It wouldn’t make a lot of sense should we have the tags (@,#) work on the forum the same way as we have it on social media. If one gets to use the @function, it often tends to generate all the available usernames that are linked with the user, either as a direct contact or on the friend list.
If mentions work here, it does not need to generate/guess the username upon the user typing, it consumes resources on the server and its not necessary to a forum, especially for an old software forum like bitcointalk. Idk if other forums have that features to aside from socmeds, while tags works on other forum or i say new forum softwares.

The truth of the fact is that though the use of tags doesn't work on the forum, the same way like social media, it still doesn't mean as a user on this forum you can't be notified if you want to and activate it through Gmail or Telegram Supernotifier, which is very common among forum users.

The forum isn’t where you’ve got that (contact or some sort of friend list). So you can imagine the number of usernames that would be generated before you get down to typing out one or having to select. Selection would clearly be out of the picture but it’s of course, unnecessary as it is.
The notifications could be activated using the third party setup available if it matters that much.

But one thing I noticed from my few years of been on this forum is that with the use of "keywords" when drafting the title of a thread is always very important for S.E.O optimization and easy access for users both in and outside the bitcointalk community.

However, the Telegram Supernotifier can be used for multiple purposes, as it can be used to track a User, a post, a board on the forum, a topic or get notified if you are been given merit or mentioned on the forum.

in fact the use of hashtags would be convenient, but only for research purposes
if i want to search for, i don't know, wallet reviews i could search for
#wallet #reviews
as is done in modern social networks, whether it can be done or not, i can't say this, it doesn't depend on me
I agree with the others in the request in the end
Forum is not a social media like Facebook, X/ Twitter, Instagram ... If you want tag, hash tag, you can join those social media platforms. No offense but it's true to say the forum admins don't intend to build up or change this forum to a social media platform.

Tag, hash tag are more like advertisement trick but Bitcoin forum doesn't need it.

You can use Telegram notification bot and receive notifications with some customize settings.

I have used a Telegram notifier bot but I have missed some important notifications from campaign managers before because it doesn’t work all of the time.

The Telegram super notifier Bot answers almost immediately, if you are experiencing any delays in receiving notifications, try update your Telegram App.

Check your settings in your Profile for Notifications and Email, I would assume you should get email notification if you're mentioned like @Floxynice

This notification by email is not that effective compared to the super notifier bot, you would have to visit the last page of the Topics you subscribed to, before you can get new mails. Very exhausting. It's only when you subscribe to new topics that you will get notified all the time.

I seldom put the @ in front of a username, but it has more of a signalling feature meaning: "Hey, I am talking to you!" rather than expecting an actual notification popping on the taggeg user desktop.

Most definitely. I may understand the reason why people haven’t been in so much that is going on in the sh*tty p*ssy social media would come on here expecting the same and are met with a whole different rudimentary to what is acceptable or obtainable are always surprised with how things are here but, it is a forum. It’s got more complex nature than what we have out there on the social media and there have got to be lots of differences.

When you do the signaler and you can only expect that the user have got the BTTSupernotifier bot active to get notified and even yourself @OP, should it mean a thing to you. Other than that, you could always refer back to your earlier comments for mentions and follow ups

I understand that this forum is not like social media. But on facebook, X and other social medias, someone could be mentioned by @tag or #tag. But I have tried to use @tag but it seems that those people doesn't instantly get notified. Myself, I have not been notified before. I can assume that no one mentioned me yet because I'm not popular.
Which tag works fine for the forum to notify people because the forum is too large, it is difficult to track conversations.

Try get you forum account connected with telegram so that you can always get notifications at where you are mentioned from the forum that is all.
You don't need to be popular before you can be mentioned. You are to be mentioned based on other users based on your posts which I believe every users posts are negatively or positively attracted by other users which could prompt to mentioning them on their thread or comment sections.
Be noted that only telegram would give you that notification signal.

It would be nice to have the feature natively built in on Bitcointalk.
As nice as that would be, Cricktor has a point:
But I have tried to use @tag but it seems that those people doesn't instantly get notified.
Why do you demand tagged users be instantly notified and how do you know they aren't?
The day this feature is built into Bitcointalk will be the day people ask for an ignore list. I don't want to give random people access to me all the time.

I have tried to use @tag but it seems that those people doesn't instantly get notified.

It's the other user's choice if and how they want to be notified of what particular actions. And it's also other user's choice to react if and when they want. You have no right to demand a quasi instant reaction whatsoever.
This is indirectly defining privacy. This post answers my question to why the @tag doesn't work here in the forum. "It is the other users choice if and how they want to be notified". Unlike on social media where you will be compulsorily notified. Thanks.

I understand that this forum is not like social media. But on facebook, X and other social medias, someone could be mentioned by @tag or #tag.
And yet you compare it to large (a)social media platforms. Just why? I'm very happy that Bitcointalk isn't like the other large shit-melting pots.

But I have tried to use @tag but it seems that those people doesn't instantly get notified.

I rarely tag someone with @ and only if I have a very good reason to potentially have them notified of my tag. If they are, fine, and that's the most I can have. If the other user wants to react, respond or remain silent, it's not my choice to make.

And for the why Bitcointalk doesn't have full fledged built-in notifications: it's likely about potential abuse, ressource load for such a large user base and forum.

Relax a bit and improve on your patience.

I don't use any additional notification tools with this forum. The available tools are enough for me. I can easily track new posts in threads I've interacted with via the Show new replies to your posts link. I don't need my mobile to overwhelm me with a flood of notifications any more than what I get already.

It would be nice to have the feature natively built in on Bitcointalk. There are other forums using SMF software that have had this feature for a long time so it should be possible for devs to implement it if enough people request it.

I don't think it's an issue with the bot. Maybe it could be your internet connection. Bad connection sometimes causes delays with the notifications. As far as I can remember, I have never missed a notification from any tracked topic or managers or mention, not even once. The only delay I have encountered was when I had a shit wifi connection due to bad weather or when the forum or the bot was down, for some reason.

Btw, if you want you can use a feature that the forum provides which is notify by email. And it's basically the same as the bot, you get instant notification via mail .

Bot isn't the only one using it most of the forum members are using it. I've never seen anyone complain about it. I've also been using it and I can't see problem with it as it works very well. What you are saying i would also say something like that maybe he is doing something wrong somewhere or his device is having problem or his network connection is having problem otherwise there shouldn't be any such problem. We have been using it for a long time but here I haven't seen any problem or any post where anyone has complained about it.

About that I would say you should check if it's ok on your device and network. It would be possible for Devs to implement this but since this is not a problem I don't see the need to implement anything else. i know you understand it, Thank you.

I guess your device failed to notify at the moment, most times I face same issue the problem might be network and if you observe carefully you’ll get the notification after resolving the issue either bad network because that’s only the problem resulting to slow notification from Telegram notifier, don’t know if you’re the only one complaining about this problem but if same complaint is much they might figure out what’s wrong.

It's quite easy just mention the persons name whether direct or via quotes and this would work if they using the supernotifier by TryNinja.

it's not worth it, not to mention we already have a telegram notifying Bot and it's quite on rare occasions it has failed in dropping notifications
And if it occurs it is quickly worked upon.

Except maybe you didn't properly set who and what you need to be notified about.

P.S it is possible to be notified about new threads in board or replies via email

This need to tag have been sorted out by the support of telegram notifications bots, it's most likely one of the fastest way to notify a person that he has been mentioned, all that you need to do is to write the Forum user name of such a person and he she gets notified via telegram instantly.

This doesn't work with the tag that we have on other social media and in fact it possible that if you add @ inclusive of the members user name, it may not get the user notify since addictions of @ becomes a variation to the real user's name and the telegram bot may not pick the parameter with such addictions.

SuperNotifier? Please post in the OP when you notice any downtime, so far I don't think there has been a lot: https://status.ninjastic.space

99.41% uptime, where most downtime is actually the forum being down. Cheesy

Sounds good enough to me.

Did you use the same notifier we’re talking about here? So far, I haven’t had any issues - just add the names of the campaign managers you want to follow, and the system will notify you whenever they post something new. Or you can just add the Services board. Anyway, if there’s a feature like this directly on the forum, that’d be even better since it would be more stable for sure.
