Hey Juventus is the favourites to lift the cup, however I feel they’ll have stiff competition from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester City and Barcelona. Also as you mentioned the Ronaldo factor definitely comes into play, he always steps up in big matches. Even I’m rooting for Manchester United to beat Psg, I do hope they can script history by winning the cup.

I don't know why, but I really don't see Juventus among the favorites to lift this year UCL trophy, maybe because I think they've not been tested this season, I'd choose Man City ahead of Juventus as a favorite to win the trophy, My favorite teams are Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich.

Seriously...?  Not Juve?  The 'Ronaldo factor' comes into play at big matches like these.  I think he could even carry Juve to the finals.  To the trophy even.

Def LFC.

...  And rooting for Man United to go thru.  Grin  I made a stupid bet on them to win the whole thing.  Cheesy

Atletico is a cup's team and Simeone is a great coach who can find the right tactics to beat Juve.
I've been following Simeone for a very long time (since I watch La Liga a lot), and I wouldn't say he's a great tactician, he's more of a pragmatic coach who doesn't rely too much on tactics, simply defend and attack whenever you can.
Maybe so... but what I meant to say is that many teams fail to play at their best when they face a Simeone's team.

Lyon-Barca i am expecting very good football .Lyon won his last game against PSG it will be not enough for Barca but we will see very good games

Lyon is a young team with lots of potential. They proved it against PSG this weekend and most of all against City in the first round.
Barca is probably a bit too big for them but maybe they'll do what Monaco did two years ago. It can go either way I think, maybe they'll give Barca a good challenge or maybe they'll explode completely... because it's Barca after all.

If Bonnuci and Chellini will not be back from injuries then bye bye Juve
Juve defense without them is tragic

Porto will qualify .Italian clubs striking ability is very poor .Roma defense in last games was not the best also

I see LFC much better than Bayern .Neuer is out Bayern is presenting very poor football
Even that tired Liverpool is much better than Bayern

I think Man United will do that and not only because of Naymar injury.United is not losing much goals and Pogba is the best midfielder in the world now

Lyon-Barca i am expecting very good football .Lyon won his last game against PSG it will be not enough for Barca but we will see very good games

Spurs-BVB yet another competition where we can see lot of goals and quality play. BVB to qualify

On paper, Juve is definitely the better team... but we need some upsets.  Tongue

There's also a good news for the team as the team's Captain, Deigo Godin returns to training ahead of the Madrid Derby and Would also be available for the UCL knockout fixtures.

I also think both teams play very similar styles, so they'll probably cancel each other out and we won't that many goals.

But I'm with @tokeweed, I think the Ronaldo factor will play a big role both games, the guy always shows up in the big stages, plus he has an impressive record against Atletico: 22 goals and 8 assists in 31 games, including a hat-trick in 2017 in the CL semi finals which was the last time CR7 faced Atletico.

^  Winning silverware and making money would be the two primary reasons.  It always is.

And I guess getting some prestige for the club for acquiring one of the greatest (arguably the greatest) footballers who ever lived.

It would be interesting to check Juventus, they bought Ronaldo only to try to win the Champions as their primary goal, in Serie A with or without Ronaldo they are used to win it from some years without much problems. That is why it will be very interesting to watch Juventus how will they perform in Champions with Ronaldo.

So who do you guys have passing this round ?
I'll go with Roma, PSG, Real, Dortmund, Barca, Liverpool, Atletico and City.
Most of them are the favorites, except maybe for Atletico (vs. Juve) and Dortmund (vs. Tottenham). I guess people's opinion is 50/50 for Bayern / LFC but I like Liverpool in this one.

I had posted my predictions in old thread and it's same as yours. I'm very sceptical about Tottenham - they are biggest chokers who can't win big games. Despite that MU improved their game a lot recently, I still think that PSG have advantage against them, even without Neymar. Juve are favorites on paper against Atletico, but I hope that Atleti will win. And Bayern - Liverpool - true, it's 50/50, I will support LFC in this pair.

I agree with all of your predictions. Tottenham should still be without Kane so Dortmund will take that one. Juve vs Atleti is the only one I see as 50/50.
Liverpool is missing VVD for 1st leg but Bayern misses Mueller for both games.

Dont forget that Manchester United has experience playing at the highest level and going all the way in the UEFA CL. Something that PSG historically doesn't have. The appointment of Solskjaer is like a rebirth for MAN U and you can see in the performance of players like Pogba how much the change of management meant for them. Neymar will be missed by PSG. They are still the favourites but I don't think these matches will be that one-sided as people might think.

Right now the only real news is that Neymar will be out during the upcoming elimination stage against Manchester United.

Still I highly see as the team to go further PSG because of all the quality players residing in the team. The players of Manchester United do not have the capacity to overcome PSG.

I feel Neymar being unavailable for PSG will effect them mentally, while they have an exceptional squad his mere presence would have boosted their confidence. I believe Manchester United can take inspiration from David slaying the Goalith, wherein I consider Manchester United to be David. If you’re not aware then let me remind you this Manchester United is not your regular team, and the tactics they deploy change per team so bet against them at your own peril.

PSG are far better than Manchester United even without Neymar. There are still many players that can substitute his presence and win the matches. On the other side, Man Utd is of course in a winning streak and in good shape, but they don't own top-class players like PSG. It is a success that they have reached so far in the competition for me.

So, if old thread won't be unlocked, it's good to have new one.
Less than 2 weeks left and finally Champions league will return after winter break. Some things had changed since the draw was made.
First - Real started to play solid in recent weeks. If they continue playing like now, I don't see any chances for Ajax.
PSG were obvious favourites when Mou was in charge. But now MU is a different team under management of Solskjaer. Also, P$G lost Neymar and it changes a lot of things in this pair. Still, I think that PSG have slightly better chances to advance further, but now we can't write-off MU.
Now there are no small clubs left in this stage and it's good for fans of top football. What can be better than matches like Bayern - Liverpool, Atletico - Juve or Tottenham - Borussia already in first round of playoffs.
