I have seen a similar post in reputation where it was advised not to judge a user by their choices of username. I seriously disagreed on that opinion, I was of the opinion that usernames are not chosen randomly, there must be a reason for choosing a particular username, unless for bounty hunter account farmers.
Though LoyceV gave me reasons to agree that usernames might have no connection to the user's mindset to the forum.

People chose usernames for themselves depending on their mindset to the forum or their particular mood when signing up in the forum.
Don't underestimate the power of desperation, when all the good names are taken already.

Why I brought this matter is that there was a good poster who recently got alot of red tags by name AnotherAlt. It appears that this user had more than two accounts, so when he was creating the 3rd or the 4th, he possibly ran out of ideas and decided to use "AnotherAlt ", which in a real life was certainly another alt Grin

Yeah, every username i've come up in any website is about my likings in any anime series or movies nothing personal related. This one is related to one piece movie, every one piece fan should know about it, so i dont need to explain or give details about it

When I first came to the forum one thing that marveled me was  the different usernames displaying. Then I asked my friend and he told me that, it is to hide identity.

And a thought came to me that even though it is to hide identity and they chose the name, there must be a reason of selecting that username.

So, why do you chose that username?
LoL, its a funny question i must say, but maybe interesting some how...
My username "Fivestar" was a name i choosed during my music career days, yeah, i was into music back then and that was when i chosed "Fivestar" as my stage name knowing that five stars is the highest rating a service or person can get when the service or person performs as well as expected, i thought myself good enough for that rating and that was how the name "Fivestar" stock .

Unfortunately, after over three years without making any headways in my music, a new music company( a recording label ) was launched with the name FiveStar Music, the company owners were billionaires and Fivestar music didnt take time to become very popular due to heavy promotion and the company signing already popular musicians into the label.

Keeping that stage name became impossible for me since if i ever manage to become popular with my music, people will think i got the idea of the name from the music company and the music company might even sue me for maybe copyright infringement.
I later gave up doing music but still wanted to keep my stage name since it one i personally love, but now, i wanted it to look a bit different from the actual already popular music company, that was how i decided to add the "4ever" which turned it to "Fivestar4ever", i later wanted to add something that will resemble a surname, i searched for something that would have good meaning but very short since "Fivestar4ever" was already long enough, that was when the idea of "MVP" ( which simply means Most Valuable Personnel) came in and i decided to stick it in..

This was how "Fivestar4everMVP" came about, the username was not born out of trying to hide my identity, ive had this name way long before i joined this forum, i used this same username on almost all my social account like
Facebook
Twitter
Telegram
Instagram
etc.

Actually, my name served as the inspiration for my username decision. It's merely a shortened version of my full name, which I've gone by since high school. There is nothing more to the suffix tied to it; it is simply a number that I frequently use in the majority of my accounts.

Anyway, blah blah blah.  I picked my name because....just take a guess.
Make it two guesses and I will have a gander –
                 1. You chose it after your profession.
                 2. You picked it, unrelated to what
you're but, as one who could make
                      prescriptions for the malady that
was in the forum of shitposts and
                      scams when you joined.

Speaking of AOL, I remembered those early days of spams that were mainly pharmaceutical, such as enlargement pills. Now it's about those lost princes and business proposals.

You could always drop the 50 BTC into his account if you really want a change that badly Grin

I've always associated numbers on usernames to believe those numbers mean something special to the users. Sometimes I believe it could be the user's date of birth, wedding date, date they got something uplifting, etc.
I remember the early days of using e-mail and having usernames on crap like AOL chat rooms (which I was a fan of back in the day nevertheless).  My thought is that if you're joining a site like this one where your screen name is basically your face, you really ought to put some thought into creating one that's memorable and perhaps clever.

That's if you care about the forum or any other website or service where you need a username.  When I see really, really generic usernames that look like every other one here, I immediately get the impression that that member doesn't really want to be here to contribute and interact with others on a personal level.  Look at some of the more famous members, the ones with big personalities who've perhaps made friends here or have had feuds or whatever: a lot of them have pretty un-generic handles.  Vod, OgNasty, TECSHARE, Phinneas Gage, TMAN, Lauda all fit that category.

Anyway, blah blah blah.  I picked my name because....just take a guess.

And now I want to change it, but Theymos is turning his hairy ear to my pleas for lenience.  Maybe if my name was (The)(cool)Cryptovator he might let me.  I'm not bitter.  I'm really not.

Thus, I came up with Ultegra134. The numbers don't represent anything but were mostly used when my desired username was taken.
I've always associated numbers on usernames to believe those numbers mean something special to the users. Sometimes I believe it could be the user's date of birth, wedding date, date they got something uplifting, etc. Yours is an exception from what I've seen as you said the numbers on your moniker were randomly chosen and didn't represent anything to you. Look at what I meant below 👇

The second part of my username, 91, refers to the year 1991, which has a special meaning in my life, and no, it is not the year of my birth, as many think.
It was a year that was a big turning point in my life.

Interesting question.
I chose the first part of my username, Daniel, because it is similar to my real name and because of the true, original meaning of that name, which means "God is my judge" in Hebrew.
The second part of my username, 91, refers to the year 1991, which has a special meaning in my life, and no, it is not the year of my birth, as many think.
It was a year that was a big turning point in my life.
For now, that's all about the meaning of my username and why I chose it  Grin

I don't think i have a reason for choosing my username. After i got introduced to the forum i had to type in a username i will always remember. The forum was my first time of seeing anonymous online community where real identities are hidden so i made a choice from what i could relate with. No special reason behind my username

So many registered members here, when registering might want to use their real name or nickname as their user's name but you will found out that if your name is an English or common name,it will have been chosen by the member who registered before you.

In such case, you will be confused first, you have to think of another name or your native name or a name which you have come across and you love the name to be your username. Everybody have a reason for this.

As for me when I was registering, I chose Frank, which is my name because its a popular name,I was told it has been chosen by another user. I thought for awhile and decided to use a name I know can't be used by anyone which is Frankola, after writing it down something told me what if this name has already been used by another user,I decided to add LA to make it double which is my username Frankolala.

I got the name in school instead of Franko which is normal a close friend that I met new do call me Frankola.

I don't have the fancy reasons others have, such as to preserve anonymity or because I was a cryptocurrency trader. I used to be a competitive cyclist when I was a teenager and had recently purchased a Shimano Ultegra groupset for my bicycle. Thus, I came up with Ultegra134. The numbers don't represent anything but were mostly used when my desired username was taken. This is the only forum I've used so far and will probably stay that way. I guess it represents the start of my cryptocurrency era and the start of competitive cycling.

A little boring since it doesn't have much to do with cryptocurrencies, isn't it?

For me, BITCOIN4X is something very special because bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency I heard of before signing up for this account. I have no other reason than that bitcoin was my first investment in crypto, and I absolutely love to spell this name with BITCOIN FOUR X.

The most special thing is, I managed to rank up to Legendary after being down due to the new requirements for newbie when I was Junior member. I never forgot about it, and now I'm in Legendary after 4 years.

Username in other forums and other social media's is still the username we have here. With or without privacy in mind, everyone must have a unique username. Two people must not have the same username but two people can have the same name. I didn't bother myself so much by choosing my username because it is just a dialect name divided into two, one part the starting part is dialect while the other is a universal name. The number at the end means when I began to appreciate the knowledge of bitcoin.

Using moniker (username) isn't excluded to this forum alone. It's the norm when it comes to social media. People want to keep their privacy offline and enjoy the highest level of freedom of expression that ordinarily eludes them in real life.

For me, I had to make my username special at the time I was picking it. My moniker isn't just a  name out of the blues. It was specifically picked to reflect something close in my life at the time I did.

By the way, what is the meaning of the word "skarais"? I never found that word in my dictionary
Hahaha, do you really want to know? But I guess I should keep that privacy a little bit, mate.
Let you know, skarais is meaningless in the dictionary, but there are many stories about that choice of name that I don't want to talk about right now.
This username was a spontaneous choice, but behind it all there is a story I don't want to remember. Just forget it.

By the way, I'd also like to have a real name for my username, but since my chances of changing it are bit, so skarais will remain.

And a thought came to me that even though it is to hide identity and they chose the name, there must be a reason of selecting that username.
So, why do you chose that username?
Not all our usernames are to conceal identity, some users on forum are answering their real names, not their complete names, but their real names. My username is an extract from my business name. It is a name that has stuck over the years from being called by most of my customers who I have delivered satisfactory service to. When I joined this forum, I couldn't think of any other username to use.

I've requested a username change, but it probably hasn't been approved by the admin for years since then. But since then, I started to be proud about this username because the past shouldn't let me down for a long. Lol
did you not try again for now? What I know about name changes that can be immediately accepted are forum donors, staff, VIP members and some members who do have trust and important contributions to the forum.

and regarding the selection of usernames on this forum I did use my real name, because at that time the name "taufik" was already available and had to add a few characters so I spontaneously used the number 123.
The names of senior forum members are also unique, they may have certain reasons for using that name, and like you who spontaneously created a username until now, it has become your unique identity.
By the way, what is the meaning of the word "skarais"? I never found that word in my dictionary

Look at the names of the top members, they have a unique name and it becomes a permanent identity that everyone knows.

I choose my username based on a film I watched about an 18years old smart boy and very hard working. He was able to take care of himself by working part-time and making sure he finished his college education despite he has no parents.
When I first saw this topic I smile because it's a funny question but there's a point to it though.
