8 cm is not a huge difference  Grin He is even 2kg heavier - does is makes him slower also ?  Grin Just kidding.
If he is not really comfortable to 114 kg. as his weight then I can say yes. Fighters cannot feel that 2 kg. in the early rounds but they might suffer when the late rounds come. Such factor could lead to decrease in cardio, lowered guards and decrease in power Wink.

Have you already heard that Gustaffsson will now climb up to HW division? And his first opponent would be the former HW champion Fabricion Erdum, pretty interesting isn't it? Article

I hope this news encourages Bones to do the same thing for real.

Yup..  I'm leaning Werdum for that one.  Sure Werdum is old but Gus isn't really the fighter he once was.

Edit:  And Gus is moving up to Werdum's turf.

Here are a couple of tapes to watch before making your bets for the main event.

Excessive in everything is not good all the time Grin. He is too tall IMO which makes him move slower thus having slower reflexes as well. With this height disadvantage (how ironic lol), he is wretched from take down and dirty boxing attempts of his opponents. That's why I'm also in favor of Blaydes.
There is height difference but i does not matter but reach difference would matter but Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov have the same reach and that is what is important, the fighters with wrestling background will have an advantage and Blaydes is a knockout fighter not like Fabricio Werdum who rely on his ground game and stand up is not adjust for that situation.

Alexander Gustafsson had his time and if you look at the heavyweight division the chances of becoming a champion is a real possibility with the lack of many world class fighters, if you look beyond the top ten then there is not much of a name and a couple of good fights could land a title bout.

Brett Okamoto reported that Calvin Kattar vs. Dan Ige will headline UFC Fight Night on July 15 at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi!
https://twitter.com/bokamotoESPN/status/1272737662424637440

I wasn't so impressed with Ige at his last match even tho he won.  I know I know...  It was against a Barboza that moved down.  But still.  A couple of his bouts winning out of split decisions now.

Anyway, let's support the Rent Free MMA channel at YT.  Subscribe, up vote, etc etc..  They breakdown the fights well and could help you win a little something something too.  Wink  They've been making good picks except for 251.  But overall, they've been winning.

In this card there is Curtis Blaydes and Alexander Volkov is a good stylistic match up and i do not see Volkov winning this fight because he always have trouble against fighters who are good at wrestling and Curtis Blaydes is an elite level wrestler and he have knockout power in his hands and a great chin.

Thanks god both have lots of KO in their record, hope to see a real brawl between them. I think Blaydes gonna win on Saturday, due to he had faced more experienced opponents and learned a lot from these matches. Cant explain why, but Blaydes, imho, looks more hungry for the win than Volkov. Volkov is more "hard worker" (if that can be said). He steps in the octagon, "works" against other fighter and boom - KO. Blaydes is different - he is just likes to fight.

Blaydes started competing from very beginning. Starting with wrestling, amateur MMA, then turned professional.
Volkov started to train MMA - because he was interested to try himself in MMA. In early life he studied "Dynamics and flight control of rockets and spacecraft" in university. He is different Smiley

More and more of them in every event these days, it normally just one match in the past years. I'm uninterested to bet with them unless they have proven to be masculine like Nunes or that Chinese Chang.

Nunes created a legendary career when she worked on her cardio and in her early days she used to gas out after the second round and when she changed that she was a completely different fighter.

Clay Guida is still alive. HE isn't just always the wild card but also the wildest fighter. Strong chin but this guy doesn't seem to look at his opponent when fighting. I've seen him since 2008 if I remember, rarely win but shows an entertaining fight.
Clay Guida is a brawler and he has a good chin but age is slowing him down and if he is against a good striker his chin might give away because of the amount of damage he took in his career.

Now that this event is over we can move on to Jun 20th UFC on ESPN: Blaydes vs. Volkov

Another girls out night  Grin 4/12 fights are women.

Interested to see Clay Guida vs Bobby Green fight. Clay has been in UFC and MMA for such a long time, so I thought he had already retired. Checked his profile, and he is only 38 years old. There is so much more time for him to fight Cheesy

Maybe he is so called "gate keeper" of his division? Take a look on his record, win/lose/win/lose/win/etc. He seems like a fighter to fill the card. And look looks interesting to spectators. He is like a wild man from the cave. I think these are the reasons why Dana keep him.
Clay Guida is always a wild card and he could have retired but he is always a tough fight for anyone and he has wins over some of the top fighters in the past including Josh Thomson, Nate Diaz, Rafael dos Anjos, Takanori Gomi and Anthony Pettis in their prime and he never goes out without a fight and so is the reason he is still fighting in the UFC as Dana White always like fighters who always bring the fight rather than having a boring fight.

Well it doesn't sound very good for him either. It's only an UFC on ESPN, and he's not even on the main card. It's probably his last fights IMHO.

Yup.  Pretty happy with winning something from the event at least.  The next one looks like it's kinda hard to make picks too.  I know I like that Pennington line at 1.73 at first glimpse tho.
Apart from the Cynthia Calvillo fight the rest of the fights were really easy to predict and i made a good parlay and recovered some of the losses i made in the past  Cheesy. I wish the rest of the fight card is like this so that anyone waging a bet could make some good amount and the next fight card have some good fights to wage a bet especially in the preliminary card and the Austin card is another easy card.

^ ^  Wups...  Just heard about the bad weight cut too.  And you should also know that Calvillo has moved up from women's SW to FW.  So she could be a tad stronger for this match.  Kinda like when Pettis moved up to WW and KO'd Thompson.
~
Oh and made a bet on 'fight won't go the distance' for Robertson vs Vettori at 2.45.  Those two hate each other.
Well, Vettori vs. Robertson didn't go the distance  Grin
Although Calvillo dominated Eye, I wasn't expecting the fight to go to a decision. I thought it's going to be an early finish (submission) too.

Here are the rest of the results:

Code:
Cynthia Calvillo def. Jessica Eye via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47)
Marvin Vettori def. Karl Roberson via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 4:17
Charles Rosa def. Kevin Aguilar via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Andre Fili def. Charles Jourdain via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
Jordan Espinosa def. Mark De La Rosa via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-26)
Mariya Agapova def. Hannah Cifers via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 1, 2:42

Merab Dvalishvili def. Gustavo Lopez via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-25)
Julia Avila def. Gina Mazany via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 0:22
Tyson Nam def. Zarrukh Adashev via knockout (punch) – Round 1, 0:32
Christian Aguilera def. Anthony Ivy via TKO (punches) – Round 1, 0:59

Great main event and classical fight American against Russian.
Blades have 3 wins in his previous fights, only one lost fight in last 10 fights, and he is favorite if we look at bookies odds.
Volkov has one lost fight in 8 previous fights, but last fight was back in 2019 when he won against Greg Hardy.
