Honestly, I feel that something's amiss. Like you've alluded to, it's most likely his son who now has control of Hal's user account. For what reason, don't know. It is possible that Hal Jr. had the password all this time, with just recently felt it prudent to change the password in adverting some other from taking control of the account thanks to this forum being compromised more than once in the past.
