The game went the way Sri Lanka wanted. At the end of 3rd day, Sri Lanka still have a lead of 464 runs while they are just 5 wickets away from win.
Sri Lankan centurion of first inning Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis made an even larger centuries in the 2nd inning propelling the already present lead of Sri Lanka. They made a 500+ lead before being all out which is a rare target for the team batting the final inning in Test match to achieve.
Bangladesh started even poor than the first innings. They lost five of their batsmen at a score of 37. There's no hope for Bangladesh to reach the current target of 464 or bat the remaining whole days. So, unless a miracle, Sri Lanka are already the winners here.

We have worst ever start for the Bangladesh while they are chasing for the 511 runs, and they lost their both openers very quickly in just first three overs of their inning which mean things are going to be terrible for them in this test match while they are having nothing positive Sri Lanka is having impressive batting in both innings of this test match with 4 centuries bring them to this point now they are going to have big won which will give them good confidence.

We all might be looking at another Test match defeat for the Bangladesh team.The way Sri Lanka is batting and scoring runs, it seems that it is completely impossible for Bangladesh to win this match, maybe Bangladesh team's target will be to draw this match. This test match is going out of Bangladesh's reach as much as the Sri Lankan batsmen are making runs. Dhananjay de Silva and Kamindu Mendis are the biggest the enemy for the Bangladesh team as both of them scored a century in the first innings as well as they both completed a century in the second innings as well. These two Sri Lankan batsmen have put the Bangladeshi bowlers to the extreme test mainly because of their batting performance, Sri Lanka has built a mountain of runs against Bangladesh.

De Silva and Mendis' partnership of 202 runs in the first innings allowed the Sri Lankan team to collect 280 runs. Apart from Dhananjata De Silva and Mendis, none of the batsmen in the squad performed well. On the other hand, we have seen the usual poor performance from the Bangladeshi batsmen. At the end of the first innings, the Bangladesh team was trailing by 92 runs. It's by a huge margin on this pitch.

I would say the outcome of the match will depend on today's first session performance. If Sri Lanka can collect up to 200 runs, and give a target of 280-290 runs, then I would say there is no chance for Bangladesh to win. Bangladesh squad now lacks a batsman who can bat responsibly and play big innings.

I won't be surprised if Sri Lanka lose all wickets between 160-170 if the Bangladeshi bowlers do well in the first session. It is difficult to stay at the crease in the first session on this pitch.

Bangladesh team has not won even one of the last 10 Test matches against Sri Lanka. And I will say that the Bangladesh team is definitely going to be defeated in this match as well. And it is impossible to do well in the Test format with a weak and erratic batting order.

Earlier in the day Sri Lanka lost the wicket of Fernando. But like the first innings, the duo of De Silva and Mendis are batting brilliantly in the second innings as well. Bangladesh's batting order is weak. Experienced batsmen like Shakib, Mushfiqur and Mahmudullah are not with the squad. And almost every batsman's performance is erratic. It is not possible for Bangladesh to win by batting at 400+ targets in such a situation.

Yes those two Sri Lankan batsmen were the biggest obstacle in front of Bangladesh and they played a big innings showing their strength. Sri Lanka team is 221 runs ahead of Bangladesh now but they have one more day to play and with five wickets in hand maybe this target will be much bigger for Bangladesh. Today the Bangladeshi bowlers will have to bowl much better and they will have to aim so that the Sri Lankan team cannot give them a target of more than 300 runs. The more Sri Lanka scores 300 runs the more difficult it will be for Bangladesh to cross that mark.
But the good news for the Bangladesh team is that their all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is returning to cricket in the second Test match against Sri Lanka. Shakib Al Hasan is missing the entire series against Sri Lanka due to eye problem, maybe he is missing a lot in the Bangladesh team.
