But there is a lot of misconception in marketing as well, when a company advertises against the thoughts of many potential customers then their marketing is doomed and instead, they're leaning to the bad publicity for which there's still some exposure with it but in a bad manner. So, in the end, they'll still end up thinking that there's still marketing and exposure from within and it's up to the people as long as their marketing has been catchy and they can easily be remembered by the people that have seen, watched or heard their ad.
The point is that marketing is very important regardless of how the company does it to promote according to their wishes, regardless of the success or failure of marketing carried out by a company, but there are efforts to be made to run its business, namely marketing.
In my opinion, marketing in a business is something that must be done and a big impact on the success or failure of a business or marketing depends on how the marketing is done.
While we both agree with that but I am telling that there are some companies that does it wrongly. They're up for it to gain exposure in a negative way. So, even if they are getting the bad publicity as long as they have established to make people known of their name and brand, that's all what they think should be done for themselves.

I have seen this happen, and I guarantee you, Tesla will have problem in the future about this as well. They are saying they are building robots and such, but most of the time the market they are pandering to, and the market Elon Musk promotes to are different. He is now full on open republican that supports trump, but republicans like ford 150 and hummer and what not, they are not going for tesla electric cars, they don't give a damn about climate change, whereas the car was perfect for democrats, who care about climate, and who wants electric vehicles, but he told unnamely things about them.
This is bad marketing, and if you look at the stock, he had some deep crashes here and there on big days, so it's a risky move and may hurt him on the long run even worse.
That's one way of bad marketing but still, what I think they want to promote is the publicity that they're getting from it. So whoever Elon supports or the company itself, it doesn't matter to them because they know that they're still going to be bought by people based on the products that they have. They just want to have a reminder over the head of people about their name and products.
