Bad Dana. The UFC already earned millions of dollars from Nate Diaz. Nate is already 37 and is inactive for a year. This match is everything wrong for Nate. I won't be also surprised if this ends in round 1 too.
Nothing Nate can do but go along with it and accept. If he can upset this fight, Dana will be more upset for beating his new favorite pet.
Lol. That's actually a misconception among people who don't know any better cos here's the thing, Dana can't force any fighter to agree with a match up if they don't like it. He can't even force a fighter to fight if the fighter doesn't want to. Diaz agreed to the match up and signed the contract. The decision is in Diaz's hands. But what's sketchy about this whole thing is the proposal and how it came to be. But if Diaz wanted this match up then it's all on him.
Here's the weigh in show in case you guys want to take a look before making your bets.
UFC 277: Live Weigh In Showhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLwOGLnUx1kYep I must have misunderstood it. This time even if Diaz is matched to someone lesser he can say no. Its however going to be shameful still now that Dana have an ax to grind. Saying no will be a disaster for him. And Diaz has to make money, he has to accept or no opportunity once again. He can say no yet he can't be fighting Jake Paul due to the contract. If he wins against Khamzat, he will be matched to someone up a higher level next time like Usman til he finds himself in the bloodiest fight of his career.
I'd be rooting for Pena, Moreno and Derick.
^ A fighter saying no to a match up is nothing new in the UFC. Jon Jones did it, Jorge Masvidal did it, the Diaz brothers are known to do it. It's just business.
And it's not true that Nate Diaz won't have another opportunity if he doesn't accept the match up with Chimaev. The UFC is obligated to offer three fights per year, or how many fights left in his contract, to each fighter or else the UFC pays the fighter for a missed obligation. What Nate Diaz is actually missing out on is the trilogy vs Conor McGregor. He should have waited instead of signing up for Chimaev.
