Chimaev needs to be careful, if the rumours are true he's the one that caused the altercation behind the scenes, and then to miss weight, and just smile shaking it off isn't a good look. I'm not saying be a company man (although that has proven to be a good tactic for many fighters), but seriously show some respect.

Honestly, if you miss weight by that much it should be an automatic forfeit. So, not just cancelling the fight, but forfeiting it. Since the other person has put in the work, yet you missed by that amount. That's ridiculous. I'm not sure if he's underestimating this bout, or he just wants to make quick work of Diaz by knocking him out, and the added weight would help with that.

What's the odds on Chimaev gassing, and Diaz actually having a chance through volume? I'd love to see that honestly. Chimaev goes all out in the first round, fails to finish Diaz, and then Diaz just out points him or potentially even finishes him. It would be the ultimate finger from Diaz. People underestimating him saying he's going to get crushed, obviously him, and Dana not seeing eye to eye any more, and Chimaev being the fighter that Dana is putting the most stock into. It would almost be poetic if it played out like that.

From the internet - "if anyone at that brawl would understand what Till was saying, the fight would start much faster and be much bigger and bloody" Cheesy Seriously, who understands 100% of what Till is saying? He and Paddy should visit same guy that improved Michael Bisping pronunciation. Bisping talked the same, but now he is UFC commentator.

Cut them some slack, they're both from Liverpool  Smiley
I don't think anyone from GB has problems understanding them.

Followers of this sport wouldn't be convince Nate will win. Regardless of Nates strong chin, he will be tagged or choked and will probably just in the first round.

Why Nate and Holland brought so many buddies for this conference seem odd. There must have been a plan but its good that they were stopped. If the riot broke, we wont be seeing good fights if the whole ufc279 is cancelled.

There were  articles and youtube videos saying Holland was kicked by Khamzat, no footage Ive seen so far. Is there?

If the fight goes longer and Nate has a chance to do some proper boxing he'll do a lot of damage because of his fast jabs and long reach. We'll see how it goes but I'd put my money on him.

Not sure about the Holland fight, depends. However, I'm liking the Holland pick. Still undecided on the Li Jingliang fight, and I think Khamzat tries to smash the living crap out of Diaz, and therefore it'll either be a knockout, or a decision in my opinion. Obviously, Diaz has a great chin so it could be interesting to see how that goes down.
Holland is unpredictable and anything can happen in this fight, but most of my picks for this event are more risky than usual.
With all the mess happening behind the scenes, press conference getting canceled, fighters missed weight including Khamzat Chimaev, this really became a shitshow.

Wow! Can't believe Hamzat Chimaev missed weight by 8.5 pounds.
He got himself in trouble right before the press conference while it was going to start and they cancelled it completely due to an altercation with Holland.
It's so silly from him making all the fuss behind scenes and now missing weight, and I can't take him seriously for championship belt in his category.
Someone needs to humble this guy with a KO, but I don't think this someone will be Nate Diaz.

Khamzat Chimaev VS Nate Diaz
Israel Adesanya predicted Nate to win this fight via sub or KO Cheesy In his YouTube vid, he says that he is not confident that Khamzat has tank to fight all 5 rounds. And as Nate has a iron chin and likes to increase fight tempo, Khamzat will out of fuel by round 4 or 5, and there Nate will finish him.
It just might happen cause Hazmat does not look like he is taking this fight seriously.
The last fight with Burns he almost lost and it went the full 5 rounds.

Uh oh.  I'm watching the Live Weigh In show right now and I've been hearing from Cormier and the rest of the guys that some word is going around that Chimaev is having a little bit of a problem in losing the last pound or half pound of weight to make 170.  If that's true the it could be a problem as there's a possibility that he'll be huffing and puffing by the third.  Just like what happened in his match vs Burns.  The thing is Burns slowed down too...  Diaz won't.  :/

Anyway can't wait for the face offs at the ceremonial weigh ins.

Edit:  Chim is off by a lot.  He weighed in at 178.5 lbs.  That's not a good look imo.

Unfortunately, not all of Israel Adesanya's predictions are likely to happen, the guy can make mistakes but I am not saying that I can not done mistakes aswell, but there is a high probability that Khamzat Chimaev can will this, but I am not taking out the consideration that Nate Diaz could make an upset aswell, and because of that Dana White will be furious about it, and it is a risk if you bet for Diaz, but because of the odd betting for Nate Diaz will surely make you millions, but for this, I am not recommending betting that is why I am staying away from betting for Khamzat Chimaev,

I follow Israel Adesenya's predictions on social media. In this match, he made a choice that could be a bit extremely low probability.. When you look at it, Khamzat is a fighter with no five-round experience. Nate Diaz, on the other hand, is a real fighter and has been in the UFC for years if Khamzat can't finish or TKO, until the 4th round, everything turns in Nate Diaz's favor because it's so hard to tire and he goes to the end. But I don't think that will happen, Khamzat will smaash Nate with his pure strength.

What if Khamzat Chimaev can withstand the 5 round fight, we can never be sure this could be his 1st but he is training for this fight, in the Gilbert Burns fight, he withstands all 3 rounds, for me I think he already prepared for it, for me Khamzat Chimaev will surely win this,

And your picks look good but I'm a bit surprised with the leans on Ferguson itt.  I mean sure he looks better physically with the match vs Li up a weight class at 170 but Li is decent.  I don't think this match up is the right one for Ferguson as his first fight at 170.  But that's just me.  Could be wrong.
It's a very slight lean. Enough for me to put it into my predictions though. It's whether or not Li can keep up with the pace of Ferguson, and whether Ferguson doesn't take too many shots...but that's usually not the case with him.

By the way this card is low key a banger. I think we'll see quite a wars this event. Ferguson one I'm hoping will be a war rather than a one sided beat down.

After football being cancelled this weekend, I'm just glad we've got some UFC. Here's my predictions for this weekend's event:

Khamzat Chimaev
Tony Ferguson
Daniel Rodriguez
Irene Aldana
Johnny Walker
Hakeem Dawodu
Jailton Almeida
Denis Tiuliulin
Chris Barnett
Norma Dumont
Heili Alateng
Melissa Martinez
Yohan Lainesse

Some close fights. Coin toss between some of them. My betting slip will probably look something like this:

Khamzat Chimaev
Hakeem Dawodu via decision
Irene Aldana via decision
Johnny Walker
Norma Dumont via decision
Melissa Martinez

That's offering 70.19 from my bookie. I'm feeling quite confident actually. Johnny Walker probably being my least confident pick out of them.

Yup, RIP.  But the English government did mention that the EPL weren't under any obligation to postpone the games.  But oh well..  At least we still have F1 Italian GP and the UFC.

Anyway..  With all the excitement and the drama going on, watch the weigh ins.  Both the live weigh in and the ceremonial weigh in.

UFC 279:  Ceremonial Weigh In

Live weigh in show will be on in around an hour or so.  Ceremonial weigh ins in 8 hours.  Enjoy...

Like I said, it might be included in your ticket or it might be a open conference. I don't know. It probably won't be rescheduled this close to the fights, fighters have to kick into gear, and get in the right head space. I imagine they'll interview them individually if it was a massive problem back stage, which it does sound like a few fists were thrown.

We've had altercations before on stage, and backstage, but this is one of the only times I remember it getting cancelled so there must have been a few hands thrown. That would be my guess anyway. Let's just hope none of the fights get cancelled on the back of the altercations.
Recently I read a tweet on twitter that the weigh-in will be tomorrow, so still have a chance to meet for the last moment before the fight, although not for the press conference but I can imagine there will be clashes when these two meet face to face, maybe Dana will add security guard to prevent anything untoward from happening, Lol.

So far, I don't know the facts in the backstage so it will be an awesome video review during the fight, the audience response will be very enthusiastic about this week's fight because they think the fighters have personal grudges to settle during the fight in the octagon.

Altercation started with Kevin Holland and Khamzat Chimaev and that is being brewing in social media for a while and with the Paulo Costa and Khamzat Chimaev incident Kevin Holland was active in his social media handles mocking Khamzat as a fake gangster and on top of that Khamzat is here with his entire gym and Nate Diaz as usual is with his entire gang and someone from the Diaz camp threw something in their direction which forced Dana to cancel the press conference.

So unfortunately the UFC conference was canceled due to conditions not allowing it to proceed due to the incident happening backstage, despite the difficult situation but I appreciate it if Dana White finally canceled it even though she revealed the incident first occurred at a press conference, but will it be rescheduled because the fight period is only 3 days from now?

I dont think it would be rescheduled, because it is all about fights, not talking. Talking was necessary to create extra drama, but this time UFC 279 already got more than enough attention. Besides, there will be weigh-ins also, and they are going to be hot.

I start to notice that current UFC starts to turn into some sort of gang wars. Where are sports and competition? Previously fighter that about to have a fight walk everywhere with his coach, corner guys, maybe a doctor. Now its a fighter and his escort. In todays case - Nate Diaz has about 60 guys with him, Holland has a small gang, about 30 guys (probably bearded) with Chimaev.

GWFC aka Gang Wars Fighting Championship? How come athletes cant walk peacefully, but require a retinue of thugs? Why there are more mix martial arts on backstage of event, then in octagon now?

My picks for the UFC 279: Chimaev vs. Diaz but after my picks for that backstage Scuffle that started with Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland and a bunch of unknown teams and MMA fighters that turned into a war, that led Dana White to cancel the press conference it was truly chaos that Dana White can't explain the magnitude of what is happening backstage, so White has said that the next press conference will definitely have more security,

Khamzat Chimaev VS Nate Diaz

The Stake Odds for this fight are 1.09 for Chimaev and 8.00 for Diaz, It seems I am staying away from betting for this fight, but for my prediction, there are many that are saying that this fight will go smoothly to Khamzat Chimaev, which is for me I truly believe that may happen, and that is why I would focus on what Nate Diaz can do in order to win against Khamzat Chimaev, for me he can wager a bloody path over if he wants to wins over tChimaev, I think Khamzat will surely Dominate the striking for sure, but takedowns can be utilized by Diaz, if Chimaev would get on his back Nate could get into the Kimura lock to Solidly defend those takedowns, Nate Diaz has expertise as well with BJJ, I think he can utilize this to win the fight but that power of Khamzat is really something, but if Diaz could null that strength of Chimaev, then he can win this, but for me, Khamzat Chimaev, will win this,

Jingliang Li VS Tony Ferguson

The stake odds for this fight are 3.40 for Ferguson while 1.34 for JingLiang, Tony Ferguson has a calculated striking that Jingliang could have a problem with, but Li has a tendency when getting pulverized on the stand-up he would go with the takedowns I think he have learned a lot from the Khamzat Chimaev fight and become a fan of Khamzat because of that, so maybe a quick pointer on Khamzat Chimaev will surely help him into this fight, and for me, I think Tony Ferguson doesn't have a great chin anyone and a surprise kick can surely end him easily, so I will go with Jingliang Li,

Johnny Walker VS Ion Cutelaba

The stake odds for this fight are 2.70 for Walker while 1.49 for Cutelaba, Last fight for Cutelaba was against Ryan Spann and it was not really great for Cutelaba I thought he is winning but that guillotine choke was truly remarkable and a controversial stoppage against Magomed Ankalaev, for this fight Ion Cutelaba is truly remarkable but for me, I like Jhonny Walker because I love his antics I think if he can utilize those feints with the striking more gracefully and on time I think he can win against Cutelaba, last fight that I have seen was more on Feinting than hitting because he can surely go with his corners plan, but if he can capitalize those feint on his striking then he can surely win this,

You can check ticket sales on the official website https://www.ufc.com/tickets, only available for fight tickets for the regular class and VIP experience. I don't know if tickets for the UFC conference are also on sale elsewhere or only available to journalists, but I've seen in previous press conferences that a lot of spectators fill the seats. Free for journalists, but I'm actually not sure about the general public. I feel like Dana would want to make as much money as possible, but I've never seen weigh in tickets for sale. It might be included with your ticket? I'm not entirely sure. I've yet to be to a UFC event, which I'm hoping to change either next year or the year after.

I'll definitely be watching any clips of went down...I haven't been as interested in drama since early Ultimate Fighter days Tongue.

Are these pre-fight press conference and weigh-ins free or people buy tickets for that ?

This morning I've seen a video on Instagram of Tony Ferguson entering press conference, and saw that there were about 50 people there, fans and reporters, and the major part of conference room was empty. I've seen such events usually are crowded. And the UFC 279 has cool card. I was amazed of empty conference. Turns out there was a situation between fighters. Here is a good video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aey4gJY4fJs. Dana seems lost. Never seen him like this. As he was totally not ready for such situation and dont know what to do.
