Well Djokovic looked fairly strong for someone who has  not played tennis for a number of weeks!
Easy enough win over a potentially tricky Safiulin 6-1 and 6-2.
You're right, there was almost no threat at all from Safiulin for Djokovic, and he made it to the next round fairly easily. Today Djokovic will face Musetti, the tennis player who beat him last year in this tournament, if I'm not mistaken, I don't know if this Italian tennis player will be able to beat Djokovic, and if Musetti manages to beat Djokovic then this year there will be three Italian players who have beaten him.

Daniil Medvedev was eliminated in this tournament to Khachanov and it was not surprising because clay is a surface he doesn't like.
Zverev lost the first set to Tsitsipas and in the second set his serve was broken by Tsitsipas, my prediction is that it will only take two sets for Tsitsipas to win.

Djokovic is struggling in this match. He was losing the first set but was able to turn it around and take the first set. I think after winning the first set Djokovic will easily beat Musseti in the second set but still anything can happen.
Medvedev is bad on clay and he himself told everyone that he hates playing on clay so this is such a big surprise that he was eliminated again on clay.

Sinner and Sonego played a doubles match today and lost in 2 close sets and a
close deciding tie break, we will probably see more of them before the olympics
perhaps as they look to potentially compete there as doubles?
They have played very well in doubles since last year's Davis Cup, it is surprising that Sinner is still playing doubles in this big tournament because I thought he would be concentrating fully on singles to avoid fatigue, but it could be that he is preparing in doubles for the Olympics because this time the Olympics will also be played on a clay surface.

Novak Djokovic will play today against Roman Safiulin, a player who can sometimes give tough resistance to top players, and serve is the most powerful weapon for him to get points, but still Djokovic's odds are very low and I'm not so sure he will do well in this tournament, maybe the semifinals will be the furthest step here and if Alcaraz is fit they can meet in the semifinals.

Now I know its easy to say this but there are only 3 players who can stop Djokovic based on his
performance today, Sinner, Zverev and maybe Medvedev, Alcaraz has pulled out as we all expected.

Today was a disappointing day for Berrettini after winning the Marrakech tournament at the weekend,
really disappointing that he has bowed out at the hands of Kecmanović, hopefully its only temporary
and that he can build again for the next tournament, I think we all want to see Mateo back at the
top of his game.

Alcaraz picking up an injury just before the Monte Carlo masters is all over the news outlets today. He hasn't withdrawn yet, if I'm not mistaken, but bad news for sure for every Carlitos fan.

Ouch thats painful, he missed last years Monte Carlo tournament from injury, lets
see how he performs tomorrow against Felix AA.

Is it a bit concerning that at his young age Alcaraz is picking up "serious" injuries
and for example Sinner doesnt seem to be?

It is his last chance but not sure if he is the favorite to win it. With all the young talents (Alcaraz, Sinner, …) it will be hard for him. Lets see how he can perform on his return to Monte Carlo; too bad Nadal will skip it due to his injuries.

In the past I was still confident when Nadal skipped a tournament but the Grand Slams came closer. He usually was very consequent in skipping smaller ones for the sake of playing the bigger ones. But this has changed in the last two or three years and he rigorously skips any tournament at any time if he doesn't feel well. Hence, it is not a good sign this time again that he still isn't back on the court.

He's already said that 2024 will be his last season. It would be sad to not see him play Roland Garros, or honestly, it would be just as sad if he does play the GS and then has to give up at some point because his body goes on strike. That's another concern I would have in the back of my head every round he'd play.

- He's determined to conquer clay courts 🏟️, as the Olympic tennis event will be at Roland-Garros.
- Djokovic's immediate goal is to shine 🌟 at the Monte Carlo Masters and return to his best form.

Its gonna be tough for him!

In contrast to this Nadal is not playing in Monte Carlo, thats a bit worrying, we
are closing on Roland Garros and the Olympics.

Interesting result today from Marrakech, Berrettini won the final today beating Carballes Baena
in 2 sets. It looks like the Italian has found some form at the start of the clay court season.

And in the final today at Estoril Hurkacz beat Martinez on two sets. My bet on Ruud to
win the title was rekd yesterday when he failed to beat Martinez over 3 sets.

Semi finals are set for Charleston and Collins has made her way to play Sakkari the number
3 seed. She is favourite to win 1.88 v 2.15, this one could very well be a three setter.

The other semi final us Pegula v Kasatkina.

Over at Estoril Ruud has made his way to the Semi Finals predictably enough and
plays Martinez next, I'm not overly familiar with Martinez, he must be a clay court specialist.
Ruud should win this and is big favourite at 1.18.

The other semi is Garin v Hurkacz, the odds suggest this could be close 2.50 v 1.53

Imo, Pegula should have continued working with David Witt. She just wouldn't want to wait until her results improve. Maria Sakkari, on the other hand, improved greatly after she started working with Witt.

Collins is on fire, she won a title in Miami and is hungry for more.
You are right that Maria Sakkari experienced improvement after being with David Witt, making it to the final of Indian Wells and the quarter-finals of the Miami Open, which is certainly a good thing with her decision to change coaches.

Charleston Open, Danielle Collins is still on her winning streak, even though she had to play two matches in one day because it was postponed the previous day and her performance is still quite good, especially when she managed to beat defending champion Ons Jabeur and in the quarterfinals she will face Elise Mertens, my prediction is that she will still advance and it looks like he will still win in two sets and also have the opportunity to become champion here
and the other three quarterfinals Kasatkiva vs Cristian, Pegula vs Azarenka and Kudemertova vs Sakkari will be tighter with the possibility of three sets.

Estoril

I've been shouting for Thiem in this tournament, hoping he could go further but he failed
to beat a tricky opponent Gasguet who himself is trying to get back to past performances.

Another disappointing exit for Monfils in the round of 16 at the hands of Fucsovics who
seems to be finding form lately.

The two top seeds are through to the quarter finals, Ruud and Hurkacz. I have a bet on Ruud
to win this title @ 2.05. His biggest challenge is Hurkacz obviously but he is a clay specialist.

How are you all watching your Tennis?

We subscribe to TennisTV.com for the short to medium term because its the only way at
the moment we can watch live Tennis, unfortunately they only show the ATP matches.

We can watch highlights of the WTA on youtube but thats the only way we get the WTA.

Jessica Pegula hasn't been very good this year, at least that's what made her change coaches and improve a little after the change even though she hasn't managed to win the title this year.
Amanda Anisimova cannot be underestimated after her return because she made it to the fourth round of the Australian Open and lost to Sabalenka, so it was quite difficult for Pegula to face her country's tennis player, but in the third set during the tie break Pegula was better prepared and won quite easily because Anisimova made many mistakes which gave Pegula points.
So far several American tennis players have managed to advance to the next round except for Madison Keys who lost to Jaqueline Cristian in a three-set match, and today the match that I am quite looking forward to is Ons Jabeur vs Danielle Collins, Jabeur also hasn't produced anything good this year she always gets knocked out in the early rounds of the tournament and as the defending champion she will face tough resistance from Collins who has not been beaten since the Miami Open, my prediction is that this will be a three-set match if Jabeur plays well but if there is no change in her performance Collins is the favorite to win in two sets.

Apart from the matches you mentioned, Wozniacki v Kalinina and Gracheva v Mertens are absolutely worth watching and perhaps even placing a small bet.

From what we have seen Wozniacki is actually playing very well for someone just
back to the tour. This match against Kalinina is a replay of their meeting in Miami which
was a close enough 3 set affair. Wozniacki is favourite!

You were absolutely right about not underestimating Anisimova. She was able to win the first set pretty convincingly. After that, it was a good comeback from Pegula. But she had to really fight hard for the win. Especially the last set was very hard. I thought it could have gone either way. And I did not expect this much push back from Anisimova.

Anyway, Pegula is going to face Linette in the next match of the round of 16. I think she should be able to win that match as well. But yes at the same time, there is no option for her to underestimate the next opponent as well.

Regards

Duke

You must respect Dimitrov. Taking down Alcaraz? Believe me, Alcaraz normally handles single-handers well, so big win. Really surprised me. However, Dimitrov may have found another Federer moment. These semifinals? Will be huge. Dimitrov-Zverev, Medvedev-Sinner, great matches. I hope Dimitrov continues. Can he deliver another world-class performance? People will learn.

That Collins-Rybakina WTA match is serious. Rybakina seems safe, but Collins is risking it. Hearing she's going on maternity leave soon, playing at home? She'll try her hardest. Rybakina's fighting, but this will be close. Collins has heart, right? Could be upsetting.

This sure looks like an AI generated post.
It sure does. Will cross check through some tools that give a fair estimate about the likeliness of it being AI generated. Coming back to tennis. Jessie Pegula takes down Amanda Anisimova in a tight 3 set contest that went into the tiebreaker. Pegula is top seed at Charleston but isn't playing too well at the moment. She can easily pick things up though. She was semi finalist last year and is comfortable on Clay, she could be in for another deep run. Shelby Rogers is Charleston native. She has performed really well in this tourney in the past as well. Keep that in mind, if there's a close contest against her. Might take her over the edge being the local girl as well as crowd favorite.

Grigor Dimitrov beats Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets while also breaking him 4 times in 2 sets. Alcaraz holds one of the best ever win record against Single hand backhand players but that didn't deter Dimitrov from going all out, guns blazing and completely outclassing Alcaraz. Alcaraz, is probably tired of playing and winning so many matches in a row as he had also won the Indian Wells tournament but misses out on the Miami Open.

Well it certainly reads as garbage, punctuation is all over the place and its written in both past and future tense.

We are currently watching the Clay season at Estoril in Portugal. Thiem played Marterer yesterday and won in
three sets, It was a interesting match, good tennis from both single handed backhanded players he plays Gasquet next.

In a statement he mentioned that for him this is the deciding year, if he can get back up close to where he was
a few years ago when he won the US open he will continue and if he cannot regain that level op performance
he will call it a day and retire. That would be a sad day.
