Searching through this thread, I saw some fairly alarming posts from folks who said mining vertcoin may have caused some damage to their cards. Has anyone else experienced this?

Got that two days ago during trying to tune my 2x R9 290x with vertminer 0.5.3 linux 32-bit. One fan went mad and the card got really hot. Even cold reboot didn't fix it.

I finally switched off the whole thing for about 2 minutes and started with safe settings for normal scrypt on my cgminer-kalroth installation. That did the trick, everything back to normal. And vertminer works normal again after that, too. Problem didn't come back so far .

Nothing so far. A higher state of instability with an R9 270X is about the worst thing I have encountered. On the other hand, I installed a 270 last night and I have been able to get about 224 kh/s out of it, but I have to tweak my car arrangement in my rig because this card is running ab it too hot so i scaled it back to 201 kh/s for now. My 270x is only running around 180 kh/s right now.

I'm mining this over @ http://vtc.dedicatedpool.com with the latest cudaminer 2014.2.6  x64...all thats needed is the ( --algo=scrypt:2048 ) flag, omit your current warps setting & use auto tune.

My card is a GTX 650TI Im getting just about 95 kh/s  if you have the same card as me try ( K4x24 )..if not use auto tune.

GPU is OC'd n OV'd YMMV.

Hello guys! I do not know if anyone had the same problem but when i mine (any vert pool that is) my cgminerAleks.n3 shows 310 and 350 on each of my R9 280x whereas the pool shows 15-55kh/s
Can you help?
It appears to run ok and accepting..

First, check your HW errors. If you have a lot of errors, then the pool isn't receiving much work.

Then, just wait. The pool will catch up. It estimates your hashing power from the number of shares to submit.

Hi, Could you share your settings for 2xasus 280x?

I'm running two 7970 Matrix Platinums (same as Matrix 280X) at 365 kh/s each with same settings as regular scrypt @ 1050/1500MHz:

Code:
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1

vertminer.exe -u ComaWombat.1 -p x -o stratum+tcp://stratum.vertco.in:8080 -I 13 --thread-concurrency 8192 -g  2

Without the setx-commands the other card only got ~20kh/s.

Hi all,

Wanted to share my experience and config. Please give me feedback if you have anything that you think looks strange.

I'm currently getting 480KH/s per card with no hardware errors. Temp was around 86c the first 24 hours. But it has increased to 90-91c. I'm guessing the rooms general temperature is increasing (no open window and door closed). I have no chassi and no external fans atm, I plan to get the temp down after I modify the rig more and find a solution where I can have the window open.
The 290 are spaced with 2 pci slots in between. So it's only the "inner" card that gain to 90c. The "outer" card is stable around 75-77c.

It has been going on very stable, however, it crashed this night at 02:45 with nothing explained in the logs. First unannounced crash so far. (meaning when im not experimenting)

My gear:
2x Gigabyte R9 290 OC Windforce
1x 1000w
2x 4GB DDR3 1600
1x SSD 60GB (faster booting)
Win7x64sp1

My config:
gpu-engine 1070
gpu-memclock 1500
gpu-powertune 50
Intensity 20
temptarget 80
temp-overheat 95
temp-cutoff 98
tc 24550

I have been able to go up to 955KH/s stable on scrypt also with this config.

Oh and I'm going all in on VTC  Wink

update:

open door and cranked window and the temp is steady around 85/86c with 481KH/s per card  Smiley

Anyone mining with a 1GB 6950 ? I get 130Khash out of it with -I 12, TC 4096. if I go to 13 I get to about 180khash but with HW errors  Cry The only thing I saw so far that influenced my hashrate were TC and Intensity.

Great thread so far guys, keep it up!

I'm just getting started with scrypt-adaptive here, feels like scrypt all over again, doesn't it?  Grin

Here's my findings so far on a pair of Asus R7 260x's. Bonaire's a pain in the rear as usual. I'll post for my 7870LE's, 6950, 7950's, 7850's, and R9 290's as I figure them all out and optimize them. I thought I'd work on Bonaire first since there's not much info out there.

I'm mining with CGMinerAleks_NR3, as I can't get anything to work on these Bonaire cards with Vertminer 0.5.3.

Here's my .bat:

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o x -u x -p x --failover-only -o x -u x -p x --no-submit-stale --gpu-platform 0 -w 256 -v 1 -I 20 --lookup-gap 4 --gpu-threads 1 --gpu-fan 65 --thread-concurrency 14208 --gpu-engine 1200 --gpu-memclock 1800 --gpu-powertune 20

This nets me around 117khs per card. No HW errors. Strangely I got the best results with one thread and a lookup gap of 4. It looks like these cards can be pretty energy efficient if you have enough of them going, but I wouldn't run out and buy a bunch of them. They only pull about 250khs on normal scrypt.

If this helps anybody, feel free to tipmeh!!!  Cheesy

trendmicro detected spyware and deleted CPUMINER from my computer. This is what I downloaded:
http://kilovolt.co.uk/Vertcoin/cpuminer-vert-AleksN.zip

virustotal detected a potential virus and a google search of a similar file name shows it is harmful:

http://www.backgroundtask.eu/Systeemtaken/taakinfo/174005/axrrd.exe/

So this was another scamcoin with a virus embedded in the miner? I dont see anyone responding. Probably everyone on this thread is european so sleeping at the moment.

2. When any p2pool worker on any node finds a block, everyone on all the nodes gets paid their share
[/center]

So if each block takes 50 minutes, I spend 40 minutes mining in between two blocks, I get paid nothing?

What if I join the 49th minute? Do I get paint 1/50th x my hashrate?

What if I was part of the pool for days and leave on the 49th minute, I get nothing?

You should add pros and cons so people understand.

Azure Vertcoin Pool - DDOS reisistant P2Pool Node

http://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171/

To connect to this P2Pool node simply point your miner at:

URL: stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171
Username: Your vertcoin address
Password: Anything

Sample configuration

cgminer.exe --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://cryptopool.cloudapp.net:9171 -u VbNPoxNeiNg6Bj9RwjjS4GazDbKLgUqNDP -p X

Fast facts

1. P2Pool nodes are all part of one single, big, distributed pool
2. When any p2pool worker on any node finds a block, everyone on all the nodes gets paid their share
3. There is no pool wallet, and hence no payout threshold. Payments go directly to your wallet
4. The distributed nature of p2pool resists DDoS attacks

Decentralize the hashrate!

I upped my XFX DD 7950 (TDKC) to 1070/1500 from 1040/1495 (running -I 20 and TC of 21712) and I now hit about 315 kh/s. I tried J3TW4V3's settings and was greeted by lots of HW errors....

I even disabled the other 2 cards in the system and run just the XFX and they didn't go away.
Try J3TW4V3's settings again but reboot your miner completely before testing, worked wonders for me before!

Here they are with a small adjustment: (Made fan speed go up to 100%)
--scrypt-vert -o pool:port -u user -p pass --lookup-gap 2 -g 2 -I 13 -w 256 --thread-concurrency 6912 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 30-100 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-target 72 gpu-memclock 1500 --gpu-engine 1070

i often restart my miner within bamt but if you mean to restart bamt entirely, i can try that.
Exactly, that. Try rebooting the hardware completely, and see what the results are. Also, you could try deleting the .bin files so it builds new ones. You never know! Smiley

vertminer 0.5.3 on windows 8.1, one thread because the card only has 2 GB. ~160 KH/s ~160 WU. Computer has 8 GB ram. At going rate, ~1 coin per day.

Only 160 kh/s?? That's like 1/3 of what i get mining scrypt with my 270x. I can't justify putting it on VTC if it takes that big of a hit. My 7950's were almost exactly 50% of their scrypt hashrate with no messing around, 33% is just not going to be worth it. I was able to get as high as 223 kh/s on the 270x but HW errors eventually appeared.

You are not taking any hits, everyone is getting 50% hashrate. Doesnt matter what your hashrate is, its an arbitrary number anyway. It onyl matters when you compare it with other's hashrates.
