That is the hardest question in crypto to answer. Because overall we know that crypto isn't going anywhere, this is the technology of the future. The risk is making sure you are invested in the correct coin. A strong use case is important. It can be safer to look at projects that already have a working product, rather than just speculation. and then just make sure it's something that you like, something you're interested in.
I choose some altcoin to invest most on the popular trading floor and have a real trading day. That's where all traders go. Because the altcoin on this trading floor really has potential and value in all aspects. Besides its value is also very little fluctuation and prestige does not need to say. I look at what they are offering, the problem they are trying to solve, the team, progress so far, etc. I also try to learn if they have competitors going for the same space. There are a lot of coins, but many of them are similar to one another or have overlapping use cases.
Yep. with more altcoin appearing every day, I often do a review every time i want to invest. And I often go to coinmarketcap to pick which coins are good to invest. So, keep investing even though altcoin increases more.

I chose altcoins that enter the top 5 in coinmarketcap, because altcoins are included in top 5 coinmarketcap is a good coin, they have a great project and team
Read and understand what the impact of their product to the community and know who are the team behind. I only focus on few good coins/ token that I know and monitor the progress before I decide to invest.
Very complicated market now, I think about what coins should I buy around two weeks already? Because of this supply of coins, it's unbelievable how it's hard to choose only a few of them. There should be some restrictions about it.

Yes, now there are a lot of altcoins in the market and new ones continue to appear. There are many parameters for selection, the simplest: you need to look at the capitalization and choose from the top 20, then you need to look at the team and the ideas that they want to implement in this or that project, etc ..

Most people are choosing high speed blockchain protocol coins for short and long term investments. I have also holding and trading some of those coins. There are indeed alot of altcoins but you can only choose few alts with highest potentials. For me the best alts you need to invest in could be the alts who are longer in the market and still batling with higher price.
There are so many altcoins that it's impossible to do proper research on all of them. So i rely on a couple of sources to get ideas and information from.
I will do my own research from there on. I don't have the time for trading so i keep a bag of the projects i like. Besides that i think that the ICO system is
responsibly for the wild growth of coins, everybody wants a piece of the pie, it's easy to collect money fore funding a project or conducting a scam.
Regulation will put a halt to this although the damage is already done imo.

Sure, for someone who is a trader, holding for a long term is never an option as they tend to look out for the best available market to tap into and use that as a means to get some profit from them, but in this case, it takes a lot of being extra careful before making any move such as that.
