Sent you an email. I'm one of your existing customers that was pointed towards this auction by your email. I lurk on bitcointalk a lot but I never had any reason to post.

This morning... I did not like the way CCN.LA portrayed my piece, by darkening the image and suggesting this is some form of rebellious act, which it is not in any form.
Unfortunately the bitcoin related media does a pretty poor job at being journalists.

I would say that more then half of their sources are not reputable enough to be quoted in a news article and the many news articles are editorialized when they are presented as news.

I might suggest that you somehow mark any bills as being "unfunded" and/or "buyer funded" in the event that any of the winners declines to fund the bills with .23BTC in order to prevent someone from presenting one of these bills as being funded when in fact it is not.

As a courtesy to current bitcointalk users, if you are a customer of mine new to the forum here, and you are actively bidding or plan on bidding, can you please email me your bitcointalk user id or pm it to me here in the forum along with your name.

If you are not a customer already and you are bidding or plan on bidding with a new account, please pm me so I can verify you have sufficient funds by signing a transfer or placing funds in escrow.

Thank you!

Hey Max, will you be auctioning or selling the remaining 7 of these at some point?

I will most likely auction two more. Serials 7 & 9. I'm keeping one. One for my attorney. And I can't say where the other three are going yet but I have tentative plans for them.

I looked to see how others end their auctions on this forum, and I like the 5 minute rule. It seems like there's less room for potential conflicts at the end. And 0.1 bid increments so that it won't stretch out for an hour.

I will not require that you fund the piece, although I think it would be cool if all 10 are funded.

Below is the actual reply from my attorney who spent the afternoon researching for me.

Essentially, the law that regulates the defacing of US currency is in place for a specific reason and designed to punish those that have ulterior motives for the currency. Thus, the intent necessity. The key part of the statute is the intent necessity. You must deface the currency with the intent for the currency to be rendered unfit for recirculation. Glasses and a stamp does not render it unfit for circulation and you are not causing it to permanently be taken out of circulation. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that the art in question violates 18 U.S.C. 333.

I asked if he'd like one of the pieces as compensation for his time and he was delighted. I will be funding his for him also  Smiley

Regardless, I won't be doing a similar project in the future.

This morning... I did not like the way CCN.LA portrayed my piece, by darkening the image and suggesting this is some form of rebellious act, which it is not in any form.

"I hope people see what you're doing as an expression of art and freedom on speech." - a quote from a twitter follower this morning that I wanted to share because it's how I feel. (thank you)

Good luck to all.
