As I said before, it's still too early to say with confidence that Manchester City can return back to back to win the Champions League because it all still has to be proven and we still don't know what will happen in the future, especially for the knock out phase or quarter-finals which there are always surprises there.
Indeed, anyone would agree that Manchester City are very strong candidates but defending the championship is clearly more difficult than being a challenger so for now we still cannot be completely sure especially this is just the beginning and the Champions League has only conducted 1 match in the group phase.
In the early phase Ronaldo made Real Madrid win the Champions League twice in a row many times but I'm not sure if there is any other club that has done the same in their club and I don't see Manchester City doing that right now, they are not in that form and I'm beginning to have the same doubt because Rodri and De Bruyne that was absent yesterday, they couldn't beat ordinary Wolves that is battling the same faith with Nottingham Forest, lets even say that Rodri will be available all through the Champions League, what about Haaland, he looks helpless without Kevin De Bruyne.
I'm not also saying that Real Madrid will win this time around, they are in good form but I don't think they can go far, not with this winning mentality but luck might later comes in the way just the same way they made many come back in their matches in 2021/2022 before Benzema left the team. We might receive a shocking team that might go hard on these club we are anticipating and win the Champuons League.
As I recall when Ronaldo was at Madrid it was 3 times in a row not 2.
As for Manchester City, they also still have the same conditions because they are one of the strongest candidates with the players and coaches they have, especially with KDB who is always the motor of attack and there is Haaland as a good executor, they will still be the favourite only in this case of course we must be aware that there is a luck factor in the drawing because sometimes this also affects as well as several other conditions such as the loss of several players due to injury or getting punishment.
Regardless, it's fine to say for sure now that the favourites will win it's too early for me because at the end of the day we also have to be aware that the Champions League is still a long way away.
Although against Porto seems to be a difficult match for Barcelona because Barcelona will play away, but it seems that I am personally still quite optimistic that maybe Barcelona will still win even if only with a thin score. But indeed, even if for example the match ends with a draw, of course Barcelona still remains at the top of the standings. So yes, basically Barcelona still has a good chance in this group phase, because after all Barcelona has a good chance to be able to win group H.
They will be aiming for the best result to ease their way out of this group stage, they will definitely not want to drop points in this match.
Their chances of winning this match are also greater than Porto even though they will act as guests.
Xavi must have prepared the best strategy they have, and not only that they must also have studied the game of this opponent and looked for gaps to be utilized there. Most likely they will be able to bring home points, even if they can't win, at least they will bring home 1 point.
We are all aware that the group stage for Barcelona is something easy (at the moment) after the previous 2 seasons they were always joined by big clubs but for this season they will not be too bothered because their opponents can still be said to be easy opponents in the group stage so this will not be a problem for Barcelona.
It would be outrageous if this season they also failed because with the strength of the team and their condition which is much better than before, it is certainly not something difficult to be at the top of group H.
