Who knows maybe Msiafterburner or sapphire trixx will have something done by then.

I think new drivers will allow cards to be seen by MSI Afterburner

so ive done what you did phill and just left the clocks alone and set the power limit to -26%.
that puts me at 1095mhz running about 45mh/s

my idle watts are around 140-160W and full power watts is at 400W..

so thats 250 watts for 2 rx 480s.. at the wall.

Simple easy and just about what I am doing with my two cards.

Once I get all the rigs back up this simple method will save me time and watts.

Who knows maybe Msiafterburner or sapphire trixx will have something done by then.

Would it be possible for the users to post the J/MH per card and per system? It would be better for us to compare.

sure if they know how.

we can go with what gpu-z posts per card.

I will do mine later.

here is each one, but the watts that reports is for the chip  about 85.3 on the one driving the display  and about 81.3 on the other one

this leaves out the fans  and the vrm

plus  the watts flux while hashing

total system does 297 to 312. watts at the wall   since the psu is a plat   dc = 270 - 283

When mining is off system does  40-50 watts at the wall since the psu is a plat dc =  36.4 - 45.5

so 257 / 2 =  128.5 watts    each card at the wall    since the psu is a plat  dc =  233.87/2 =  116.93 watts dc for each card

chips read 81 and 85      so  tack on  33- 35 watts for the ram and the fan

below is at the chip

wattman keeps messing up and changing my 2nd cards settings to N/A and causing it to run at 96c with only 1400 rpm fan.. :/

okay  re set wattman to stock on the two cards.

how many cards just 2 correct.

card 1 all auto until you reach the fan

on the fan

do 2000 4400 for fan speed

 do  80c    60c for temps

do -28% for power

hit apply

card 2 all auto until you reach the fan

do 2000 4400 for fan speed

do 80c   60c for temps

do -28% for power

hit apply

you should get about 24mh + 24mh

now my pc is 100% for eth mining

I think you are trying to do other shit  while mining?

Is this correct?

photos of a simple wattman tweak
re set all gpus in wattman to stock
boot
then leave gpu freq
 on dynamic
voltage on auto

ok i see what you are doing.. you are forcing the cards to go to powerstate 4 or so by limiting the power..

ill give that a try. since the power part isnt resetting, its the clocks part that is messing up in wattman, i see yours is too.. it says N/A for everything but the last one.

yeah all the fan settings stay stuck when set  which is good as gear is in the 63-66C range and fans are not too loud.
and all the fan settings come back after I boot.
which is easy.

then I only need deal with power limit   which also stays stuck when you reboot.  I tried everyone from 0 to -35.

My best results are in the 22-26% zones.  and i only need worry over that one number.

Since I plane on :

2 three card rigs
5 two cards rigs

total of 16 cards.   checking just the   power limit number is soooo much easier then doing all the voltages.

Lastly the only tweaks are coming right here:

back to my account.

since full stock gives me 49mh at 350-363 watts

and the simplified setting of fans + power limit of -23%   gives me  48mh at 297-312 watts   it is a huge  power saving

and simple to do.  Me like simple.

as for sia   I would do my simple settings in wattman.

the fans and -23%  look at all mining results for 30 minutes

and the beauty is the next test  since it is simple do

the fans  and -22%  look at all mining results for 30 minutes

then do the fans and -21%
then do the fans and -20%

yada
yada
yada

until you find the best one  maybe it is the fans setting and -7% power limit

now you can not do this without a kwatt meter since you do no know how much power you save

and sia may simply not scale well  ie.

on Eth I dropped my  power from 350 to 297  my mh dropped from 49 to 48  using -23%  that is scaling well  as the 1 mh is not worth around 50 watts

I tried your setting, and it doesn't work as intended.

I'm solo mining SIA, the hash rates will reduced by at least 20% with the -28 power setting.

Maybe it works on ETH only.

What hash rate do you get mining Sia with the 480? (with go miner)

Hi Phillip,

Why did you change to -23%, originally you mentioned -28%, was it not stable at -28%?

it is stable at 28 to 30%  but mh drops on one card to 23 and change  and the other card to 22 and change  I net 45.8 to 46.2  watts 270-280

I prefer this I net  48 to 49 mh  watts 297 to 312 watts

vs stock  which is 49mh at 350-363 watts

I am posting here not to double post (I am philipma1957)

So Gpu stock
So memory stock

So my wattman settings  for fans never change  once I set them

and I only need worry about power limit.

-15%   to -30%

Now  I have to say this is very simple  for eth  once you add in multiple coins  it will change. You may really need to crank memory or gpu and leave power limit at 0%.

If you do only eth like I am doing I get close to 49MH using only 295-310 watts  of which 40 watts is pc

I can get better watts  with power limit at 27 to 30%  and mh drops a bit say 48mh for 2 cards

I can also say  once you go deep into gpu freq memory freq and voltage  you can do 265 watts on my system and get 47mh.

But stability is meh and you need to set:
the gpu freq the gpu volts
the mem freq the mem volts
the fans
the power limit

the simplified setup in this post is:
the fans
the power limit

the benefit is about 30 watts a card  the mh drops  from high 24 say 24.9 mh   to low 24 say 24.2mh

Look below at my rx 480 sapphires 8gb ram.

I left gpu stock
I left memory stock.
All settings are in the fan area and the power limit which is in the fan area.

I get a drop in watts from 350-360 stock settings
to 297-312 my settings.
fans stay under 3000 rpm temps are under 67c
room is 86f

this shows me at 23% power limit.
for your rx 480's   you can try from 15% to 30%

my low kwatt reading on the settings above

my high kwatt reading on the settings above

Can you guys help me out here? Thanks.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.15521540

I am all windows 7  .  So my advice is based on windows 7.

pull the r9 280  and run just the rx 480's

make sure you are using amd 16.7.1 drivers

use wattman  for tweaking  wattman is inside of amd settings.

I go real simple with wattman

I only set the fans and the power limits

the power limit setting is under the fan setting  I use -28%

I set fans for 2000 rpm-4000 rpm

temps at 80 max 60 target

so only 3 tweaks for each card.

i get 24mh for 1 card 47 mh for 2 cards

I get  275 watts for entire system  cards ram cpu ssd case fans,

my system pull 71 watts with no mining and 275 watts with 2 cards.

Phillip,

So you at 24MH with -28%, your RX 480 only pull around 100W each?  Also how do you make the Global setting once and have it apply to all 5 GPU vs editing the same for each card?

I also bought 4 RX 480s (4gb) Sapphire on Amazon. They are there at retail $199.99 but they add stock and sell real quick.

You were lucky

I never seen any RX 480 on Amazon for retail price. Only traders' ones >$300
