One bad session and the match turned upside down for India, i was disappointed with the Aussie first innings but then they surprised me with their bowling and the high profile batting line up was humiliated and their first game with the pink ball turned out to be a disaster.

It's an Indian low scoring records. Win or lose matter less when you are making records.
Jokes aside, it was a low scoring first inning from Australia as well. There are still three more test games left to test these teams. Both of these team to some extent are playing with non regular test players or new players. And they're playing a test match after a long period of time.

Even though I'm an Australian fan, I'm not getting to excited about this result as India can bounce back in the series and what does help India is that they play well at the MCG in recent matches with a draw and they won in 2018 so they can feel a little confident that they can play well in the Boxing Day test match. Also India do have a decent record at the SCG even though most of the matches have ended in a draw between the teams so I'm not sure if we'll see a whitewash as some are saying.

IMO, Ashwin's batting skills are not better than that of either Pat Cummins or Mitchell Starc. He has scored some valuable runs in the past and his batting average is much better than his Australian counterparts. But most of his runs have come against weak opponents in Indian pitches. Expecting the same in Australia, against the pace trio of Starc/Hazlewood/Cummins would be a little too much.
The skill is measured on how long you can bat in Test cricket and Ashwin scored a total of 6 centuries in total in the longer format, even if he plays in India that does not matter as every player will have an advantage in home conditions and none of the players mentioned are classic batsman but Starc and Cummins can hit the ball while Ashwin is not an explosive player and you cannot expect these half batsman scoring against tough opponents or bowling friendly wickets.

I did not expect this turnaround in the match, India loosing all their wickets for 36 runs  Cheesy. Never would have dreamed before the innings started.

Even the best batsman like Kohli is struggling then it is not fair to blame Ashwin, he did his job with his bowling so the batting is the real concern in their innings because losing for 36 is not really a justification even though the wicket is most wicket friendly.

What the captain said about their terrible performance? I didn't have time to watch today's match.

As a Indian cricket fan World cup semi final defeat didn't hurt that much but today's defeat is really haunting, still trying to recover from this humiliating defeat. Not sure if i am going to forget this game ever and i have a feeling that remaining games are going to be very painful unless something dramatic happen, which is very unlikely. The best Indian team can do is win at-least 1 game and do some damage control, otherwise fair amount of careers going to finish after this series.

I genuinely thought that India had a very good chance of winning this game and they were favorites but damn our batsmen just got #ucked brutally.

* Guess Aus vs NZ final is coming soon.

It will be an unforgettable day for India as well as Australia. With the lead of 43 runs India starting the second innings on Home ground of Australia is truly big when the first innings score wasn't that high. Hazlewood and Cummins are the history makers, without them such as a consecutive wicket fall couldn't have happened. India on the other side showed its worst batting performance, having the best batting line-up.

Nothing to discuss here as everyone who has seen the wickets and the way India played will just be highly disappointed after seeing the way India took lead from 1st innings. This performance will need to be forgotten by team quickly and need to look how well if they can make a comeback in 2nd test .

After losing first test like this its really matter of worry for Indian team and management because they was really on driving seat after end of first innings but suddenly this collapse give them big shock fielding is also very poor from their standard now they have 7 days to think about how they manage this all for fightback in this series.
It is not going to be easy days for the team India because they made one of the worst histories which is not supposed to happen no matter how hard the opposition team was. But they need to forget this day and move on to the next match. Will there be any changes in the team? Not sure but I want a better opening pair to be honest than Prithvi Shaw who always failed to score runs which put the team India under pressure straight away.

If you check the post from UmerIdrees, it can be seen that in the past India scored less than 100 runs while they were playing in surfaces where the pacers got excessive support in the form of extra pace or bounce, or when they were playing against legendary bowlers. But here that was not the case. It is the same pitch where India scored 244 in the first innings. And Hazlewood and Cummins, although being very good bowlers are not necessarily in the "legendary" category.
I also check highlits after checking this all just few comments that today luck was with Hazelwood and Cummins agree with Vishnu nothing special from Australian bowlers just Indian team was on bad time its happen in cricket because we call cricket by chance so today Australa take full advantage of this good chance now matter or worry is Kohli is going home and India without him how response because former Australian Captain already predicted India will lost this series by 4 - 0 is this going to happen or can they perform some better then this.

Which former Australian captain predicted that India will loss the series 4-0 ? Although India did lost this match but they will come back strongly in the next test match. Aussie should not take any thing for granted because india will prove to be tough opposition in the coming matches.

From the next match onwards it is going to be worse, since Kohli is not going to be there. I checked the highlights. To my surprise I found out that Cummins and Hazlewood did hardly anything special. They were sticking to good line and length, with the occasional bouncers. But the Indian batsmen found it too tough to handle. Will India lose this series 0-4, as predicted by Michael Vaughan?
I don't think so. I am expecting a draw 2-2 or an Australian win 1-3, but a whitewash seems unlikely. People are jumping to conclusions way too fast just because of one horrible innings.

Indian players made new history. India will lose the match in a very bad way. And I hope they maintain this continuity. They will also lose the next matches successfully. Cheesy Grin
Lol. You clearly are an Indian team hater. Stop acting like you can predict the future. India messed up in the first match, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will translate into a 0-4 whitewash. Underestimating them is pure stupidity.

This is not the first time India scored very few runs in test matches.
Here you can find their record and habit of scoring less than 100 runs in an test innings.

I am not a hater of the India team. I am against their team management. They will play 4 Test matches on the Australian pitch, against a test specialist country like Australia. They must have preferred experienced players. They have selected a bunch of young players to play on the Australian pitch. If the team did not have experienced bowlers like Ashwin and Bumrah. Then India would have lost the match by an innings. I hope you got my point.

I'm smiling a lot Grin Grin. No Indian batsman has been able to score 10 runs  Grin. This is the lowest score in India's Test cricket history. Before this innings, India lost all their wickets by 42 runs against England in Lord's. Maybe, that was in 1974. Indian players made new history. India will lose the match in a very bad way. And I hope they maintain this continuity. They will also lose the next matches successfully. Cheesy Grin

A few feather in the cap of Virat Kohli  Cheesy. I could not believe my eyes when i saw a pop up showing the highlights of India's unbelievable collapse and most of the dismissals were similar as if i was watching the replay Grin.
None of the players were able to score double digits and what major changes they can make in the rest of the series is a big question.

India made only 36 runs which is their lowest score in the test cricket. Their pervious lowest was 42 runs against England in 1974 which was long time before. I don't agree it was a pathetic batting by india, perhaps the pitch has something to do with it. If Australia face difficulty in this chase, then we can blame the pitch.

Quite embarrassing day if you are Indian fan, just look at the scoreboard FFS. Not sure what Cummins and Hazlewood ate today, especially Hazlewood looked like he's was on steroids lol

Prithvi Shaw should be happy. Before the start of today's play everyone in India were discussing about him and the manner in which he got out yesterday. But now it seems as if everyone has forgotten his performance. People are talking about the manner in which Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane got out. It's just humiliating the way in which they even failed to make a three digit total.
