been feeling it's not double standard it's only their own power, and they are good no one challenge this in last one decade because right now they are superpower in cricket with their financial strength.

Even it setsback for many players as they can take some good experience from playing in other countries and also can bring some good foreign currency for their country but BCCI is not thinking in this way, and they are not allowing because they want their local players only enjoy in this IPL, and they have some good advantage just because of this as India is also having some good communities in other countries, so these peoples watch their own Country players only in this league which give them some more strong fan base and more financial advantage as we all know they love this game and their own players.

Have you seen the only Twenty20 international between New Zealand and the Netherlands at Napier? It was a non-event in Napier due to bad weather, which prevented the toss from even taking place. What a disappointment for teams and fans alike. Tour of the Netherlands in New Zealand. It has been decided that the T20I between New Zealand and the Netherlands will be abandoned. It may not be the best choice to play cricket in New Zealand at the end of March.

Your suggestions have no logic because BCCI can't introduce double standards even many options and opportunities available, but they will not go with any complicated option as @Sithara007 already give some good details about this all it's not the best option for allowing their few players for foreign franchise league matches.

I am not good in Indian domestic system but still I check now they have few domestic leagues which are having some good number of teams and players those have good enough income growing very quickly because few years back I check Tamil Nado League and Karnataka League hopefully someone will correct this all if I am wrong, but these options are much better for them instead of going for foreign leagues.

It's good to see Netherlands touring test playing countries like South Africa, West Indies and England. May be we can  have one more test playing team in the form of Netherlands. The only T20 is abandoned but we have still 3 more ODIs to be played. Let's hope they went as scheduled.

With India being a highly populated country I don't think there is going to be a shortage of talent anywhere or at any given time. so, I think it wouldn't hurt much for the Indian cricket board to give the less known players a chance to perform in foreign leagues.

in there, their good show great performance and also catch the eye of the Indian cricket board. by doing that I think selection would be a lot easier. and a lot more players will be recognized and coming forward. but I obviously don't expect that to be done by the BCCI
