When theymos last created some new merit sources, some sources who were regularly exhausting their supply were handed a 2x or even 3x increase in their source merit allocation. However, the total number of source merits stayed pretty much the same, so a number of sources who weren't spending all their source merits must have had their supply cut significantly in order to compensate.

Only theymos knows the exact distribution, but I suspect the number of sources with a relatively small allocation is higher than we think.

Everyone here arguing that they may not have much sMerits to send but we need to accept the fact they were not spending most of their monthly allowances to merit the forum members,the reasons maybe for not spending are

- cant' find the good quality post to merit them
- not enough time to read the most

I don't think merit sources are rewarded with any incentives for this dedicated job but they take it as high responsibility to spend their merit allowance even if they find less worthy posts to merit,just complete your quota with it.

I think theymos also wanted to spend their merit allowances by giving more merits in number with the posts they were finding.

Imagine that you are local board merit source, and your board does not have really high activity, you don't need more than 10-20 per month.
It is really possible to have sources with 10-20 source merit per month.
No need to have 100s if you cannot spend it.

In addition some people (MS) are not so active and cannot empty their monthly merit quota.
There are more active users receiving and sending merit that some of the merit sources, so don't be surprise if you cannot spot them all with a naked eye Wink

Indeed, you are wrong. Some merit sources have only few smerits per month that can be counted on the fingers of the hands (and maybe feet too).

. Really concerning dude. Its not a small number who are missing here on the merit source list. I wish they will be much active soon.

Spending time on bitcointalk isn't the only responsibility they got. Their smerit means a lot to new members of the forum Yeah its true if any of them remove from the list thats not gonna hurt their reputation but open a new door for active merit sources.

Some merit sources have a monthly allowance in the low double figures. If they are earning no merit of their own then they could well have less to give out per month than you do from what you have earned.

I'm sure this doesn't explain all the sources who don't appear in that list, but it's certainly a factor.

Not all merit sources have the same amount. It may be a reasonable conclusion that at times there will be non merit sources on that list. This is especially true if say a user has earned a large amount of merit recently or over time and had not distributed it. If they then set it all or most of it loose in a 30 day period they could easily crack the list.

The number of smerits allocated to merit sources is not public, and I guess some could exhaust their entire pool but would not still make it to the list.
Although, merit sources should endeavour to send all available merits, especially as it was recently increased at the request of a source.

We would have to consider the data of a longer period to really determine the amount of neglect, theymos can then take action.
There is of course nothing to lose in being removed from the source list.

Currently we have 122 merit sources. So usually top 50 Most generous recent merit senders should be from this 122 merit source because they have extra smerit allocations from admin. But just now I have visited
Most generous recent merit senders and 21180 merit was sent in the last 30 days. It's fine, but in my opinions there should be all merit sources on the list. But as far as I know there 2 user is non merit source, S_Therapist & Coolcryptovator. Both users isn't merit source. I think there is more none merit source users but above 2 is sure none merit source.

Just imagine, there is 48 merit source and 2 none merit source on the list. Then question is, where is rest 74 merit source ? I don't know about monthly allocations but I don't think it will be less then hundred. Because 122 merit sources with a total merit generation of up to 20835 sMerit per 30 days. Are they not spending their monthly allowance?

At least merit source shouldn't decay his smerit allocations. They have spend few time on this forum for spend their smerit and it's their responsibility.

My question will be wrong if monthly allocations below 50 smerit for this 74 users.
