China will take over the world and there is nothing you can do about that. Even if USA nukes them like they did it to Japan, that won't change anything. They have nearly 1/7 population of the world and they manufacture almost everything we use daily.

If you try to compete them like "who will manufacture the cheaper stuff?", you will LOSE. As long as they know the know-how, they can drive anyone out of business.

I don't believe that China will take over the world. Though, I can't deny that China is the only country became open in the scheme of bitcoin compare the rest of the countries in the entire world. That's why they have a big percentage of patronizing bitcoin.
Remember how the USA and the Soviet Union control the world during the 1950s to the 1970s. If the China is strong enough, I believe they do have the power to control the world economy. As you can see, they have been involved in the Bitcoin world for many years and now they have the biggest mining pool

The Chinese miners only dominate because they get free electricity through deals with their govt. That isn't about the west "sitting on their ass", but about an uneven playing field due to hidden subsidies.

the chinese actually pay for electric.
what the chinese get is free ASICS.

for $2100 they get from retail customers, asic manufacturers can make upto 5 ASICS..
thus give 1 asic to a poor schuck that pays the retail $2100 for one rig.
keep 4 for themselves..

well the smart option they choose
for $2100 they make 3 rigs .. give one to the retail customer that handed them $2100,,
keep $840.. and run the 2 spare rigs themselves
and spend the $840 on electric and wages.

that $840 works out as electric for the 2 rigs for 11 months netting them a further 3btc in pure profit for running the 2 miners for those 11 months

as for the powerplants electric.
the world is trying to develop area's like mongolia.
so they set up a power plant. ready to cope with future housing, retail and industry..
but while there are no houses, shops and industry. the electric that leaves the power plant is not being used (pure waste)
but the power plant is still producing a minimum electric output as thats just how plants work.

so while the power plant is producing and wasting XXXmegawats. and the energy is wasted going down cables that dont plug into anything..
they might aswell let anyone that wants to use it,  use it. the power plant atleast gets paid for it then and its not a complete waste while they develop new towns and cities

So the lesson should be that sitting on your ass while others do something will leave you with less economic power. That is why China is the center of gravity in bitcoin. Not because they did something to you, but because they did something. Something you could have done but didn't.

Nope.  The Chinese government isn't helping miners with 'hidden subsidies', the government doesn't actually like bitcoin or miners.  However, it is easy to steal electricity in China and Chinese people have no morals at all.  So, burning up tons of coal and killing the little pink lungs of your neighbor's children to make a few trinkets in magic internet money doesn't really bother them.  It's a dog-eat-dog world, and let me tell you they do.  They even eat Raw Dog.  The fuckers are disgusting.

Everytime I hear eat, and dog in the same sentence, I get a txt mssg. RawDog... why you tease me?

Guys what do you think are the chances that China completely outlaws Bitcoin?
That would make bitcoin worth where it started at a few cents per coin.
Then we will need to wait who takes the reigns to build it up from scratch.
This is what Im afraid of. But I'd like to know what are the odds of that to happen.
Unfortunately one can only guess.
Why outlaw it when you can control it?
You mean they can start taxing it or something?

Sure, what reason would the state have not to do this?

I think that what is happening in China is instead very serious for the future of the bitcoin. It is not simple manipulation, but right to exist...
There you do not want so, unfortunately we saw in 2013 and this can give ideas a d other Governments.
They can't kill the bitcoin but they can slow it down and or severely depress the course While waiting they still find something

They are holding large number of bitcoin because they have largest mining far.. the news before we heard i think it is just fake or false news.. that they are just selling their bitcoin and try to control the value. i just heard that they are control the price value..
Bitcoin will never die since many people are still holding bitcoin even they are dump almost all of their bitcoin i think there are more people will willing to invest in bitcoin and hold more bitcoin instead of pushing down the price..

Decentralized Exchange and bye bye the control of the Chinese Government. A bityuan will be nothing more than a payment by credit card. They can block what they want, as they want to, go to use on the user accounts. Just as create as many bityuan they want.

Clearly failed economics classes.  How'd you do in your music lessons?  I'll bet you play a lovely piano.
Yep, and im really far away from blaming one nation for price movement.
Bitcoin is global, thats why its resistant to this kind of drama/movements in only one country.

Looks like a massive troll thread got revived... I'll take the bait.

Let's remember that the USA and China are in a massive economic war - the Chinese sell the USA cheap goods in exchange for almost worthless US Treasury debt. It's a trade deficit situation that generally makes China stronger and the USA weaker. The Chinese own billions of dollars worth of land, houses, corporations, and debt in the USA, because they don't want to exchange their USD profits for Yuan - the PBOC controls that exchange rate, and it's unfavorable to a USD holder. USA will be screwing the Chinese as much as they can for the near future (they may start a war with China to profit further). I suppose it's logical that the Chinese are screwing the USA economically any way they can.

Which brings us to Bitcoin. I believe that Chinese investment in Bitcoin could well be state-sponsored - it clearly undermines the USD and therefore aligns with Chinese government interests. Bitcoin could even compete with Forex markets in ten years, were it to get big enough...

May i know whats wrong if majority of bitcoin owners are Chinese? And what makes China the largest bitcoin owners?

there is nothing wrong to it and i think they have really give support to bitcoin in start when other people even ignore it and do not vig any preference to it. ans now if their number if more that any other country so it  is due to their hard work and i think we should also try to increase the number of bitcoin users in our country .

Since the early days of bitcoin china has been the biggest supporter for it, while other countries ignored it and ban it china realized that bitcoin is powerful and even if you ban people will still use it so that is why she invested in it and encouraged on using it , and miners get more profit mining it because electricity is cheaper there than any other country, that is why it is popular there.
This is so true. I think people forget how much support from China there was for Bitcoin.

Chinese really f*cked it up because they pumped and dumped and this can be seen at the price too!!

Well there is nothing new, every time the price is pumping there is no credit for them. And when the price is dumping all of the blames goes to them, poor Chinese people all the greediness comes from them. But don't you just worry about it, they just did something to save themselves because their own currency is falling.
yes that is right, and everyone is here to make money, so everyone has the right to  buy bitcoins or sell it according to their own choice and there is no banned to sell or buy bitcoin in a bulk then why are we blaming then when they are selling their own bitcoin and want to secure profit or at least prevent themselves from lost.

The PBOC did not say bitcoin is illegal, or expressly tell Chinese citizens they cannot buy bitcoin.
But clearly, China’s central bank is stepping up its public war on bitcoin Bitcoin is frequently thought to be an uncorrelated asset to the broader global market—that is, its trading price is not tied to stocks. Speculators see bitcoin as a “safe haven” investment for two scenarios: tightened capital controls, and general market uncertaint
