Thanks for the rain that the first innings did not get over for 170 all out...But looks like India will get sometime to think where they went wrong as 122 for 5 is a horrible score. They need atleast another 150+ runs but only with 2 batsmen out there, it's going to be tough. Disappointed with Virat and Vihari both great batsmen getting out for digits.
The debutante Kyle Jamieson made his presence felt for India and with the weather like this forecast throughout this match we might loose match time everyday i guess and the match depends upon how New Zealand is going to play in the first innings as India too have some quality fast bowlers.

Why is Jadeja not playing? Was depending on him to make 20 more runs like he always does Sad
Ravichandran Ashwin is not a bad batsman as he have 4 Test centuries to his name and with a green wicket you cannot include two spinners.

Lastly the current score is 122 for 5 wickets, and if India don’t post a respectable total then i feel that suddenly New Zealand will become the favourites to win this test match.

They are already the favorites to win this one. The Indian bowlers are skilled enough to dismantle the NZ batting lineup, but the batsmen need to post something close to 300 to provide them an opportunity to do so.

Lol Rain came to rescue but small drizzle not going to save match for India.
Agreed. I am disappointed with Pant being selected over Saha and even more disappointed to see the Indian team change their batting lineup drastically. NZ are playing against a young Indian side who have been under-performing lately(Practice match gave us a preview).

Another test match getting affected due to rain interruption.  Angry

The climate change is playing havoc with the international cricket schedule and I think that very soon we will be forced to stage all the matches involving international teams in the United Arab Emirates. Only 55 overs could be completed today and in case the weather doesn't improve in the coming days, then we'll be having yet another boring draw.

NZ winning the toss and decided rightly to field and result is in front of us as they have picked 5 wickets for score of 122 runs . India would be very disappointed with this start as rain just helped them to take a beak else I think today they would have being all out . Jamieson spell was just amazing and picked 3 wickets out of 5.
Team India made mistake again? I guess not having right combination resulted into such short wickets in the first day itself.India strongly relied on batsmen so they picked only four bowlers into playing XI now its again hard work for bowling squad if there is not enough runs on the score board.I am interested to see Aswin's performance he is capable of scoring century as well and best test all rounder for long time can he prove his skill and make a comeback into the team? ~snip~

@JSRAW what a incredible test debut for Jamieson as he’s picked up 3 valuable wickets, and Indian batman are currently struggling to face him so do you expect him to take more wickets as the match progresses?.

True, dream debut for him. yeah Why not? I would say good opportunity for him to take fifer in his debut game, he can easily knock down tailenders.

Mayank's dismissal was disappointing. He did all the hard work for 2 long hours and then wasted his wicket on very loose delivery.

Lol Rain came to rescue but small drizzle not going to save match for India.

^^ thing still looking okay for Indians despite losing 1 wicket, atleast they didn't lose the 2 wickets in first hour lol considering its dark green wicket Cheesy and So far Pujara and Mayank handling new ball quite well, for kiwis new guy Jamieson looking excellent.
@JSRAW sorry after watching your post here as I click on television Pujara gone I am accepting my mistake and want apologises from my deep heart now just click off television and back in business here on this forum sorry again man please don't feel bad  Wink

Edit: 101 for 5 Rahane and Pant on crease.

Lastly the current score is 122 for 5 wickets and if India don’t post a respectable total then i feel that suddenly New Zealand will become the favourites to win this test match.

I was joking with @JSRAW because as I check his post here on forum I switch on my television as match appear Pujara out so I feel bad and switch off television after some time I check there was 101 for 5 its really poor start by Indian top order now Pant and Rahane can do some better for team.

New Zealand already picked up the first wicket and Prithvi Shaw is back in the pavilion, as expected India lost the toss and as per the reports Saha is replaced by Pant because he performed well in the warm up matches and hope he performs well behind the stumps. India picked Ravichandran Ashwin instead of Jadeja and he is the sole spinner while they have the fast bowling trio of Shami, Bumrah and Ishant Sharma.

^^ And Virat lost the toss, again!! Kiwis are bowling first. @ vishnu yeah his name is Kyle Jamieson, it's his debut test match. For India ; Rishabh-Ashwin in and Saha- jadeja benched.
Virat Kohli is not lucky enough to get the toss as he always losses the toss and New Zealand as expected sent India to bat, Strange to see their specialist keeper Wriddhiman Saha sitting out while Rishabh Pant is playing, not sure whether Saha is injured or not but India needs a specialist keeper in Test matches. The ball is swinging and hope New Zealand could pick up some early wickets and put India on the back foot.

For Kiwis - Seam bowler Wagner is not part of the first Test.

This is a big blow for New Zealand, because Wagner had performed exceptionally well against both England and Australia. He was the backbone of Kiwi pace attack for sometime, along with Boult. The absence of Wagner is going to have a big impact on their chances, as Indians are comfortable against the other bowlers such as Matt Henry and Boult.
Yeah, big blow for kiwis. Don't remember the name of replacement bowler but replacement bowler (insert name) performed well against the Indians in recent ODI series. Boult is dangerous bowler when he's up against subcontinent batsmen.

- Wagner's wife is pregnant and they are expecting first baby soon.

I think that you are talking about Kyle Jamieson, since the other replacement bowler (Hamish Bennett) went for too many runs against the Indian batsmen. His bounce and seam movement troubled some of the Indians and that is why he got selected to the test squad. BTW, Wagner's decision to skip the test surprises me. It is such a crucial match. I remember Sachin Tendulkar flying back to England in 1999 to take part in the remainder of the world cup, just two days after his father died. Anyway... it is up to the individual to decide.

^^ Update on Indian pacer, Ishant seems match fit as he took part in Net-session. Now there is big chance of him playing in the upcoming test.
If Ishant Sharma is not fit to play they will include Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami along with Jasprit Bumrah completes the fast bowling line up and they might play two spinners in Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin and there are reports coming that Rishabh Pant might replace Wriddhiman Saha and if that is the case we might see some dropped catches Cheesy. The pitch might help the fast bowlers in the beginning but then it might help the batsman as per the pitch reports and hence toss will be an important factor.

Saw couple of press conference of skipper Virat and his deputy Ajinkya Rahane and they were hinting that Ishant-Bumrah-Shami trio is set for first test. They didn't gave green light for 2 spots though -spinner and Wicket keeper-

About ground, for some reason everyone saying that wind plays a big part at this venue "Basin Reserve,Wellington" and its green wicket. Kohli sucks at toss so if we go by his track record, then he's going to lose the toss and then Kiwis surely going to invite Indians to bat first. I hope Virat wins the toss this time and opt to bowl first.
