Anybody watching Federer right now? Looks like he is in big problems against Sandgren. Does he have some injury problems maybe? I don't remember ever seeing him losing 4 service games in 2 sets.

Not really sure if he is nursing some injuries but based on his post game interview, he said somewhat in the line that he feels better as the match goes on. So perhaps just a bad start on his end, and what makes it great is that he was able to survived and incredibly saves 7 match point to win a grueling match,  6-3, 2-6, 2-6, 7-6(Cool, 6-3.

Highlights of the game: (https://ausopen.com/match/2020-tennys-sandgren-vs-roger-federer-ms503?wggwr=null#!media?g=video-151001)

Now him and Novak Djokovic will face each other again in the semis, Djokovic beat a resurging Raonic in 3 sets.
For me look like he is going to win again this prestigiuse tournament again he is in good form no other player is able to stop him from taking this trophy Federer last match really good but now age factor is also against Federer as he is one of oldest in top ranked players.

Roger Federer has back again throughout a crucial win and qualified to play quarter-final against Tennys, Roger is playing like a 24 years age and hopes to see another grand slam in his age, though Roger was the favorite of this match but he has lost the first set and people started to think a opposite result but at the end, Roger managed to win a very confident way. on the other hand, Nadal has also reached to the quarter-final and he will face Thiem, tennis followers are eagerly waiting for a match against Roger and Djokovic in the semi-final and I think Nadal and Roger will qualify both for  the final match.

I thought that Kyrgios played well to push Nadal all the way even though he lost the match, he did put up a fight and didn't make it easy for Nadal. From watching Kyrgios this tournament, I thought that he has played some of his best tennis and I just hope that he can continue on with it this year and maybe even challenge for a grand slam title. Its looking like it will be another veteran wining the AO once again.

I am beginning to take a liking to Milos Raonic's tennis play in this years Australian Open for some reason. Undecided
He hasnt been broken for any of his sets played so for in the tournament and I am really thinking he has a chance against a heavy favorite Novak Djokovic.
Maybe it is the new arm sleeve to give him that extra velocity in his swing. Wink
I am not sure but I think he is starting to become the favorite here making it to the finals.

I didn't watch him play this year but his results and statistics sure look impressive. I am thinking playing some handicap on him against Djokovic. If he really plays that well he should be able to at least get to tie break in some sets. I don't believe he can actually win against player with best return on the tour but hopefully he will put up a good fight.

It was an extraordinary match, Nick Kyrgios victory made the Australian tennis fans happy after yesterday disappointed with the defeat of J. Millman who could almost beaten Federer.
The next match against Nadal will not be an easy match for both.

Like I mentioned in a previous post before the tournament started that the fans will get behind Nick Kyrgios this year because of what he is doing for the bush fire relief fund. I think we are going to see a good match against Nadal and I really hope that it goes the distance as Kyrgios has shown before that he can match it with Nadal and even beat him so its going to be a great match up. I can't believe all the shock losses we are seeing with many top seeds losing, mainly on the Women's side. I think it opens up the door for Halep and Barty. My futures bet on Federer is still alive, just as he almost lost to Millman, I'm a little upset that Tsitsipas was knocked out but Raonic is a very good player.

I agree mate, fans are behind Kyrgios now and this is a big boost of confidence on his part.

It will be a huge match against Nadal, we all know that this two has a history in the past, so I'm sure this could end in a controversial match. Interesting to note that Nick leads 2-1 h2h as far as hard court is concern. So this match makes it very more interesting specially for bettors out there.

I'm looking at Halep now, seems she is strong at his AO, Kerber and Gauff could be a dark horse. Yes, who will not upset by Tsitsipas getting ousted this early, on the other hand Raonic is not that bad, it's just he fall out of the ranking because of injuries and he is back definitely with a big upset on Tsitsipas. He will be facing M. Čilić another good un-rank player in this tournament.

Yes Nadal and Kyrgios have a lot of history already and the last few matches have been controversial with the way Kyrgios plays against Nadal and by the sounds of what Kyrgios said in a press conference he won't change his way of playing against Nadal. I'm just hoping for a good match and lets see if Kyrgios can keep his cool and push Nadal and maybe even beat him.

Nadal just took a break in fourth set, it is an important advantage in the moment, seems that Kyrgios did not get over tie-break in third set, will see how this is going to turn out till the end...

Kyrgios had a great match with Nadal at Wimbledon in 2014, here is a one detail from that match https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DJgHwseiDI
it was his first win over top 10 player, and Nadal went down for two year after that (till AO 2017 and final with Federer), so they have important history...

edit: Nadal won the match at the end 3:1, will meet Thiem in QF, maybe most interesting QF, with Zverev vs Wawrinka also interesting, in the other half - Djokovic will burn Raonic with ease and Federer is absolut favourite with Sandgren...

The Nadal/Kyrgios match is living up to expectation as its currently in the 4th set with both players wining 1 game each. The third set was an epic battle which Nadal was able to win in a tie break 8-6. Kyrgios is really fighting hard and I really hope he can pull off the victory but as we know Nadal is a tough player to beat. I had a feeling that Medvedev wouldn't do as well as everyone expected, he still has a long way to go before challenging for a Grand Slam and winning one. Zverev and Thiem are still alive and look good as the hopes for the young talent. Its really looking good for Halep in the Women's draw with Kerber and Bertens both losing their matches. Barty is also in with a chance but she has a tough match tomorrow against Kvitova.

Terrific match between A. Kontaveit vs I. Swiatek, third set Kontaveit lead 5-1 but Swiatek can catch up and be 5-5, finally Kontaveit can win the match. She advance to next round and will face Halep.

Nick Kyrgios really did show us what he is really made of, plus as what @vella85 has said, the crowd is behind him that's why he was able to overcome Karen here.

As I have said, it will be a great match and it surely didn't disappoint us tennis fans. Nadal is always a tough match whoever he faces, definitely will watch this if time permits.
In last four matches Nadal won 2 and Kyrgios 2 so look like this is going to be very exciting even odds are very hot for Nadal @1.16 but I feel going with over 36 Games @1.70 is much better as this match is going to be in  four or five sets not easy for any player.

Good win for Nick Kyrgios, when everyone thought that he is already out, he digs deeper and win a tough but game  Karen Khachanov.

Just watching the match between Kyrgios and Khachanov and it seems to me that Kyrgios is looking much more focused then he was in the last months. Maybe he managed to mature a little and find peace within his game. Or maybe he just hit a good patch of results and rides the wave before the next crash. We will see what will be his reactions when result isn't in his favor.

Kyrgios was 2:0 up against Khachanov but the Russian is slowly clawing his way back in the match. We are now in the end stage of 4th set and if Khachanov gets this one we could have one hell of deciding set and true test for Kyrgios mental capacity.

Likewise, I thought that the match will end on Nick's favor, but Khachanov took the fourth set, hard fought match on-going between the two.

I think Khachanov has taken the momentum now, I was hoping that Nick can win because of the 2-0 up, but Khachanov is very tough so I don't know if Nick can hold up.

Today is day of upsets in Australian Open as have many big players out of tournament Tsitsipas, Bautista-Agut R, Williams S, Keys M and Osaka all gone now lets watch who is next to have ticket for home tomorrow.

Yes, lots of upsets as early as today, the biggest one is Naomi as I have said. Bencic is also ousted, and so is the #2 seed K. Plíšková.

@Strongkored - Federer still proved that he can pull the trigger, he is not yet done, I do hope that he can reach as far as quarter finals, won't be an easy road for him, but let's see.

So it looks like Gauff is a good bet in the womens division. Very young but full of talent already. I was just watching her match before with Osaka, Naomi won that game but Gauff was like the star, I totally forget what tournament it is. But this time Gauff got his revenge, good win.

Kyrgios vs Khachanov, Nick won the first 2 set, but Khachanov come back on the 3rd set. Tie 3-3 on the 4th, it will be exciting match.
