Have you ever thought what would the world be without Bitcoin? Imagine if the cryptocurrency was never invented and we'd still be living with Fiat (paper money and credit/debit cards). People would be subject to banks' desires without a chance for freedom. A cashless society would be only a dream, without innovations in the FinTech space. Gold would still be an option, but not everyone will be able to access it. The unbanked people will be forced to deal with banks in order to participate in the mainstream economy. A lot of challenges and hurdles would arise without a decentralized form of currency for the enjoyment of all.

What do you think the world will be today without Bitcoin? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley

Probably digital transactions would still increase but not in a cryptocurrency system or a decentralized system.

As technology rises there are already digital transactions, as I remember there are banks that already open digital transactions kinda like a normal bitcoin wallet but it was just digital numbers.

And probably Paypal would be a trend in a digital transaction, Also we don't really know if bitcoin would survive in the future, something could mess everything that could easily destroy bitcoin.

Cryštocurencies are still not widespread enough for us to say how life without them would be. We, the users, are a small population of the global economy and a good chunk of us have not completely embraced the potential of crypto and still use FIAT. I would say it will take a long time and a stabilization of the market for us to see any serious effects on us. The only people that got a big change in their lives are the ones who cashed out big time and not enjoy a much wealthier life, but those people have just returned to FIAT, so there is no clear answer so far.

Bitcoin isn't a thing that a normal people will use let say average internet people do. And without bitcoin it would be just normal to them and most of people on earth as its not like a smartphone that could change and affect people's daily life.

While some industry will not exist, most .onion, gambling, porn website/service will still use paypal and mastercard today.

You're talking as if Bitcoin is some big thing already and the population will be missing it if it disappeared. In reality, most of us is using banks or cash for all our payments, simple because it's hard to find a place that accepts Bitcoin.

Without Bitcoin many peoples lives would be a complete disaster. There are many who are disenfranchised and don't have access to traditional payment methods. We see in Nigeria particularly where a large percentage of the population is using Bitcoin to protect their wealth from inflation and because many are unbanked.
I agree that Bitcoin would be useful to residents in third world countries; where the government weilds complete control and freedom is a scarce commodity. Those who are aware of Bitcoin and actually use it, would see it as an escape from restrictions and the gloomy state of the economy (which affects the fiat currency exchange value).

However, the uage of Bitcoin is countries such as Nigeria is still quite small, although it's growing rapidly, and is not enough to have a significant effect on the standard of living of the majority.
As a payment method Bitcoin is not popular and majority of the population still relies on fiat as a medium of exchange.
Being unbanked is not also a situation that affects most.

Simply put without bitcoin today I would probably be poor and unemployed Grin
Bitcoin changed my life for the better even if I had to dedicate so much time to it as the most difficult part of it all was to actually understand the protocol, its rules, how to manage the keys, how to store them safely and so on.
I still love bitcoin because there is never a dull moment and every day there is something new to learn.

A world without bitcoin would have been perfectly allright as it is today! Just with some billionaires and millionaires less. People are any ways using digital transactions using their debit and credit card and bitcoin didn't help in adoption digital payment in daily life! Bitcoin is neither helping the unbanked population in any way!

Bitcoin at today's date, has become a very niche currency which is extremely hard to earn or produce! So if someone calls bitcoin as a currency of mass, their claim is incorrect! Without bitcoin, the world is perfectly fine! Just the number of rich people would have been a little less!

95+% of the world today still goes on without knowing or at least caring about Bitcoin.
If you are serious about this topic you should really widen your circle of friends and acquaintances...

"The world without Bitcoin" is a world most of our parents lived and still living, so, for them to adapt the use of fiats from their beginning shows that a world without Bitcoin is very possible. Currently, very few people are those who adopt the use of Bitcoin (according to statistics), also, most of our final Bitcoin usage are fiats conversion. "A world without Bitcoin is a world the government won't puzzle around in order to find ways of regulating the asset."

Seems more like a question to place on Bitcointalk (running on Epochtalk) in 2040 than today. We’re still in the very early stages of adaption, and from a global perspective, it still rather minoritary in the big picture. The elements you mention are all still there, and will be so for some time to come for sur.

What’s certain is that bitcoin has introduced something new, evolving in products and services in many ways, which looks like it’s here to stay, changing some of the established commodities (and limitations) that we’re all used to. It won’t just be bitcoin, but the whose ecosystem built from its notion, that will render new opportunities for society on the whole.

There are still people who don't know about bitcoin, so it's like a world without bitcoin. We are privileged to know financial freedom, also those who have been introduced to cryptocurrencies are people who love innovation and are not afraid of technology.
My own experience tells me that people will accept bitcoin and crypto slowly due to complexity. If there were simpler applications, the adoption of bitcoin and crypto would be a given.

Isn't many propels have been living without Bitcoin? From my family only I am familiar with Bitcoin, no one else. So aren't they living without Bitcoin, it doesn't affect their lifestyle. There is much centralized Electronic Cash authorized by the government, even you don't need to carry cash for shopping. Even I am involved with bitcoin, at the end of the day I have to use fiat, either it's centralized Electronic Cash or paper money. The reason you know very well, we can't use bitcoin even in my country. So there is no alternative. I believe if there is no Bitcoin, it will not affect our lifestyle. But who had invested in it, of course, it will affect his lifestyle.

I think is not only about using banks, but there are also more kind of business involved in bitcoin, we must think about all the gambling, the exchanges, the mixers, and all those markets that make from bitcoin something useful and spendable, Without bitcoin, the world would be totally ruled by the big companies, and the freedom that bitcoin offers is the light at the end of the tunnel.
