Congratulations to Jan-Lennard Struff. 15 years as a professional tennis player and now he has finally won a tournament for the first time. Struff coped better with the weather at this tournament than many of his opponents. It remains to be seen whether this was an one-off event or whether the knot has now burst.

Brilliant win by Struff. Its interesting to see these older players still able to win.  It just
goes to prove many aspects of the tennis.

I find it remarkable that someone can maintain the motivation for so long. And that he keeps financially getting supported.

I havent thought about something like that until this prompted me to check
out his status and he has only been in 3 finals and only 1 title, prize money $500k.

It is amazing but I think there was a discussion a few years ago about the topic
of how all players are financially able to be on tour when there are only so few able
to reach the finals and take massive prize money.

The vast majority of players must be struggling to remain on tour financially.

Struff finally won his first ATP title at the age of 33, of course this was very impressive because he did it in front of his public.

He definitely has a chance but we will have to wait and see how each player finishes at
the Madrid tournament to see how close it will be for the Rome tournament. There is one thing
for sure though, Sinner wont be letting the possibility of becoming number 1 take over his emotions.

Qualifying in both the mens and womens is underway at Madrid.

Yesterdays final over at Barcelona did end up being  Tsitsipas v Ruud with the Greek
unable beat Ruud this time out, it was over in 2 sets so that price of 2.35 on Ruud after
he was broken in the first set was massive

This is the ranking before the start of the next tournament in Madrid.
Nothing should change in the top three positions.
Sinner's first chance to become number one for the first time is in the Rome tournament.

So, two finals today I'd advise you to focus on:

Ruud v Tsitsipas in Barcelona

These guys have just recently met in another final (in Monte-Carlo) where the Greek won the title. Stefanos is on fire now and Ruud's lack of confidence will only amplify his performance.

This has already started and Tsitsipas has broken Ruud, Ruud's price now is 2.35, Might
be worth a bet on him. Ruud isnt going away.

Brilliant win by Struff. Its interesting to see these older players still able to win.  It just
goes to prove many aspects of the tennis.

Another result in - A tournament win by Fucsovics over Navonne at the Bucharest open,
another older player able to beat the younger players to win that tournament

I notice Raducanu made it to the quarter final, I believe now that ahe has been doing
well for the last few weeks, thats promising.
Her performance was quite promising against Swiatek but it wasn't enough to beat the number one player, maybe in Madrid she will be able to show something good, resting for a long time certainly requires adaptation to be able to return to its best performance

Munich - final is Struff v Fritz. Struff beat Rune in two sets, 6-2 and 6-0. Rune hasnt been
in top form lately. I'll bet he was favourite to beat Struff?
Struff finally won his first ATP title at the age of 33, of course this was very impressive because he did it in front of his public.

An impressive performance from Rybakina, winning her third title this year and she beat Kostyuk in two set, it only takes 1 hour 11 minutes for her to lift the trophy.

The girls will decide who is going to take a brand new Porsche home. Rybakina defeated Swiatek in her semi and will be super confident today against the junior Grand Slam champion Kostyuk. My bet will be on Elena.

UPDATE: And Rybakina wins the title in Stuttgart!  Cool

Its quarter final time in Barcelona and its looking more and more like a Ruud v Tsitsipas
final. Tsitsipas is looking really confident in Barcelona and plays Diaz Acosta today, Ruud plays
Arnaldi.

Not if Tsitsipas keeps going like that. I stopped counting now but I can tell that there have been so many breaks that I've lost count. Now another break in favor of Acosta and it is going to be a few tough final games in this match. Might be ending in a tie-break and my bet was on Tsitsipas. Maybe only Ruud will go to the final...

Quite surprising that Tsitsipas had such difficulties. Diaz Acosta did not make it easy for him. He even had the chance to reach the semi-final twice in the last set with match point. But in the end Tsitsipas probably had the better nerves. 10:8 in tiebreak. His next opponent will be Lajovic or Fils. Which are already playing and Lajovic leads 3:1.

You could think that, but as much as he is not predictable, it is still his favorite surface and he had no serious opponents in top shape. I think there is a point in choosing him as the potential finalist or even as a potential winner of the tournament. But anyway, at least Barcelona hets to see a pretty high profile final. Not the one they were hoping for for sure as Nadal was out early and Djokovic didn't even start, Alcaraz pulled back. I think we now get to see how the level of expectation for great finals has to drop in the future.

Home tennis player Alexander Zverev lost in straight sets to Chile's Cristian Garin, of course this is a disappointing result because he is the first seed in ATP Munich.

WTA Stuttgart, Iga Swiatek has the opportunity to win her third title in this tournament after making it to the semifinals and she will face Elena Rybakina, not so sure that Swiatek will face obstacles to get to the final because Rybakina, although impressive this year, had to lose two sets to get to the semifinals so her performance wasn't very good here and she said it was quite difficult because the ball was slow on this surface.
The surprising thing was Aryna Sabalenka who lost to Marketa Vondrousova, so far Sabalenka has not had good results apart from AO, and also Coco Gauff lost to Marta Kostyuk, if Swiatek makes it to the final it looks like she will face an easier opponent later.

This was a very unexpected result from the match of Zverev. And what was more surprising was that him being unable to even take one set. This type of performance was unexpected for him, especially in the quarterfinals of the competition. Garin should not be able to win against Fritz in the semifinals but we'll see what happens.

Swiatek vs Rybakina
This is definitely going to be very competitive. Yes I think in the end it is going to be a win for Swiatek but we have seen what her opponent is capable of. She is definitely capable of giving a good fight for the win. And I actually disagree, I do not think it is going to be a walk in the park for Swiatek

Sabalenka losing was a little surprising. But not so surprised that it was unbelievable or something. It could happen. I guess it was more unexpected than surprising. Everyone expected her to win. But the comeback from her opponent was actually really good.

Its one set each over at Stuttgart and on serve in the 3 rd set! While looking at the score
I notice Raducanu made it to the quarter final, I believe now that ahe has been doing
well for the last few weeks, thats promising.

Barcelona - Ruud through to the final already beating Etcheverry in 2 sets. Tsitsipas
v Lakovic has just started.

Munich - final is Struff v Fritz. Struff beat Rune in two sets, 6-2 and 6-0. Rune hasnt been
in top form lately. I'll bet he was favourite to beat Struff?

Just about!

TBH I havent bet on Tsitsipas in the last two tournaments, he is going good but I always
have the feeling when watching him play that he is going to be beaten. Fils v Lajovic is
on now so he will play either as mentioned above so I would expect a tougher day out
tomorrow for Tsitsi.

Ruud is through to the semi too, another player I wouldnt be too confident about really.
He will play Etcheverry.

I'll watch that later on. We here are big fans of Naomi, she has been a superstar and has
a "good head on her shoulders" as we say here so she
will do well in life regardless of
her Tennis career but yea the better she does in Tennis the better off she will do altogether.

Hey tennis fans (I'm still is, hasn't been active and posting here), but it's good to hear Nick interviewing Naomi Osaka,-  Good Trouble With Nick Kyrgios

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjMhYSlLQZ0

And it's good to hear Osaka being not a tennis player, talking about business and her life outside of tennis. Good interviewer as well for Nick, maybe he finally found his passion,  Grin.

She also talk about Kobe's influence and impact on her and the Williams sister too.

The odds on De Minaur are growing, I just took him to win @2.15. He was the bookie favorite yesterday.

Nadal looked really good against Cobolli, if he's healthy it will be a hard match for De Minaur.
Still, Nadal is just coming back to tennis and the odds on him losing are too good not to take.

Did anyone watch him play? Rublev said he's in great form but hard to tell from the results alone.

I saw him play the first set today, really closely fought, he looked unfit TBH, he was panting
alot already in the 3rd game while de Minaur looked fresh. The second set was a wash out,
I guess he was wrecked after the first set alone.

When I first saw him yesterday against Cobolli I commented that he looked "chunkier" than
before. In the end after my post above I did a small straight win on de Minaur, I
figured it was too soon to expect Nadal to win after being off for so long and de Minaur
actually playing well so far this season.

Yea Alex de Minaur will post a greater obstacle to Nadal progressing. Cobolli yesterday
made way too many unforced errors, at one point in the second set it was up to 40! I
guess thats what happens a lot when playing the likes of Nadal?

Rafa is slight favourite at 1.71 while de Minaur is 2.1. This is probably a perfect match to
play a handicap bet but which way I'm wondering?

Still in the mix too are Ruud, Humbert and Tsitsipas who plays Ofner so he should
be winning that.

Nadal made a fairly smooth comeback in the first ATP Barcelona match, it only took about an hour and a half to move on to the next round and will face Alex De Minaur, and Nadal is still the favorite in this match.
Can't predict how big his chances are of going all the way to the final, because even though this is his favorite surface but he hasn't played long enough even his certainty of playing in the tournament doesn't look convincing because he announced it just one day before his first match, maybe he will eventually withdraw again in this tournament after facing a tough match and against De Minaur is certainly not easy.

The competition in ATP Barcelona became less intense after the top five players did not play, so the winner will be quite difficult to predict, Tsitsipas and Ruud are the favorites at the moment but I'm not so sure that they will both go smoothly here.
