I understand the 4h rule. But why 5 posts? Everybody (also a bot) can post some random messages...

It serves two-fold: weed out the spammers/BOTS, and also encourages discussion from new members. I like the system as it stands.

long time lurker, first time poster...  I appreciate this system. A lot of people want to hit the ground running without rtfm, then post crap cause they don't know what is what they just strut.... wtf.
Been mining for a while, joined just to get in on the auction action.

If anything it creates a very poor culture in the newbiew forums that later gets imported into the rest of the forum after the post and hour limitation. Just look at all the spam answers people give just to pad their total.

You're really not going to stop someone determined enough to screw up your forums with a stupid scheme like this.

The combination of 5 posts and 4 hours of time spent browsing is to weed out spambots and trolls.

If you don't like it, the rest of us (jr., full, sr., hero, mods) don't care.

We all like clean forums, don't we?

Yes, accept it took me 2.5 hours to find this post so I could make a post to help me on my way to being able to answer somebody. i new their was limitation, but could find it.

It's no big deal. Spam your 5 posts in the newbie area replying to hello posts.  Then go to hardware and read up on how to setup your own miner (researching the parts and costs) until you find out that the gpu cards are being obsoleted by ASIC miners that you're in too late to get in on. That'll take about 4 hours. (grin)

...
Has no one learned a damn thing about hackers, pirates and spammers online? Stupid setups like this will not "stop them" and I have not even gotten into how you treat everyone like those scum and waste our time. Its a DRM for Forums and I for one think its retarded.

it's more of a problem with the four hours' time.
You actually have to have the browser OPEN to the forum that long [so it appears].
