^^ Good. I think it's time to sleep late so that I can watch those matches. Obviously, because of the time difference, usually it's late here when I have to watch the game live. Anyways, there's a lot of interesting match to watch here. Glad that Australians won, and it's sad to see Nick shredding tears after Australia won because of the current state of emergency (fire) in his country.

Yeah it was a great win for Australia and I know how it is as I live in one of the states that is affected by the bush fires so I understand how Nick is feeling as its a bad time for Australia right now. Hopefully Australia winning helps brightens up the country as we need this right now.

Right, this got me thinking though, if the fire continues, will it affect the Australian Open this year?

Health wise is it not good for the players as well as the tennis fans. I really do hope that this bush fires or at least there will be some rain to help the fire fighters stop this blaze.
According to Denis Kudla who was practicing in Melbourne, it is likely the Australian Open will be canceled.

Interviewed by the New York Times, the American player Denis Kudla who stayed a week in Melbourne before leaving for the challenger in Bendigo made a rather catastrophic assessment of the situation: "In my opinion, we have never been that close to '' cancel a Grand Slam tournament. And making the decision to play it will be difficult. Because very clearly if the smoke gets worse, I could not imagine playing a game of four, five hours and not coughing like crazy afterwards. Furthermore, what consequences can it get on our health for playing in a sky covered with smoke? Nobody knows, but it can't be good that's for sure "

@ Juggy777 - Yes, Australians, with their home court advantage, really push the game against the Germans. Everyone is cheering for them, even Nick Kyrgios get the love from the crowd and was really emotional.

@vella85 - hey mate, I do hope that you're doing ok there.

@Yaunfitda  - I think Djokovic already raise that issue with the organizers but I speculate that it will be a day-to-day basis. I do hope that the Australian Open are going to push through without any hiccups because of the crazy bush fires that has been ravaging Australia right now.

And the run continues:

Australia 3 vs Canada 0

John Millman (AUS) defeated Felix Auger-Aliassime (CAN) 6-4 6-2

Alex de Minaur (AUS) defeated Denis Shapovalov (CAN) 6-7 6-4 6-2

C. Guccione/J. Peers (AUS) defeated F. Auger-Aliassime/D. Shapovalov (CAN) 3-6 7-6 10-8

Take note that Nick Kyrgios  is out because of injury.

ATP cup is on, Australia sweeps Germany in the opening day;

Quote
Australia enjoyed a clean sweep of Germany on the opening day of the ATP Cup, finishing 3-0.

Alex de Minaur and Nick Kyrgios lead the way and had fans on their feet when they finished off their matches victorious.

Aussie doubles partners Chris Guccione and John Peers were successful in their event, taking down Kevin Krawietz Andreas Mies 6-3 6-4.

Alexander Zverev crumbled at the hands of De Minaur to secure Australia victory in their ATP Cup opener in Brisbane.

World No.18 de Minaur showed trademark grit to hang with Germany's world No.7 in the early stages, before swamping him in a 4-6 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 win.

It followed a comprehensive Nick Kyrgios victory, 6-4 7-6 (7-4) over Jan-Lennard Struff, that set up an unbeatable 2-0 lead ahead of the final doubles clash on Friday night.

So the tennis season has open up, It looks like Australia is on a good start here. This is going to be an interesting tournament as most of the top ten players are going to represent their country here.

@Kemarit of all the matches that were played yesterday the best match was played between De Minaur and Alexander Zverev and the way Minaur tormented Zverev during the match was absolutely stunning to watch. It’s pertinent to note that Minaur remained focused and determined to win, while Zverev lost his focus and smashed his racket and then he ended up loosing the match.

Amazing win for Tsitsipas over Novak Djokovic.
This guy is here to stay and climb to the top of the ladder. He is facing to the final Rafa Nadal and I think that they winner will aslo get 250,000 dollars along with the trophy.

I think the can draw inspirations from the young players who are sought of chasing them out.  Grin. I think if he can still win one slams next year to proved that he still have is, or until his body holds and then finally retiring for good. Even if he retires though, he can still work as a coach.

I also wanted to see Andy Murray return next year as well or at least bounce back and chase another grand slams as well, its going to be long shot but we will see.

Is it just me or does it feel like its taking forever for the new Tennis season to start.

I have placed a futures bet on the Australian Open for Federer to win outright at $11 odds. Its a long shot however Federer has been great at the start of the season in recent years so I think he has a big shot, of course Djokovic is also very good at the start of the season however I went with some value.

I hate December just for that  Tongue

By the way just noticed 6 protected rankings will be included in the Australian Open draw. Pretty harsh for the players ranked #99, #100, #101... among them Alexandr Dolgopolov, and Lu Yen-Hsun (they have not played for ages, and I thought the latter already retired).

Betting odds ahead of the Australian Open, I would place a bet on Dominic Thiem @ 16.0, that's a nice potential payout, probably possible to hedge for a profit if he reaches the semi, will have to look at the draw first.

LOL, yeah it feels like forever waiting for the official tennis season to start next year.

I haven't put any bet yet, of course, Federer will still be dangerous early at the start of the season. But I'm looking at the new guns, they might pull some upset next season.

Following the famous "40-15" at Wimbledon, I think he is done winning slams, done for good this time, since Wimbledon he played only one great match at the ATP finals but the rest of the showing was poor, he is getting old and plays with no inspiration these days.
Nice career, he is expected to retire at the end of next season, maybe following a last title in Basel.

But next year is looking exciting, more unpredictable than usual.  Wink

Now we have two months for Australian open and its going to be very exciting time as this time we have some very good and talented players those can challenge big threes.

That 2 months will take forever to pass. I got used to watching and betting on some quality tennis and now I will have to turn my complete attention to soccer Smiley

I have a feeling next season could be the one when those young players start to usurp the big three. Thiem, Zverev and Tsitipas have already showed much and if they just a bit of consistency to their game they could all be a legit contenders to fight even for the 1st place in ranking. Then we have a next wave with Shapovalov, De Minaur and Auger knocking on the door. I have probably forgotten a few important names but those are the ones I am looking forward to seeing on the tour..

Yes, I do feel that it's about time that we see other names winning and raising trophies next year.
Thiem Zverev and and my boy Tsitsipas, they just need to be consistent and have a tough psychologically so that they can overcome that barriers and challenge the big 3.

Two months actually feels really long considering the fact that, this year we saw young players almost dethrone their legendary senior counterparts. Also there’s no doubt in my mind that Thiem and Tsitsipas will definitely beat the legendary trio of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic to win many grandslams in the near future. However the only thing stopping them will be their ego, and attitude which I feel they need to work upon if they wish to win consistently.

I'm also looking at this player: Félix Auger-Aliassime, he has been in my radar for sometime and I predict that this kid could be big in the future, only 19 years of age so just imagine if he peaks at 23-25.

-snip-Today I was searching about tennis and have very shocked news who is richest player in tennis history Player who is right now richest I never hear about him and he worth over 2Billion $ may be this could be surprised for some others as well here is link https://wealthygorilla.com/richest-tennis-players-world/

It seems the amount mentioned in the media is not purely the result of the tennis prize they get. For the first place it is reasonable that he has much money because after retiring from tennis the next career looks give more money than tennis prizes throughout his career.

Congrats to Spain for winning the Davis Cup this year.

Rafael Nadal proved once again why he is Spain's number one player, first Davis Cup for Spain since 2011. Emotional and inspiring win for Bautista-Agut as well, just a day he was in his father's funeral and then come back to win, it was so remarkable for him and his team mates.

@Kemarit Spain only won due to the sheer brilliance of Nadal, but it’s high time they start preparing other players to step up because sooner or later Nadal will stop playing due to his injuries. I wasn’t aware of the funeral, and it takes some mental strength to come back from a funeral and yet he managed to play and won the match for his team. How many of you’ll were aware of the fact that Nadal has not lost a single Davis Cup since 2004, and did you’ll take any advantage of this information by placing a wager on Spain to win?.

https://www.bbc.com/sport/tennis/50539416

Yeah, I agree, but it was a team effort and Nadal is the catalyst here. They also have the home court advantage here, would love to place a bet on Spain, but I wasn't able to do. Nadal has a solid record in Davis Cup. Now everyone is settling down for next year's tournament, specially the Australian Open. Everyone is excited next year because it could be the year that we will see outside of the big 3 to win a Grand Slam, so let's see how it goes.
