what could be the reason of vertminer 0.5.2 and 0.5.3 not working? the cmd window closes as soon as I run the .bat file. Has anyone had a similar issue?

@bullus I tried your settings exactly but I keep getting artifacts on the screen and only 220k hash rate.. Can you please tell me which drivers are you using, which operating system and how much ram?

I have sapphire dual x 7950 and getting very bad results. One time I got it up to 250k hash rate but then I wanted to improve it but I just fu*** it up Smiley .
My setup is e6400, 3gb ddr2, sapphire dual x 7950, catalyst drivers 13.1, windows 7 64bit

Just ordered 4 gb of ram, hope that will fix it.  Does anyone have any suggestions? Intensity can't go above 13 or it doesn't start, thread concurrency can't go above 10000, or it will say gpu 0 failure

Hey guys I'm having trouble getting my 7950 vapor-x higher than 160 kh/s. Have tried running with -g 2 but it automatically disables 1 thread. I also can't seem to be able to run vertminer (neither 0.5.2 or 0.5.3), when I run the .bat it closes instantly. So I'm stuck with cgminer for the moment.. Any thoughts? When mining Vertcoins I have found it is very important to use the right Catalyst drivers, so please post OS and driver version with your settings.

I have been struggling with my hashrates, but just as an example I have 5x R9 290 (in two different systems) under Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.

With stock speeds, intensity 17, tc 24550, w 256
Catalyst 14.1 gives around 250 khash/s
Catalyst 13.12 gives ~300 khash/s
Catalyst 13.11 beta 9.5 gives ~400 khash/s

So, if you feel you are stuck and have tried everything - don't forget to try different drivers as well.

Thanks for you suggestion, however I find quite hard to find the 13.11 beta 9.5 drivers for linux in the net, they disappeared after realising the new beta.

EDIT: I tried 13.11 beta 9.55 nothing changed, apart from not starting with -g 2 at all.

Here are my settings,

I have 4 R9 270's running on Vertcoin BAMT, GPU 0 & 3 are Sapphire R9-270's and 1,2 are Asus. Is 170kh/s optimal for this card? Ive played with a few settings and cant seem to find a higher stable sweet spot. Note the Asus have been undervolted to 1.1v  the 0,3 have stock voltage ( looks a bit strange)

I am running all this on an Asrock 970 Extreme 4, 8gb ram ( went out and got more thinking it would make a diff, )

GPU  Temp     Load   Rate           Accept/Invalid           GPU FamilyFan% (rpm)   Core   Memory   Power
0   72.0 c   99%   170 Kh/s   248 / 0   0.00%   200 Series   57% (3180)   945 Mhz   1400 Mhz   1.188v

I was trying 8191 and 8193 - nothing has changed.
I even switched AMD drivers to 13.12 - still nothing. I also upgaded the vertminer to the 0.5.4pre.
I've got enough for today, I don't sleep because of the VTC ; )

I'm leaving it with -I 13 - g 1 --threads-concurrency 8192 --> at least I will have about 295 kH/s.

All right, I finally managed to discover what was the problem. (gigabyte r9 280x)

After disabling

Code:
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100

I am able to set - g 2 parameter. However now when intensity 13 is set, I'm getting HW errors. The highest usable intensity is 12, but still can't squeeze more then about 300 kH/s : |

Code:
export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=200

doesn't work.

(Ubuntu 13.10, vertminer 0.5.3, AMD linux beta driver 14.1, AMD-SDK 2.9)

Any ideas what might be wrong? With - g 2 set, I've got nice 350-370 kH/s but definitely too much HW errors.

Have you any experience with 13.12 AMD drivers? Are they better regarding mining vertcoin than the beta ones?

AFAKI, 14.1 doesn't work well with anything. My 4x280 rig is on 13.11beta9, which I think it is quite decent.
BTW, try to set your tc to 8191 if 8192 doesn't work (8192 didn't work for me).  GPU1 is the IGPU, so it was disabled.

for those who struggles to get decent hashrate for their 290x. I finally managed to crack 400K for my reference card using:

g:1 i:20 tc: 22528, 980/1500 settings. hope that helps.

still not getting what others are getting (450ish), but much better than the 330-350K I was having.

Now my card were running smooth on those settings with 363kh each before

Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
C:\VertcoinGPU\cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://mine1.coinmine.pl:6350 -uxxxx -p xxxxx -o stratum+tcp://eu.bitcrush.info:3444 -u xxxx -p xxxx --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8193 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 30-85 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-target 75 --gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1020 --gpu-powertune -20 --expiry 1 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 --no-submit-stale

I have changed the 8193 just for 1 test of 2 minutes and decided to switch back on 8193 again. Ever since I did that I can't even get close to my old hashrates anymore, I rebooted the rig and changed everything as it has been but my hashrates are almost 100kh down on each card. Any suggestions? The fans run much slower and the power consumption has dropped down by 100 watt, so the rig is not using it's full potential anymore. Any idea what happens??!?!? Help appreciated !!!

I'm talking about 3 r9 280x btw

!!!I got it solved, hard reset, new miner and bat installation worked out. Damn problems over problems lol

Gigabyte HD7990 @ 1.025 VDDC, running Bufius' vertminer 0.5.3 on Win 7/64
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

--gpu-engine 950 --gpu-memclock 1200 -v 1 --intensity 13 --lookup-gap 2 -g 2 -w 256 --shaders 2048 --thread-concurrency 8192

I could not get vertminer to compile/upload the CL kernel with these settings when I had only 2GB RAM in the machine. It worked when I put another 4GB in for 6GB total. Maybe 4GB would be enough but I didn't have time to test as I returned the 4GB module I borrowed for trying this out.

Increasing memory clock gives no extra speed, just a bit higher temps and more power consumption. What's also strange is that going up to 1050 or 1100 MHz GPU clock did not increase hash rate at all, no matter if I used 1200 MHz or 1500 MHz memory clock. 950/1200 was the best setting I found. As the HD7990 is two 7970 on the same card I believe these settings should work just fine for HD7970 too.

Edit: I am running an unlocked 7990 BIOS, so I can set core/memory frequencies as I want.

Hello
Thanks for the info, 950/1200 helped a lot!, it didn't changed the hashrate but lowered my temperature and reduced power consumption, now I am at 255 KH with each MSI R9 280X GAMING 3G but temperature stays at a happy 64 degrees C  Grin

Regarding memory, you are in luck!, in my setup it is impossible to make it work with less than 8GB (under windows 7 64bit) will try linux later on, I am sure it will work with only 4GB just fine.

I am also doing really badly on the hastrate, only getting 360 max for my ref. sapphire 290x!
however, I managed to compile vertminer 0.5.4pre via git for ubuntu 12.04 LTS x64.

i'd share it here!
https://www.dropbox.com/s/yuxk15h0as4nr83/vertminer-0.5.4pre.tar.gz

driver: 13.12, app-sdk 2.9, adl sdk: 6

tips appreciated!

Can you link the changelog? Anything important?

actually, i can't find any info related to what's been updated in 0.5.4. I just compiled as per official instruction, and the version is 0.5.4pre1.

Has anyone compiled a Linux distro for Vertcoin mining? I'm currently on BAMT but I'd love to get into mining VTC... and I'm a total Linux noob :-/

You don't need to compile any linux distro yourself, you can use for example the last Ubuntu, personally I used the mini.iso : )

Very low WU rate:

I am using 2x sapphire 7950's (dual-x) and 2 XFX 7950's.

Any ideas?

Why has nobody said this yet..? Your HW errors are too high.
