I think staying at Leverkusen is the lowest risk of them all. Going to any of the teams coming for him would be a very big risk. Can you imagine the pressure that'll come with coaching a club like Madrid or Bayern or even Liverpool?
It's a very good decision to stay at Leverkusen for at least one more season. He just won them the league and took them to the Champions League, it won't be proper to not play the Champions League with them before going to a bigger club.

There is less pressure at Leverkusen. He has won them the league, if they finish next season without a trophy it wouldn't mean anything for a club like Leverkusen. What matters is he brought them to the Champions League and they will compete for it. Who knows, they might surprise us again.
Winning the league will open up doors for better recruitment, so they'll be able to recruit better players. Also, with Alonso staying, the star players of Leverkusen won't leave. When a team has a good project like Leverkusen does, convincing players to sign for them won't be a problem.

I think Arteta's team, Arsenal, will really be more enthusiastic in the UCL match against Bayern. It is always difficult to maintain the same performance in different seasons, there are many teams that fail to meet those expectations. Just like you, I also doubt that Leverkusen can maintain their performance next season, especially after they qualify for the Champions League. Several other teams such as Leicester, Napoli and others have failed in different seasons even though they won the domestic title.

There is another team that I doubt too next season, they are Girona from La Liga. Girona and Leverkusen have been two surprising teams this season, but Leverkusen have been much more consistent and they are almost certain to win the Bundesliga title. I find it difficult to expect these two teams to be able to maintain their form next season, unless management succeeds in building a better squad next season.

There have been plenty of surprises for average teams in the Champions League and it could end up being much worse next season. Leverkusen is playing well this season and they are unbeaten in all competitions, but I still doubt that next season they can repeat the same thing. The Champions League is much tougher and even clubs with more experienced players will experience defeat when playing. Leverkusen has only been a proven rock this season playing quite consistently but we never know how they will play next season.

If they play like this season in the Champions League then maybe their chances of coming out as champions are a little bigger. But for next season, no one knows how Leverkusen will play as stable and consistent as they do now. Leverkusen need to test their abilities next season in the Champions League and we hope they can play consistently in the competition there.

No I don't think his value as a manager would drop unless Leverkusen crashes brutally hard and finishes the season out of the top 4 or far worse than that. Everyone knows that realistically speaking, after such a season a lot of big clubs will reach out to those players who are mainly responsible for that remarkable success. Alonso has proven his value already. He took over in Leverkusen when they were crashing hard, and now they are on their way up with players whose names most people have never heard about before.

But since he now decided to fulfill his contract, I believe this will turn into a very important signal for everyone in the team and the club. It is not as easy a decision to leave the club as it would be when Alonso decided to leave the club. I think that most of them will stay and try to let that project prosper further. They have just built the foundation this season.

This is very true, I do not think that it would be easy for him to repeat the same things again and again, there are situations where things are not going that hard. I believe that we are going to see them change some stuff next season and those changes (including selling good players like grimaldo) may make them worse. In that situation, the value of Xabi as a manager could drop, not a lot because he had this season, but he will not be considered as great as he is this season.

Look at Spaletti, he is managing Italy right now, and that's a good job no doubt but that dude managed to make Napoli win the title, I would have expected some major team to get him. Italian managers don't do well outside of Italy, so maybe that's why he didn't.

I have no doubts on the performance of Bayern Leverkusen even when they participate in the champions league next season. They might not make it to the finals of the competition but I’m sure they will perform well and make it as far as the knockout stage of the competition. Even if they don’t have new players that will join them by next season, I still don’t have any doubts with them, they will still do well. Adding more players will be a bonus to them because of how competitive the champions league competition is as compared to the Bundesliga. Bayern Leverkusen was able to compete and outperform Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga, so they should be able to do as much as Bayern Munich is also doing in the champions league now.

You're right. It is quite surprising Xabi Alonso doesn't want to take the chance to be a manager in a better team. He must get higher salary and bigger chance to win prestigious trophies if we moves to Bayern Munich or Liverpool because they have better squad and great club management. However, Xabi Alonso prefers to stay with Bayer Leverkusen and he risks his career there. His loyalty with Bayer Leverkusen may lead him to fail in managing Bayer Leverkusen for the next season. The top teams may be no longer interested in him if Bayer Leverkusen performs badly in the next season. So, it is very brave that Xabi Alonso decided to stay.

He probably wants to prove that he really has a great ability as a football manager. He will show people who doubt him that the great performance of Bayer Leverkusen this season isn't just a coincidence. And Xabi Alonso expects that he can make a history in UCL with Bayer Leverkusen. He should have a big dream with Bayer Leverkusen for the next season.

It is not a must to move to EPL. Not only Liverpool which is very serious to hire Xabi Alonso, but Bayern Munich is also serious to hire him. If this was any other coach, I think they were going to choose the money. I actually like that he has not done that and I also think he is trying to "sharpen the axe" so to say.

Maybe by giving Leverkusen one more year, he will be able to gain more experience before going to a big club, which is actually needed in my opinion. As a coach who is pretty new to the scene, he should think about what will be best for him in the long run.

You know, if he right now goes to an English Premier League club and performs badly, it is pretty certainly going to be the end of his glory days.  And certainly who does want that to happen so early in his career? No one can deny he is a good coach, but a little more training is never going to hurt anyone right?

It remains an unpredictable match between these two clubs because they are both the strongest in the league and they are also rivals. The problem is that both teams are in a good form that it would be very hard for each of them to accept defeat easily.

Perhaps, the club that is able to force the other to play their pattern would be the one that would win the match. It is not possible for such match to end with a penalty shootout. I don't understand what are you trying to explain, but it is not Community League. It is UEFA Champions League, this is the highest football competition in the world. No team has a guarantee to win UCL trophy, including Bayern Munich. In the quarter-final, Bayern Munich will face Arsenal, it shouldn't be easy for Bayern Munich to beat Arsenal. If you look at the EPL standings, you must be aware that Arsenal is strong enough to challenge Bayern Munich.

What real system do you mean? What I know both Bayern Munich and Arsenal are top teams in the world, they are almost the same in every aspect. They have quality squad, they have great managers, and they have good performance in this season. So, both teams actually have the same chance to go to the next round and may reach the final round to battle for the trophy.

I'm sure Bayern can still put in another different performance in the Community League and it will be easy to beat them. If you look at the strength of Bayern and Arsenal, the real system has strength that is not very high. Arsenal will try to spoil Bayern's time on the board and use the opportunity to win the trophy they play in this season's school tournament through the middle.

In the last few seasons I thought this would be the most intense Champions League quarter-final.

Different opinions from different people have been said on this thread concerning the UEFA Champions League quarter final tie between German champions Bayern Munich and Mikel Arteta's Arsenal and if you closely look at the different opinions, you'll notice that most of them came with good points but I want to draw our attention to the league matches that was played by both teams over the weekend.
Bayern Munich on Saturday hosted last season league runners-up Borussia Dortmund in a game that's popularly known as Der Klassiker and for the first time in 10 years, Borussia Dortmund defeated Bayern Munich in their own home ground as the home team couldn't even score a goal in that game while Arsenal on Sunday traveled to the home of reigning English Premier League champions Manchester City and got a point and a clean sheet. The performances of both teams in recent games suggests that Arsenal is the better team but history favors Bayern Munich so if I'm to stake on which team to qualify, I think it'll be Arsenal.

Arsenal might be considered one of the best teams in the Premier League at the moment but if they have to play against Bayern Munich, the chances for both are fifty-fifty, because Bayern Munich is currently handled by Thomas Tuchel who incidentally has quite good experience with competition in the Premier League because he once coached Chelsea. Apart from that, Bayern Munich also has Harry Kane who is very familiar with the playing style of Premier League teams. So it is very likely that the knowledge that Harry Kane has can be very useful for his team.

Bayern Munich's opponent in the quarter finals of this season's Champions League is Arsenal. In that case, how Arsenal and Bayern Munich are currently performing in their league will depend a lot on the Champions League match.  Arsenal don't have much injury problem and Arsenal are performing consistently in the English Premier League, unlike Bayern Munich who are not performing well in their league, when these two teams face each other, Arsenal will have a chance to advance. We can say that Bayern Munich is only planning for Champions League but if they are planning for Champions League then they should improve their game a lot but in their performance we are not seeing any improvement.  Bayern Munich must perform better if they want to beat Arsenal in the two legs of the Champions League.

Whatever Alonso's decision certainly deserves respect from all parties because of course he has thought about all the possibilities that will happen to his career, but Alonso's stay at Leverkusen is certainly the right decision for him to continue to improve his coaching career, Alonso indeed cannot avoid the risks that may occur when he stays at Leverkusen and when if he fails in his second season with Leverkusen,  So it is certain that in the future Munich and Liverpool will no longer make offers to him.

But I think Alonso's chances of success are quite open as long as he can maintain his current squad and at least if he is able to maintain Leverkusen's form in the Bundesliga next season, playing in the Champions League next season will certainly be a challenge for Alonso, because as a coach who is on the rise Alonso is required to be able to compete with the big European teams later in the Champions League,  And this Is where it can be a form of proof from Alonso that indeed he deserves to be recognized as a great coach and not just luck to bring Leverkusen to be as great as this season.
