Andrew Haldane said one solution would be for the Bank of England to issue a state-backed digital currency based on bitcoin. Supporting this initiative would be a negative interest rate levied on paper currency relative to the digital currency, with these measures do you think there is more possibilities that sometime:

Paper money will be banned entirely?
How long do you think that happens?
would it work?
What security and privacy risks would it raise?
And how would public and privately issued monies interact?

definitely this will never happen,i love crypto and i want this virtual currency this is a big help for every user specially those relying in online transactions less effort and time, but due to respect in physical money the capacity and capability of fiat is indeed..as we knew that digital currency only works using internet and electric power, without those two this wont available,so still the paper money will do the job.

the future of paper money isn't very illustrious, cause it is very susceptible to damage by natural and man-made(e.g robbery or fake notes etc) causes.
So I think the future money will be digital, where the concept of bearing liabilities would be the main theme without any real exchange of material stuffs of any kind

Paper money will stay forever.
Why? Because its easier to make than coins.

they are also easy to counterfeit than bitcoin or electronic payment, i guess they will eventually fade away slowly or reduced for only small business in the future
but also contains falsified bitcoins, because criminals always have a way to get the benefits they want, and it is not impossible that a bitcoin will also be duplicated by irresponsible people.
I think paper money and digital coin have positive and negative effect and both of them are complete in every day because not all state use the digital coin for transaction Smiley

Millions of people who live on the brink of poverty still will be using paper money in the bearest future. Only people from developed countries can claim they don't need paper money at all, using credit cards.

For me, paper money has become useless. If I can, I always use a credit card. Paper money is a nuisance as it may take a lot of room in a pocket.
Unlike credit cards, paper money belongs to you personally, they can not be frozen, debited for debts, etc. Also they can not be tracked, this is their similarity with the cryptocurrency.
If paper money is banned before the legalization of cryptocurrencies, this will be a bad decision. People will not have any options for anonymous purchases and services.

I believe that it won't banned entirely. Even if we are facing the digital world today, paper money still have a place in our society. It won't apply to every situation given the fact that not everyone can access bitcoin; but let's say everyone knows bitcoin,
Not everyone will accept it. It is risky indeed in some points. Maybe banning will work if the problems were address in the future. However, it will be a very long time.

paper money will never die because it has its own interests, now many people use credit cards to make transactions and use debit cards. but paper money will always be used to make transactions such as buying staple food every day.

I don't think paper money will disappear and bitcoin will be in because many of us still think that paper money is more easy to use and we are more used to it.

I think the paper money will be very rare uses in the future the future is for crypto currency and bitcoin are using in the future. Bitcoin is highly famous for the online businesses and because of this the paper money will be used in villages and it will use for the uneducated community of the world bitcoin is really amazing in the present time bitcoin is using for online hiring and for the earning as well. Paper money is now using every where but in the future the people will use the digital money.

The future of paper money is great, I think it will remain so, because now they are all used, and will be used. Now it is very common.

Paper money has been used for several centuries, so they will not disappear anywhere. How will people pay if you turn off the electricity and the Internet? With a greater probability, the cryptocurrency will disappear, and not paper money.

I think the future of paper money will depends on the decision of government. I don't see that this will replace by crypto since will all know how volatile the price of cryto in the market. It's safe to use paper money and we all know how to use it rather than replace it with volatile cryptocurrency.
If crypto will just replace everything then I don't think the government will like that, they want a centralized system so they can
monitor the money circulation. If in the event they will decide to eliminate paper money in the circulation, that would really take time and it will be
replace by digital money that they created.

Paper money is the national currency and the government should always do everything that it was at a good level. Although in some countries because of corrupt officials to make money on the exchange rate differentials, thus deceiving its citizens.
A lot of time is needed to make the paper money disappear, society still believes in them.
Well, I think that will never disappear, it's not that it's only trusted but its widely use since it's very simple to use and the government can only create it.
With the government making it, the confidence is big for people who are using it, including me.

If it's something made by the government or by banks then you should definitly know that it won't be private and they will have control of everything just like the banks right , nothing much will change .
and for what comes to the Paper money I don't think it will dissapaear , maybe on some countries yes but worldwide ?definitly not because some countries don't even use Credit cards for their transactions so ... yep

I agree. The future of paper money is still intact as ever. Even if more and more people are inclining into having a moneyless transactions and society, it is still a safer, more reliable and more accepted way of transacting, paying services and good, and investing. As a currency, it still has the upper hand since it is backed by gold reserves of whichever country it originates from. Therefore, many people are still more inclined to keeping it as an asset. Like I have said before, I think instead of fiat vanishing due to the cryptocurrency, I think that it is more possible to have a market interplay or maybe competition between the two.
