I don't try to hide my identity. I chose my name because I own the .com domain JetCash.com and it seemed apposite for a crypto forum.

"dewo" is a nickname since I was born. And "sat" is short for the second word of my middle name.

Maybe in this forum it could be an abbreviation of Decentralized_World_by_Sathoshi (dewo_sat)  Grin

Tbh, I don't want my current username because it was generated from random thoughts, is there any particular privilege to change username without waiting long or at least remove some characters? I saw some users managed to change theirs without waiting long, and some just waiting for an uncertain application.

Is it worth worrying about? My nickname was generated exactly the same, but I don't see any problem with that. I see that there are people who want to change their and there are even members who were able to convince the administrator to change their nickname several times, but apparently, they had big reasons for this. Being on the forum, we already recognize many by their nicknames, and it's fun to some extent, but we don't know their real names. But if I tell my friends about some forum members and pronounce their nicknames freely, my friends laugh heartily and say that the forum has become a small country with its own life and people's names.
On the other hand, we all want anonymity, and choosing the nicknames that we use on other resources is, in my opinion, very careless.

So, why do you chose that username?

I have been using my username many times by now. It comes from gaming, ever since I started playing Battlefield 1 when it came out, it became my absolute favourite shooter. It's so much better than the last two Battlefield games. By now I have more than 2000 hours in the game, and my most used weapon is still Gewehr 98. It's such a reliable and great rifle in the game that you don't need anything else. As I also like history I read a lot about the rifle, it's a Prussian made rifle 1898  that basically became the standard infantry rifle by many nations back in the day. And the manufacturer was called Mauser, which became my username. Today the company doesn't exist anymore on it's own, they are now part of Rheinmetall and hopefully don't mind I took their name  Cheesy.

Those who know Spanish might think that I chose the nickname for some elitist reason, because 'Don' means 'Mr.' or 'Sir'. Nothing could be further from the truth. Just that when I was little there was a 'Don Pedro' who had quite a positive influence on me, it was a time when formality and speaking to people using the 'don' was more common. So, when I registered on the forum I was thinking of new ways of earning money apart from my normal job. Hence the surname 'Dinero'.

I have been suffering from low density lipoprotein problems for the past few years.  The amount of LDL in my body is slightly increased than before.  So I put my username as LDL.

LDL = Low Density Lipoprotein

I can say that I'm not most creative person and when I have to create username for account somehwere, it's not easy task for me. LOL, I have no idea how I will have to choose name for me children Cheesy. When I signed up on Bitcointalk, I didn't wanted to use same username as I use somewhere else. Also, I didn't wanted to make username that would reveal too much personal information and my real name. So, I decided to signup as LTU_btc. LTU is short code of my country. Yeah, country of resisdence is personal information, but I don't consider it as very sensitive and it's not secret where I'm from. And btc, I think that I don't have to explain what it means...

Pretty simple — I chose my username simply because the 3 characters sort of relates to me in some way, but at the same time with it not giving away any details about my personal information. But really, I don't know why people on Bitcointalk sort of over-analyzes usernames; it's really not that important at all.

In general with my usernames outside of Bitcointalk though? I mostly just use random crap lol.
I want to be honest with you when I saw the username you used I actually remembered a Toyota Supra car which was actually being hunted in my country a few years ago lol.
But this is not an insult because indeed this is my opinion, don't be offended by it Grin

1. You chose it after your profession.
Ding ding ding!  As I was wracking my pea brain, trying to come up with a username I decided on either "A Pharmacist" or "The Pharmacist", and it was a close race.  Using "The" sounded egotistical to me, as if there wouldn't be another pharmacist on the forum.
In fact when I hear "The Pharmacist" seems more dominant and powerful than "A Pharmacist", at least this is what I have in mind and it is actually very good.

but I've gotten over it now and lesson is learnt - Indeed, people perish because they lack knowledge.
Good to know you've shaken off the hurt and moved on. Such is life. You win some, you lose some.

And now I want to change it, but Theymos is turning his hairy ear to my pleas for lenience.  Maybe if my name was (The)(cool)Cryptovator he might let me.  I'm not bitter.  I'm really not.
my guess is that Theymos finds the  username really interesting and that is why he would not give in to your request to change it
I think you do have a valid point in there on theymos' nonchalance towards TP's request for a name change. Again, coupled with the fact that a name change will completely take away anything that resembles the old name from it. If we look at the user in quote – (The)(cool)Cryptovator – we would discover that the said user's name change revolved around their old name, capitalization got changed to lowercase or the definite article "the" got dropped. How do we relate with "The Sceptical Chymist" being The Pharmacist 🤔

never have I ever seen such cool pseudonyms as on this forum. I am happy to be here and the names I've seen here are awesome, as the people behind. As for my username, is just a boring and not interesting one that I chose two decades ago. I was actually out of ideas so just used this one. I am here to find news about coins, i am just a bored day trader

When I first came to the forum one thing that marveled me was  the different usernames displaying. Then I asked my friend and he told me that, it is to hide identity.

And a thought came to me that even though it is to hide identity and they chose the name, there must be a reason of selecting that username.

So, why do you chose that username?

many people make their account names a pseudonym - just for fun - imaginary figure - or as a reminder of something important.

the name of the account that I currently use is the name of my second child (a girl) (even my daughter's name is a combination of my name and that of my partner).

The username that I chose to use when registering on this forum is a name that comes from a fictional novel called ARKHYTIREMA but there are also those who think that the novel is a true historical story. The name BRINIRHA has a long history of the name of an important figure from the LEMURIAN Nation (the ancestor of the Sundanese tribe in Indonesia).

I use the name BRINIRHA because I like this fictional character.
because BRINIRHA is a kind mother who has given birth to a very strong and kind child named ARKHYTIREMA.

the word BRINIRHA is also derived from the ZHUNNDA language. And ZHUNNDA is language of the LEMURIAN NATION (IZLAN LEMURIA); The ORKADAR Cluster (PLANET LEMURIA). (that's what it says in the novel)

I took this name because I wanted to be a kind and loving person and also strong like a fictional character named BRINIRHA.

Keeping that stage name became impossible for me since if i ever manage to become popular with my music, people will think i got the idea of the name from the music company and the music company might even sue me for maybe copyright infringement.
A simple registration with CAC (Corporate Affairs Commission) would've secured the name for you and even placed you in a better position of bargain that would've fetched you millions if you decided to give up your username for that new company. Anyway, I hope you learnt your lesson on how to secure patent for any stuff you need to keep, going forward.
You are the first person telling me this, and indeed, i learnt in a hard way, The truth of the matter is that I was totally ignorant, back then at the time, i knew nothing about CAC (cooperate affairs commission), the only CAC i knew then was a white garment church there in my area.
And when Fivestar music label came out, I actually didn't feel bad, because i lacked knowledge of what I have lost, it was until 2015 when a friend opened my eyes to the existence of CAC and how I should have registered the name if i cherished it as much, and maybe sell it if any big business showed interest in the name and is ready to pay in millions, he said i would have sold the name to the current Fivestar Music if there weren't willing to change to something else... The was when i started feeling bad about the whole thing, but I've gotten over it now and lesson is learnt - Indeed, people perish because they lack knowledge.

Yeah, dont be bitter, The Pharmacist sounds and feels really cool, i personally love it, and my guess is that Theymos finds the  username really interesting and that is why he would not give in to your request to change it, i mean if i was him(Theymos), i likely may also not allow you to change it Wink Wink

That's an ouch moment there! How the tables turned and the story of how the hunter became the hunted. It's really sad when things we ought to have done right turn to hurt us in future. You do really want to change it? I think The Pharmacist sounds better than Chymist, frankly.
Yes.  You're probably just too used to seeing my username to picture it being any different, and I'd probably think the same thing if the roles were reversed.  I never think of pharmacist and chemist as being synonymous, because in the US they're not.  The Sceptical Chymist was a great piece of old science from Robert Boyle, published in 1661, and chymist in that sense doesn't refer to someone who works in a pharmacy.  I guess that's how they spelled chemist back then, and it's funny to think of a present-day college student saying "Goddamn it, I flunked organic chymistry!!" (a not uncommon utterance for many who take it).

not all of them use fake names, there are also those who use real names, but the character of the word and the writing is slightly different.

And the reason why so many people use pseudonyms? maybe because of the security of their privacy in the real world,
because not a few people are afraid to give their original data,
and that is a legitimate freedom in my opinion.
