England wins the toss and gonna bat first. From India's side there are two changes; first being, Patidar goes out and Padikkal is in (Patidar got injured last evening, lol), and Bumrah is back in place of Akash Deep. From England's side change were already announced beforehand, Wood is in at place of Ollie Robinson.

Devdutt Padikkal is making his debut today, Akash Deep is making room for Jasprit Bumrah.Akash Deep showed his excellence, and players like him should be acknowledged early in their careers. It's really disappointing that they dropped him today; being benched despite performing well can really shake your confidence. I think it would have been fair to include Akash Deep alongside Siraj for today's test match, considering it's just a formality for India.

Notorious Indian management manufactures Grin another injury, just to drop Patidar lol. Could be a genuine injury but the management's record is not great in this regard, hence the doubt.

Atm this deck looks like a fine road to me. Can we expect big score in the first inning, very much possible IMO.

The host India will take on England today in the fifth and final Test match of the series. Team India has already lost three out of four matches and won three consecutive matches to seal the series. The win-loss of the fifth Test match will not affect the series win as India has already won the series. Having won three matches in a row, Team India is much ahead of England in terms of confidence. Team India will look to perform in the fifth and final T20 match as they have done in the last three matches. If the performance is normal then the result of the fifth Test match is more likely to go in favor of India.
Yes today is the final match between host India and England in their Test series. When the Test series between England and India started England showed their strength by defeating India in the first Test match. But after that, the Indian team showed how strong they are by winning three consecutive Test matches and taking the series. Today's test match is just a formality for India as whichever team wins today's test match will have no bearing on the series win.

Some notable moments this match: 1) Ashwin and Jonny Bairstow playing their 100th test match 2) with Padikkal's debut, now there have been 5 debutants in this series 3) James Anderson needs 2 more wickets to complete his 700 wickets milestone.

The England team is going to face India today in the fifth and final Test match of the series. England started the series with a fantastic win in the first match. But even then England lost three matches in a row and lost the series as well. England lost every match due to poor batting. The batsmen are not able to do well against the Indian bowlers on this Indian pitch.

In the last match we saw that the England players batted well in the first innings. They collected 353 runs. But in the second innings England team lost all the wickets to collect only 145 runs. and gave a target of only 192 runs. It is impossible to win against India by giving such a small target. Naturally, India won very easily.

India team played against Australia on this pitch of Dharmashala in 2017. And India won the match by 8 wickets. It is difficult to bat well in the second innings on this pitch. If the batsmen of England bat badly in this match as in the previous matches, then the team will lose the series 4-1. The batsmen must play well if England are to win.

Did you even watch the recent India-England tests? None of them were one-sided so far thanks to twists and turns on a regular basis which entertained a lot of viewers across the world.

For example, everyone thought India would win the first test, but England literally pulled off a heist. Am not expecting the final test to be one-sided for these reasons.
The first match was competitive, the scorecard suggests that (28 runs winning margin).

But 2nd and 3rd matches were competitive in patches only and the winning margins were 106 and freaking 435 runs (their biggest defeat in 100 years). It was a similar story for the 4th test match, Poms had their moment but failed to strengthen their positions when the Indians were down.

Overall competitive series and at times they raised the bar by putting tremendous pressure but now we have enough data that BAZBALL can't sustain for long against top teams like Australia and India, especially in the 5-test match series. IMO BGT 2017 was better.

This series is more entertaining that's for sure but the results are much expected that India will win because they have been dominating every bilateral series for the last 10 years.

ENG gave fights but they didn't play sensibly enough to win matches or else they could made the results into more favor of them but making test format entertaining seems to be the primary goal of ENG that is superb for the future of test format cause its already dying and very few nations are concentrating to keep it alive.

Nothing concrete but I'm hearing on Twitter with sources as 'reports' that Patidar will play 5th test, if he's indeed going to play that makes Padikkal's inclusion in playing XI questionable and I don't think there is anyone else who would sit out.

I agree with the assessment. First match was tightly fought and won by England. India won the second and third by big margins and I felt that the matches were lop-sided. Fourth match was tight and England could have won. But then some stupid captaincy tactics and blistering batting from Dhruv Jurel made things really bad for England. Now the 5th match is just a formality. A win can help England in the WTC points table. But by now it is proven that only Australia can be competitive in Indian pitches. No other team can challenge India at home.

Only one change in the England team, Mark wood is in and Ollie Robinson is out. Earlier speculation was that England was planning to add another seamer to the contingent for the final test in Dharamshala due to the cold conditions. India has not announced about the probable 11 for the final test. I do not think that they will make any changes to the current team structure. Still clueless whether Bhumrah will be rested or he will be playing the final test.

Dont get me wrong, I am not saying the match between India and England is going to be not interesting. But for some reason, I expect this match might be a little boring or one sided. Either England or India, one of them are going to be playing too well for the other team.

^^ Not a series decider so yeah but as far as WTC is concerned it's not a dead rubber per se because 12 points are on the table. From England's perspective, points won't matter much because they are already lagging but they would prefer 2-3 scoreline, instead of 1-4.

India needs the remaining 12 points because they have a tough tour of Australia.

Australian tour would be interesting for sure. At this point, Australia are struggling at the 3rd place and there is a large gap between them and India. But then, Australia has one match remaining against New Zealand. And the 5-match series against India is towards the end of the year. Before that they don't have any other test series. This is a bit surprising, given the fact that Australians usually play more test matches compared to the other teams (the only exception maybe England, and perhaps India).
Ah well, I think this time they will spank us because we are still in a transition period, and for Opener Jaiswal or maybe in the middle order Sarfraz/Jurel it would be their first Australian tour.

Every team is playing 6 series (3 Home + 3 Away) and this is the 4th series for Australia. After that international schedule is packed with IPL and T-20 WC. Also, their home season kicks around Oct-Nov, which plays a big part in their cricketing schedule.

First of all Australia was able to win the last match and the series is on the line on this match.

But in the India match, they have already won the series. So I don't think India has the same level of incentive for going to go for a win in this match. At least compared to them Australia or New Zealand has a lot more incentive to win this match.

So I think this match between Australia and New Zealand is going to be more interesting compared to India versus England.

The second test match starts from 8th match and New Zealand will strongly come back in this test match. The first test match was boring and emd and on the 4th day 1st session of the match Australia won by huge huge lead 170 plus runs. The Australian team is a dangerous side in test cricket winning from Australia is not easy for any team in the world.
New Zealand don't have much options left in this series, they can draw this series by wining the last test. It's very difficult to beat Australians in test. Australians recently white washed Pakistan (3-0) followed by a draw series against West Indies. They are in good form and New Zealand need to perform exceptionally well in last test to win the game. The batting of New Zealand was disappointing in first test and they need to improve it to draw the series.
Australians are clearly favourite for the win in second match and series as well, but their main concern is batting with in first game they have problems, but Cameron Green was the saviour for them all their top order badly fail in both innings even New Zealand were also failed to give their best, but now we will be in second match hopefully New Zealand will try to improve at home for the win and ending their home season on positive note but still its never been easy because Australian bowling is currently at the top and their all bowlers are giving their best.

Both teams are also looking for the WTC points as well because currently we have India, Australia and New Zealand and most chances these teams will be stayed at the top until long time as now after this match we will have IPL and the Twenty world cup, and then we will have matches which are going to take long time.

In the first test of New Zealand vs Australia match, team Australia defeated new Zealand with 172 runs but i still believe that both team played so well. Australia luckily did 383-10 in first innings & only 164-10 in second innings. Where New Zealand made 179-10 runs and 196-10 runs respectively in 1st and 2nd inning. Here the difference wasn't much in 2nd innings. Both team had best batsman as well as bowlers But it was the first inning where Australia was dominating new Zealand with good amount of runs and Cameron Green (174) was the person who was about to made double century alone. Otherwise look at the 2nd innings of Australia team.

So, although New Zealand team wants to win against Australia, they must play responsible batting otherwise they cannot win the match against Australia.
Australia can be called legendary team, they are good in bat and bowl both side. Although new Zealand can't be neglected. Cause without contribution of Cameron Green, you can see both team had similar runs where others players of Australia didn't perform well. at 8 march, another interesting match is waiting. Where we could see a good performance from Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra. But don't forget Australia also has Steven Smith, Usman Khawaja, Travis Head who are expecting to develop themselves in next match

You are right because in the first test match of New Zealand vs Australia, the Australian team had a batting disaster in the first innings but because of Cameron Green's responsible batting, the Australian team managed to score 383 runs. Cameron Green batted brilliantly in the first innings and remained unbeaten with 174 runs. The performance of the Australian team players in the second innings was very bad compared to the first innings, only 164 runs were all out in the second innings. But the batsmen of the New Zealand team could not bat very well in the first innings and second innings in the first test match. New Zealand's batsmen failed to bat responsibly which led to a massive 172-run defeat in the first Test match against Australia. So, although New Zealand team wants to win against Australia, they must play responsible batting otherwise they cannot win the match against Australia.
