I'm not sure if we deserved it per say, but I'm glad we managed to get the win even against the odds at half time. I do think Villareal probably wanted to at least win the one leg, since they did put a massive amount of effort into that game. Although, I have to agree that overall I do believe we deserved to go through to the final, I thought despite our terrible performance in that first half, we played the better football over the two legs. However, Villareal had a tactic, and it very nearly worked against us. On another night, they might have just had that luck that was required to go through.

We cannot underestimate Madrid if we are only 1 point behind. Aggregates when playing at home to Manchester City make Real Madrid able to reduce the lag. Villarreal showed me very quickly that I was wrong in saying that the matter of reaching the final is already settled after the first game. The first half was perfect in their performance. In the second half, however, we saw Liverpool playing at their highest level and Villarreal's dreams were quickly over.
