I'm having issues mining vertcoin.  I've been scrypt mining on a 6870 at 300Kh/s with these arguments:

-I 18 -w 128 --thread-concurrency 6720

When I tried moving to the modified vertcoin miner even with lowering the intensity to 12 (or even 8 ) I get nonstop:

(Too many invalid shares)

I don't see anything in the documentation that notes any other settings I should be using.  Is there something I'm missing?

Does anyone have decent settings for R9 290x with Elpida RAM?  I have 3 rigs with 3 cards each and am 'only' getting about 320kh per card

Been following this thread and it looks like these cards should be running a little better but I have not had any success tuning them.  I am currently running I-18  TC-25550 threads-1 dyninterval-7 platform-0 vectors-1 lookup-gap-0 worksize-256 GPU-925 Mem-1500 stock voltage

I have adjusted the GPU clocks up to about 1025 and get a little improvement, but it is unstable and crashes within about 10-15 min

If I adjust the Mem clock down or the Intensity then hash rate drops

Cards are sapphire reference cards - they hash on normal scrypt at about 880-900kh (win7) - I have one of these same cards in a BAMT machine that is hashing at 980kh - so I think they have more potential, but haven't been able to tease it out yet...

2x Tri-x Sapphire R9 290 here

1 is ok, 1025-1475 intenisty 17, TC 24550 - 450kh/s..rock stable.

1 is having HW errors. All the time I run on Intensity 17 (hashrate about 420-430k/s)
on 1000/1350-1375 HW 10-15 in first 15minutes, sick, reboot.
990/1475 - same
990/1450 - same
980/[1450/1475] - after few hours few HW
970/[1450/1475] - after 12 hours few HW
960/1450 - after 24h 5 HW
1000/1250 - HW 10-15 in first 15minutes, sick, reboot. (440kh/s)
970-1250 - testing now, report tomorrow evening. (425kh/s)

I want to go down to 0 with HW..not sure what's wrong with this cards..maybe I could try to copy bios from the other one and put it into that one?Cheesy they are both Hynix..funny is that this one has 84% asic quality, while the better one has "only" 76%.

Hello guys! I do not know if anyone had the same problem but when i mine (any vert pool that is) my cgminerAleks.n3 shows 310 and 350 on each of my R9 280x whereas the pool shows 15-55kh/s
Can you help?
It appears to run ok and accepting..

First, check your HW errors. If you have a lot of errors, then the pool isn't receiving much work.

Then, just wait. The pool will catch up. It estimates your hashing power from the number of shares to submit.

Many thanks for the response my friend. We'll I am in a bit of an odd situation.
I run a system with 2x8gig ram, 8core and and 2 r9 280x
I set it up with l 13 and it hashes 380 and 320 on each of the cards but it does 10-50 kh/s on the pool.
When I lower the l to 12 it does 302 and 270 on the cards and that reflects on the pool fine.
I don't know why and wish I could explain why this happens. I use the correct cg miner, concurrency is set to 4096 as it cannot go any higher on my cards for some reason, other values are 256,  -g 2 etc.

Hi,

I am running Vertminer 0.5.3 on Xubuntu 12.04. So far no problems. Only one thing that bothers me is that Vertminer is not showing overview of hashrate, fan speed, temperatures, etc. as usual but I get screen of "running" text where actual hashrate is sometimes shown at the very bottom.

http://s15.postimg.org/7zfhl1rrf/vertminer.gif

Do you have any idea what is wrong? Thanks for help.

Do you have libncurses5-dev installed?

I installed mentioned lib but unfotunately with no efect.

Any other idea? Is there someone who runs Linux rig who can share experiences? Thanks.

Did you compile yourself? If so try again now that cursus lib is installed?

Everything seems to be installed but vertminer still not showing details. I found similar topic to be discussed on Reddit. I tried both suggestions but again nothing..

Another day experiment give me new observations :

Systems limit by 4GB give TC limit of 8192 and Intensity 13 regardless of number of GPU.

Testing one rig with 8GB with 2 R290X can equally drive to 440kH/s each and undervolt by 50mV  with MSI Afterburner E 1000 M 1500 TC 24000.

For normal R290, Hynix RAM (E 1000 M 1500 ) outrun Elpida (947 1250 ) by 10% give 440kH/s to 400kH/s.   Elpida with 1000 1500 seems not the optimum setting anymore and instead will drop to 380kH/s.  TC 24000.

The Adaptive each time + 1 will need additional 4GB RAM?  8GB can only last you to 2016.  After 2 years faster RAM and GPU will replace the current generations of GPU and RAM with 12nm devices.  So ASIC with 100 times speed need 800 GB RAM will be economically not viable.

I noticed it says cgminer 3.7.2 at the top. shouldn't you be using vertminer 0.5.2 or 0.5.3 instead...?

this has been covered many times before, and even I asked about it after others had asked what u did. it is modified cgminer , no idea why they called it cg when i dl it and etc its called
Vertcoin-CGMinerAleks_NR3
when u run it its called cg for some reason, i even changed name of it and it says cg

My config:
3 * Sapphire HD 7950 (Boost & 2*DualX)
My Goal is to keep my rig under 700W and therefore I undervolt the cards. I did this in the BIOS (with VDE software).
Second goal is too keep the temp below 75 degrees. I have an additional fan blowing over the cards.
With this config I get around 800 kH/s, no hardware errors and 680Watt for my whole rig. I could easily go above 300 but then I had to turn the voltage up and i dont wanna do that.

Using Vertminer and some settings in the vertminer config:

"intensity" : "18, 18, 18",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256,256,256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"shaders" : "0,0",
"thread-concurrency" : "19400, 19400, 19400",
"gpu-engine" : "0-1000,0-975,975",
"gpu-memclock" : "1350,1300,1150",

Edit: Still finetuning some clock/memsettings but this is a basic stable config.

whats your config for the 270 (non x). I cant seem to get my gigabyte 270s stable with any of the settings in this thread.

EDIT

Currently testing the following (5 Gigabyte R9 270 non X)

-v 1 -g 1 -I 17 -w 256 --lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 12992 --gpu-engine 1086 --gpu-memclock 1475 --temp-target 73 --auto-fan -- temp-overheat 85 --temp-cutoff 90

Here's what it looks like so far

1 hw error right when I started but havent had one since. I will report back if it becomes unstable

Update

So far only 2 HW errors and its been running for over 2 hours.

Update2

Been going for 8 hours now and I have 8 HW errors. I'd like to get to the point where I don't have HW errors at all but I am pretty satisfied with where I am at right now.

something else must be wrong. your miner reports your intensity is 8, not 13.

yes Im trying to figure out what but no one seems to know

Getting around around 290/300 kh/s with 7950 sapphire dualx with boost 3GB  No HWs

-I 13 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 8192  --gpu-powertune 20 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-memclock 1500  1.187V VGPU
same card
same settings, no powertune, stock voltage no matter what settings i set i get 8int on window see

I added +4 GB of RAM and I can mine. However, in a rig of 1 7950 and 1 280x, only the 280x is working properly with 290kh/s. The other one gets 7-8 kh/s. Any ideas?

7950 same prob if u find out plz tell me

I added a 4th card to my rig and what used to be my 3rd card is now identified as my 4th. That really screwed up some configurations!

If it helps anyone out there:

xfx DD R7950 = 375k/h-380k/h Hits 380k/h-383k/h with primary monitor off... Temp= 73C fan sits at 47% 0 REJECTS 0 H/W after 2hrs

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 200
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
vertminer --scrypt-vert -o pool:port -u user -p pass --lookup-gap 2 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 6912 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 30-75 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-target 72 gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1070

Hope this helps
-J3TW4V3

I tried this and got a lot of HW errors on my XFX. got a picture for proof?

GPU0: 7950
GPU1: 280x still working on config
26hr mining results with my current config

-J3TW4V3

It's impressive how you manage to get that high on your 7950. I can't get over ~280Kh/s on my Sapphire 7950 Dual X with any of the combination I have tried so far.

Impossible. Gpu 0 must be 280x, and gpu1 is hd7950. Check it.

My settings are currently conservative because of the temperatures (ASUS R9 270. many reports of high temps with this card), but if I recall, the ones that gave me the highest numbers were:

core/mem - 1100/1250
vddc - stock
powertune - 0
lookup-gap - 2
gpu-threads - 1
intensity - 19
thread-concurrency - 12288 (I'm not convinced this is the best TC, but so far it's ok. I have still been fighting some HW errors but they are very infrequent)
worksize - 256

Hi,

I got my wallet locked after a hackattack to Kilovolt server. Now the wallet shows it is locked and wont sync. I have encrypted the wallet if that means anything. Would someone know how to resolve this, please? Reinstall surely didnt help... tried contact vertcoin admin, no answer.

Notification that shows when wallet opened: "Warning: displayed transactions may not be correct! You may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to upgrade."

I would really appreciate the help.

Yes, it's more about WU as some people say, still, 1/3 the WU from what I was mining in scrypt. My concern is that only conservative settings will be stable in vertminer, compared to more aggressive settings in cgminer for scrypt.

I think he means that you need to consider the price of the coin. I'd get ~$4/day with my 7850 hashing 365kh/s scrypt. I can get $6-7/day mining Vert at 160kh/s. Even if it went down to 120kh/s its still $5/day and better than normal scrypt.

Exactly.  Cool
