Many people think that PSG's 0-1 defeat has allowed Bayern Munich to easily qualify for the quarter-finals. PSG basically still has a chance to qualify for the quarter-finals if they win the second leg at the Allianz Arena with a good score difference. That is possible even though Bayern Munich have won the first leg. PSG's victory is not something impossible, but they have to work harder to win it.

The second round will be played in March, but to judge this match we only have to see how both of them perform in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga. Each of the two teams have 3 games before the second leg, and a lot of things will change for that game I think.

But indeed the result is still the same as many people have predicted even though in this match they forced their star players but the result was still a victory for Bayern.
The match actually went fiercely and that was a really good condition, it's just that looking at ball possession, opportunities and of course Bayern clearly understands better and with this result they are a little safer even though the 2nd leg can sometimes be unexpected.

1-0 is not high score but this is important winning because Bayern has get it from away matches and PSG have do work more hard if want to qualified because at least they have to scoring 2 goals in the second leg and it won't be easy because Bayern at home were very strong and during group stage Bayern were unbeatable even Barcelona and Inter has been lose at there

Regarding the match why Gatlier played Mbappe not since beginning of match i will assume Mbappe still not fully recover so it's risky to playing him since early minutes and actually PSG game were better after Mbappe played even 10 minutes before second half ended i can see PSG has make some attempts through an Mbappe, Neymar and Messi but unfortunately they still can't even equalized the score

The defeat in the 1st leg which occurred at home was certainly a heavy blow for PSG. Linoel Messi's steps to advance to the quarterfinals can be said to be very difficult even though the opportunity is still open.

But Bayern also still has shortcomings that PSG might take advantage of in the second leg later. It was proven that when Mbappe entered, Bayern's defense became very chaotic. It's just that the PSG coach, Galtier, was less observant in reading the situation on the field and was late to include Mbappe. So he has to carry that burden.

Everyone expected that the match between Tottenham and FC Milan would definitely go in Tottenham's favor as Tottenham's performance in the English Premier League was impressive but Serie A Milan's performance was not very good. Coman's goal (53') led Bayan Munich to 1-0. Then both teams tried hard to score, but in the end neither team could score. Later the result of the game went in favor of Bayern Munich. However, in this match PSG managed to make only nine shots of which only four shots were on target but Bayern Munich managed to make 19 shots against them with 7 shots on target.

you are right Galtier is not experienced enough for a platform like the Champions League. PSG can't find an experienced coach though or they are ready to spend a lot of money. Bad match strategy was the main reason for PSG's defeat against Bayern Munich. If PSG's match strategy was good, they would have been able to win. Galtier should have understood that the opponents here are experienced teams like Bayern Munich. They will definitely play attacking. PSG should have focused entirely on counter-attacking. But they didn't do it. Moreover, PSG's gameplay was a bit slow from the beginning of the match due to the absence of Mbappe in the starting XI.

It seems that not many people are talking about Milan's win over Tottenham today because PSG's loss to Bayern Munich was much more global. I have to care enough about how Milan accomplishes its mission after not being consistent in Serie A, and this win is a good sign of confidence from everyone.

PSG, who hosted Bayern Munich, had to admit the advantage of the away team after Coman scored. That was the only legitimate goal in the match even though PSG had scored a goal which was later disallowed for offside. VAR has helped Bayern Munich win at the Parc des Princes, and PSG have been very unlucky during the match.

I also think this is PSG's problem, they haven't found a coach with international capacity who can manage the egos of PSG's star players. Galttier in that game used a 4-4-2 formation with Messi and Neymar on the front lines but it seems that it hasn't been effective, I think it's really bad luck for PSG because in such an important match Mbappe got injured.

while milan vs tottenham ended with a narrow win for milan, it was really a good performance shown by diaz, he managed to score a quick goal for milan's victory. even though Milan's performance in the local league is bad, in the champions league I quite appreciate Milan's performance, the second leg will take place at home to Tottenham, I wonder if Milan will be able to hold a draw or even win again from Tottenham later.

I will never regret it if PSG also fail to reach the quarter-finals this season, but anything is still very possible because there is another leg that will be very decisive. PSG had to work hard in the second leg because their home defeat in the first leg wasn't big, it was only 0-1.

Hope is still there but of course it's difficult because Bayern Munich learned a lot last season when they loss by non-favorite Spain team. The winning is mandatory for PSG in the second leg so this defeat is not a good reason to dash their hopes of qualifying. But every player must be quite aware that they must give their best to repay all the trust of the coach and his team to win something big.

This PSG team lacks structure, team work and precision. They over do things and make simple things complicated. This team has a lot of problems and this current coach can't fix them. Honestly I think their usual poor performance in the UCL boils down to the fact that their home league doesn't challenge them enough to deal with the stronger teams when they face them.

I posted just yesterday in the transfer speculation thread and I'll say it again here, Neymar will probably be transferred in the next transfer window.
In my opinion, the problem is not the coach, but the fight of egos within the club, too many "stars", too much marketing and not enough soccer.
When Neymar leaves the team, you will see that it will improve, and if they can put less presssure to win the UCL, they might have a much better chance of reaching the final again.
But I repeat, much of the team's problem is Neymar, just like the Brazilian national team.

The PSG team still has a chance to continue in the Champions, it is not difficult to see teams recovering from a bad result, but it will be a difficult task to recover in such a short time and with an opponent like Bayern.

I agree that PSG doesn't have a coach that is worth it with the quality of their current team. Christophe Galtier seems to have failed to prove himself as a coach who can influence PSG's confidence in the Champions League so it will be difficult for him to achieve success in the Champions League. After all, Ligue 1 has the lowest league ranking compared to Serie A, Premier League, La Liga and Bundesliga and maybe that's why PSG are looking so hard to establish themselves as the best champions on the European stage.

If there is something that needs to be improved, then I agree that the position of coach should be replaced with a more experienced coach. Then I also agree that some of their midfielders are not as strong as expected even though their defense and attack look very good. Danilo Pereira, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Carlos Soler, Fabian Ruiz don't seem to be midfielders who are really capable of bringing a lot of success to PSG in big competitions. I tend to agree that PSG must get the best midfielder who has better quality than some of the names above.

Then, you shall try to write this in another section that been dedicated for europa league. It's not so hard to discuss about it in the right place as barcelona and MU didn't play in champion league. So, no reason to keep discussing it here.

It's not only a huge step but it would become a very big motivation for bayern. The next game gonna happen in allianz arena. We do know that how good bayern was playing on its home against PSG, it can be seen from the result of last year. PSG was almost losing against bayern on allianz arena.

PSG don't have champion mentality at this stage and their performance in Champions League is even worse than Chelsea in the past. Before winning their first Champions League, Chelsea were already a giant there and in many seasons, they brought fear to opponents around Europe.

PSG is oppositely, as they likely are fearful when playing in Champions League. Like in the match with PSG at their home stadium, they let Bayern totally controlled the match. It's a shame when they are a host and played at home.

Bayern always have good players and they are smart to choose players for their team. After the injury of Neuer, they wisely picked Yann Sommer who is a very good goalkeeper and experienced a lot of tough matches in Euro and World Cup with Switzerland. The match with PSG shows that he is a very good replacement for Neuer in short term and long term as well.

Both Bayern and PSG have very good players but as a team, PSG players are not able to unite as a whole solid team and in their team, there are holes that affect them a lot in Champions League. I believe one of biggest weaknesses of PSG is their coach position and they must find a coach who is winner in Champions League like Ancelotti and Mourinho. They have many good attacking players so they don't need to have a coach like Pep or Klopp. They must find a coach who can bring balance for their team by improving their defense.

Having champion mentality without quality players also doesn't make sense to win the Champions League. Bayern Munich have good players to defend and attack, and their style of play is very different and that determines the course of the game. But this defeat was influenced by many factors in which in the end I have to admit that PSG was just unlucky with goals and a few chances.

Even though PSG has expensive players who are also former Champions League winners such as Messi, Neymar and Ramos, basically the PSG squad is not stable enough in their midfielders. The creativity of the midfield is not good enough to support the attacker where quite often the striker has to go down and build an attack from half of his own field. Obviously that looks like PSG will have to fix that if they want to win title like the Champions League, and since the first leg was over then I think PSG's chances of qualifying are just not that high anymore.

if we look at the composition of the players + the match happened at PSG home then PSG should have won but that didn't happen, bayern is a team that has the mentality of winning the UCL 6 times so it's difficult for PSG to match that, if mbappe continues to be at PSG, I'm sure he will never be able to get the UCL trophy at any time, moving clubs is the best choice.


a winning mentality team, well PSG doesn't have that. messi and neymar have been at PSG for several years, even when they were younger than now, they were unable to make PSG win the UCL. I agree with what you said that Man city and PSG only seem to be victorious in the local league, not the champions league.

 It would have been a great encounter between both clubs but unfortunately for Barc and UTD they're not in the UCL any longer, both teams were eliminated in the group stages and now they have to battle it out in the UEFA Europa League having Man UTD in a better form than Barcelona, am really sure that UTD will make Old Trafford a busy and an uncomfortable place for the visitors, talking about the Catalans.

Yes, another reason is PSG doesn't have a champion mentally to face Bayern even has a superstar squad. Maybe because of this reason Mbappe want to leave. As we know, it's not fast to build that mental even have alot of money, The club like PSG, Man City and others is have money to buy expensive player and build the superstar squad and maybe able to stand to local league, but it's not work when fight on Champion League where must have mentally like Bayern and Madrid.

Again, again and again Bayern Munich is an obstacle for PSG to qualify for the next round, even though Bayern Munich now no longer has its flagship striker who moved to Barcelona but still Bayern Munich is a team that is hard to beat in the champions league, experience and mentality that Bayern Munich has able to destroy the depth of the star squad owned by PSG, even though it only lost 1-0 and PSG still has a chance in the second leg later, but at least this defeat can make PSG work harder when playing at the Allianz Arena later.

An important step for sure but not a huge one since the goal scored in aways game is no more counted as 2 goals as far as I know. PSG mission is difficult for sure but Bayern isn't safe either.
Milan also got also an important victory vs Spurs with an early goal by Diaz. It has at long time since they win at this stage from what I learned.
