🎯No need to trust a central authority that might be incompetent, vulnerable to attacks, or even have ill intentions.

What HODL stands for!

This phrase can often be heard in our chats, but why is it spelled like that, “HODL” instead of “HOLD”? This fateful typo was first made by a Bitcointalk user GameKyuubi in 2013. It caught on so well it became the de-facto motto of all long-term crypto investors.

Today the word is widely used whenever there is a decline on the market to reassure everyone to keep holding without panic. This word is commonly in this particular phrase: “BUY AND HODL”. This investment strategy is one of the simplest out there as it implies steadfast holding regardless of market perturbations. “Hodlers” are those who maintain composure in the face of market-shaking dumps. The more hodlers out there, the better it is for the entire market!

What are ETH smart contracts?

Smart contracts are applications that run on the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). These are applications that are executed automatically upon fulfilling certain prerequisites set by their programmers.

Smart contract advantages include a built-in protection from the human factor. Nobody can tamper with a smart contract, and there is no need to trust the third party to release money on time or validate a transaction. What’s also important is that the contract runs on the blockchain, and will continue to work for as long as there is electricity and the Internet on the planet, regardless of the status of the developer's website or other external factors.

What is blockchain technology?

Blockchain is a database that stores a constantly growing list of records (blocks). These records are organized in a strict sequence, and each subsequent record stores some information about the previous record. Such a database is stored on users ' computers (it does not have a single server) and everyone who keeps the database has its full copy and new records are added to all existing copies.

The blockchain is there to protect us from fraud within the network, making the transaction very easy and transparent!

Today there are hundreds of blockchains in the world, but today we’ll focus on a few of them:

Bitcoin. Despite being the network that pioneered blockchain, Bitcoin doesn’t feature smart contracts.

Ethereum. Its main goal is to offer more than just another currency, but enable those using it a way to pre-program entire systems of interaction between addresses and tokens, which leads to such things as trustless smart contracts that eliminate the need for intermediaries.

Binance Smart Chain relies on a network of 21 validators, powered by the Proof of Staked Authority (PoSA) consensus algorithm that results in short block times and low fees.

Solana. An open-source blockchain designed for scalable decentralized applications.

Cardano – the first to be founded on peer-reviewed research and developed through evidence-based methods.
