un checking the app icon hash rate box while bfg miner is running shows the hash rate in white, the bar dissaperars.

re-checking the box has no change.

Just pushed version 1.3.13(1313) for the superstitious. Fixes an issue where the hash label read Mh when it should have been Gh, increases the font size on the dock label, and should reduce memory usage.

There is no temperature information now.

And hashrates do not show in the dock... OS X 10.8.4 stable

oh my mistake 10.8.5 was a typo, should have been 10.8.4...

fpga/asic miner crashed in the same way.  trying the update and then bfg in quiet mode.

and a pref cycle.

looks like it is taking up 25GB of VM

Hash Rate never shows up

as of June 4th 10.8.4 is no longer beta

I'll give the quiet output a try.

Sorry it said 10.8.5 up there so I thought you were running that

25gb vm is a bit much, although that in itself shouldn't be a problem, Xcode is using about that much on my machine right now and the total VM size is about the size of my startup disk. My MacMiner VM size has been a stable 3.33GB since your post before last so I'm starting to suspect there's a problem occurring when it runs out of RAM and starts pushing memory to disk. I'll look in to reducing memory usage as much as possible and Tuesday I'll be seeing someone who can give the code a good once over and see whether I've missed anything.

CGMiner connects to devices differently, I've not seen precisely how on a Mac yet as it was definitely broken till recently but I'm guessing from what I know it would only work with a USB connection not a USB Serial connection to the device (which would probably mean uninstalling the USB Serial driver but that won't affect the memory usage, bfg/cg are very similarly coded in). That cgminer shows 0Mh on the icon label makes me wonder whether somehow the label update is broken and bfgminer would show 0 if it couldn't find the device. But could you do me a favour please and toggle the show dock icon pref in preferences? It might work after that and if so I know where to fix it. FPGA/ASIC miner doesn't have display built in yet unfortunately but does show temperatures for USB miners.

Sorry for the hassle!

BFG miner shows status bar.

CGMiner cant find the device, shows status bar, and 0Mh/s

FPGA/ASIC miner doesn't show any status bar in icon window

trying FPGA/ASIC miner in quiet mode.

forgot about the other miner modes.

It might also be the log file, purging might be an option?

I ran into that one earlier on, The log length is limited to 5000 characters or the value set in preferences.

Couple of peculiar things here, I had something in mind which could have caused this problem if it were FPGA/ASIC miner window but not BFG Miner window. Also, is the hash rate reading on the dock never showing up for you? And is there any chance you could test this on a non-beta version of OS X? You could also enable quiet output in the miner options which could cause it to take a lot longer to crash. It's possible for bfgminer to keep mining after MacMiner freezes as it run as a separate process.

The only other cause I can guess off the top of my head is that it's running out of RAM so I'll try to optimise usage for the next version!

Mac OS 10.8.5 build 12E55
MacMiner 1.3.12
USB ASIC Sapphire.
in pool settings, put my bitcoin addy, and a stratum pool, with worker. didn't do anything on lite coin
in miner settings i used "-S /dev/cu.SLAB_USBtoUART" (no quotes)
and checked the box to disable gpu everything else un-touched.

First screen shot after config
2nd startup
3rd running a few minutes
4th running a little more.
5th includes mining history.
Mining history.. 24hrs ago running cgminer in bootcamp
first drop to 0 a reboot into mac
2nd drop to 0 Mac miner paused due to full hdd while I was afk
spike after 2nd drop is running with out mac miner active.
3rd drop is a reboot.

currently running from a fresh startup, in a fresh guest account (everything deleted after log out) only things opened were macminer, activity monitor, and safari.

going to sleep soon.

still filling up the drive.
I get a notification drive is full..
macminer is paused in red and hi-lighted for force quit
after force quit, logged out and back in, slowly getting back free space.
also seems to be mining still, light blinks (when hash submitted), and checking mining pool site is showing new shares a few seconds ago
I'll restart and get some screen shots

previous version seemed to fill my boot drive, and stop mining after about 12hrs, I have 30gb available.  space is freed after a restart of the computer.  could be something else, but I started up in a fresh guest account and it still happend.  ran cgminer in bootcamp no problems.  trying the latest version. will update tomorrow.  I'm using a usb block eruptor.

Hmm, I tried restarting a machine which had been running 1.3.10 since I released that version and there was no difference in available disk space, but I'm not USB mining. Which window are you using, the FPGA/ASIC window? And which version of Mac OS? Can you get info on the app after it's been running a few hours and report back the size please? If it is using a bunch of space it should all be inside MacMiner.app except a kb or two in the application support directory.

Thanks, would be nice if we had a good UI to stop our BFL miners if the temperature hits a certain point. and restart in say 5 mins

Most hardware is programmed with a safe limit above which it cuts off (and I'm hoping that's true of the BFL kit too, as I'm waiting on some, although at least it does have a lifetime warrantee) but I'll add a failsafe option for that in MacMiner! Thanks for the recommendation. Is anyone running this on 10.6 btw?

ack sorry made a mistake in the rush to fix it which caused the device to be added twice, please run check for updates in the MacMiner menu and get the latest version which should fix that for you! Thanks for reporting it.

I'll have my own jalapeno to test on once they get to October's pre-orders…

Only problem now is it is reporting GH/s as MH/s

Sorry looking at the code I'd left the ASIC miner view in a state of disarray following some testing (and not having any USB miners to hand)

Please use this version, with FPGA/ASIC miner from the view menu:
http://fabulouspanda.co.uk/macminer/downloads/MacMiner.app-1.3.12.zip

and set it up the same way as bfgminer, it should be able to show you temperature readings for multiple USB devices!

It's also possible the temperature will show up in the logs of the bfgminer view now, if you could let me know and if it does post what it outputs that would be much appreciated!
